They don’t devein the shrimp. I don’t know about you but extra shit doesn’t add flavor.

I walked in and they were cleaning. This was about 7PM on a Friday. I asked for shrimp tacos. They told me the only thing they had was soup. WTF. Why would I want soup? Then I asked about ceviche. Soup was ready now. Christ. What a hole. He then said if I wanted tacos I should go to Los Panchos. I went to Los Panchos.

I decided to check this place out based on the two previous reviews and I am sorry to say I was beyond disappointed by the experience.(sorry Vero!) My hubby and I ordered shrimp ceviche tostadas — something I thought was like pizza — even the bad stuff is good. I have to say the serving portions are large but in no way is that a good thing in this case. The ceviche was bland in flavor and texture, almost like eating cold, wet toilet paper with tomatoes and some cilantro. How you get shrimp to be mushy, I don’t know… Perhaps sitting in the lime juice way too long? It was served on the dinkiest tostada ever, which was soggy by the time I had forced myself to eat half. Thinking the dish was going to be FAB, I ordered each of us two. BIG waste of money. We ended up discarding the whole second tostada and more than half the first. Ew.

My philosophy has always been«if it’s a hole in the wall, 99% of the time the food is GREAT!» This place definitely has some of the most authentic(and delicious) mariscos north of the border. Here’s why: — Food portions are HUGE and DELICIOUS! I recommend the ceviche de pescado and coctel de camaron. Both are guaranteed to fill you up and reasonably priced. Don’t forget the chile and beware of heartburn(totally worth it). — Service is quick and friendly. The place is a tiny diamond in the rough. It has personality and the moment you enter you begin to salivate. The smells permeate your nose and taste buds(I keed you not). Me encanta!

This little hole in the wall Mariscos place has been around since the early 80’s. I use to frequent it in college(lived around the corner). Best shrimp cocktails and Vuelve A La Vida(Return to Life) cockatils. All seafood… fast, minimal and shrimp packed. Its my little secret exposed. Only a few special people know about it. Its in my old romp. National City. I have never found another place with soooo much shrimp that wasn’t north of the border. I order the large shrimp cocktail and i put a lot of it hot sauce in it. If ya ain’t sweating, ya ain’t eating it right. My mouth is getting watery just thinking about it. All you need to know is on the menu board.
