Welcome to our business

Monique and Peter

History

Established in 2004.

New Moon Bakery and Café has been born out of a love for the mountains and a love for good food. Peter and Monique took the bakery over in October 2009, fulfilling their dream of working together and enjoying mountain life every day.

Monique brought her coffee shop experience into the business & Peter’s German background & love of food and baking added the rest.

The historic building where New Moon Bakery and Café is located had a lot of different businesses in the last 100 years; a Bed and Breakfast, hotel, bar, disco, donut shop, bagel shop, restaurant and finally in 2004 a bakery.

Today New Moon Bakery is the meeting point for locals and visitors that appreciate a relaxed rustic mountain ambience indulge in fresh baked pastries and enjoy a cup of our locally roasted coffee varieties. Skiers and hikers start their day with some yummy treats, or hang out on their way back to leisurely end their active day.

Meet the Business Owner

Peter S.

Business Owner

Corporate engineer going small business owner.

Peter grew up in the highly industrial area in Germany. After not being too happy about the environment his two daughters had to grow up in, he decided to move with his family to the Black Forrest in Germany, so his daughters could grow up in a small village with a good infrastructure and close to nature.

Peter worked for pharmaceutical corporations in multiple facilities and different countries in Europe. He somehow ended up in Boulder in 2001. He fell in love with the mountains and 6 years ago he also fell in love (Big Time!) with Monique, a Colorado native and real mountain woman which is now his wife since Almost 10 years.

After commuting to Boulder for almost 10 years and working on development and production of life-saving pharmaceutical compounds it was time for a change.

Peter loves to see a smile on a customers face when they enjoy his products, relax on the patio or have an exiting discussion with each other.

To a good life!
