Midtown Bakery & Cafe

I’m never disappointed with this quaint, hometown antique shop and café. The food is unique and good and worth the little extra price you’ll pay. I always have the fresh made soup of the day… always hearty and very tasty. Yesterday I tried the chicken Peppadew panini and I’m still dreaming about it! The only menu drawback is the turkey for any sandwich is smoked and I’m not a fan of smoked turkey (my personal taste so no star is detracted) so I always opt for chicken selections. It is a bakery after all so trying one of their luscious bakery selections is a must. This place is not to be missed!
(Suggestion: in the winter the floor is very cold so wear extra socks or your feet will feel like chunks of ice)

When in the North Central U.P., make a trek to Negaunee and the Midtown Bakery. You will be treated to warm, genuine friendliness and more deliciousness than your diet can probably handle. My Three-​Cheese Panini, custom made with my cheese choices, was perfectly grilled on Sourdough and pleased my picky palette with every bite. Their Cole Slaw is fresh, made-​on-​site and made me want more.
I hesitate to mention the Banana Cake, for fear that next time I stop by it may be all gone. What a FAB FIND! This cake would be a major HIT at any fine bakery across the U.P., Michigan or the entire Lower 48 (plus all ten Provinces and three Territories to the North). In other words, this cake is worthy of Trans-​Continental consideration.
No slight intended to the Yooper Pasty, but Midtown Bakery is many notches up the culinary ladder. Let this become the Gold Standard for good eats in the Upper Peninsula.

Every time I come back up north to visit family we always stop into Midtown.
The décor is very cute and the atmosphere is comfortable. You instantly feel like you are at home. They are very kind and prompt and even though they are extremely busy you would never know because the service never lacks.
The cheesecakes, cookies etc are fantastic but the ginger snaps take the cake! They are super thin, chewy and they taste like little discs of heaven.
The sandwiches are yummy too! The Chicken a Peppadew is my favorite.
Next time you are in Negaunee make sure to check it out!

Shockingly busy for a what is a really quiet little town!
But the staff was friendly and moving quickly so I didn’t have a wait at all. Simple salad and sandwich options, and a nice list of soups. I didn’t have time for dessert but I’d definitely make time next time :)

I went here on vacation and loved my food! Plus, the sugar cookies were AMAZING.

This is an amazing oasis of color and comfort — unexpected in the middle of downtown Negaunee! I was visiting from out of town with friends, and was so happy to find it. My friend was lucky enough to get a pumpkin parfait (a seasonal delight), and I opted for a delicious raspberry bar. Service is friendly and fast. Don’t miss it if you’re spending some time in the Marquette area.

I have loved this place sense it opened when I was in the 8^th grade. I don’t live in Negaunee anymore but when I go home I always make a point of having lunch at Midtown. Great sandwiches and baked goodies.

Love it! So cute and quaint. I love the antique yet homey feel on the inside. Oh, the homemade food is great too!!! All together, I’m glad my olé hometown of Negaunee has something like this. Now. what to do with all the antique stores???

Best place in Michigan’s UP to get an amazing slice of their wonderful cheese cakes and a great cup of coffee. Come on by, you won’t be disappointed!
