I delivered our son at Jersey Shore and it was nothing but an amazing experience. The nurses were awesome and helped this first time mom through everything.

My husband recently used Dr Demchuk MD for a cardiac Cath. We had a great experience start to finish. Everyone in the hospital is ready to accommodate you.

the nursing staff at this Hospital was well above average and individuals actually pushed the boundaries of Excellence. I spent 5 days in the Intensive Care Ward and was quite impressed with the quality of the nursing care while in the Intensive Care Ward. I was also pleasantly surprised the food coming out of the cafeteria was actually quite good considering it was hospital food. I was also quite impressed with when the event that occurred that was the reason I was in the hospital in the first place came to a head how it became an all hands on deck affair. considering 26 years ago when I first knew about this hospital I would not have recommended anyone take their dog there this hospital has come a long way with its improvements and is now capable of delivering very good medical care.

I have gone to this hospital for a few outpatient X-​rays, blood work, etc. It is a hit or miss with the staff: Some are extremely friendly and others are not. Still a huge improvement from anywhere I ever went in NY I always get my results quickly and I’ve never had to wait long in the lounge.

I would give this no stars if I could. I brought my son to the emergency room one evening and after waiting three and a half hours he still wasn’t seen by a doctor. The average hospital emergency room wait in NJ is just under 30 minutes. The Jersey shore web site says they strive to give the best service possible. John Lloyd, either change your web site to warn people of the awful emergency room service, or staff up. I finally left but still got a bill for $ 225. The only thing they did for my son was weigh him and waste our time. Pathetic excuse for a medical facility.

Please please DON’T GO THERE.

I have spine issues in my neck that went wacko. It is causing burning pain in my hands (so bad it’s waking me up at night screaming). Also a band like pain around my head and down my jaw line. Finally it got so bad I can’t lay my head down since Thursday (2 days now) because it causes shooting pain up my skull. I have dr appointment next week but that doesn’t help me over the weekend so I went there in hopes they could help me with pain until Monday.
Went through triage fast, but then sat in a hall way with high BP and horrible pain for awhile. Asked three ppl to take my BP again, finally like 30 minutes later it was taken when I was moved to a room. Now I’m in a room for 2 hours before I saw a dr. Yes 2 hours. I asked a nurse how much longer and oh boy what an (insert curse word) attitude. Doc orders CT scan and some Meds. Another (curse word here) HOUR later I got the Meds.
The nurse said she was going to come back to check on me, yeah that never happened. What should I expect the first time she took my BP she YELLED at me for moving my arm. Mean, yelling nurses, such a «great place» to come for help
Now I’m back in my room after CT and it’s hot as (another curse word) hell and we can’t figure out how to adjust the temp. My husband asks and the mean rude nurse with an attitude says there is nothing she can do. Now the heat is contributing to my high BP and just down right hurts me because I have bad, really bad neuropathy and I feel like I am going to burst into flames (no exaggeration).
So I’m on like hour 5 now when the dr Gives me my CT results and to discharge me.
They give me a small pain med there and would not give me anything to get for a few days. Now my BP… which they gave me a pill for that was suppose to help lower my BP fast is getting higher since I got there. The dr says, well your pain is contributing to the high BP
Ok let me see, my BP is higher since I got here. You think the pain is contributing to it, but you won’t give me anything. (they have a sign on the wall that says they are there to help and want to help manage your pain. So I’m really confused.)
My bottom # of my BP is over 100, stroke territory (which the dr agreed with me about) but she sent me home!!!
So I’m in horrible, horrible pain (I have been dealing with this issue for 10 years and never felt this bad) my BP is just out of (insert curse word again) control, but send me home.
Now do I go to another hospital or wait to have a stroke?
The only nice person there was the CT tech. Other than that the staff is horrible, uncaring, unhelpful, rude group of ppl.
Look I’m not a junkie trying to get pills. I’ve been dealing with this issue a long time. Some people actually need help

I have never entered this hospital without being aggravated over the horrible parking. I refuse to let the valets touch my car and many of the close lots are closed to everyone but them. I only use the pharmacy here because a family member works for Meridian and we get medications with no co-​pay if we use this pharmacy. At this point, I either let the prescriptions build up and have someone drive me so I can get dropped off while they drive around aimlessly until I am done or I just go to another pharmacy and pay the $ 7 co-​pay. There are 2 pharmacy parking spots that allow 10 minute parking but sometimes there is a car in there for hours. There is 1 handicap parking space that I could use but that is only 1 spot for the entire front of the hospital so it is always taken.

Over the past several months I have had a close elderly relative brought to Jersey Shore twice because of a fall – today was the second time. I am totally impressed with the ability to get directly to the care nurses or doctors and talk to them about her status. They are available, courteous and informative. Today I spoke to Lindsay the care nurse in the Emergency Room, who was very helpful and sympathetic and sounded very competent.
In view of the fact that I am many hours away at the moment, it is very comforting to know I can depend on quality care and good communication from Jersey Shore.

So angry and upset that they will not allow me to stay over night with a family member that sustained a head injury and was admitted after an ER evaluation. Completely heartless. This is apparently a new policy and a terrible one. This is a way to prevent patients from having an advocate at their bedside.

I travelled from CA to have a very specialized nerve repair and diaphragm pacemaker installed. The surgeons were excellent and all of the nurses and technicians were most professional.
The food was mostly good (not the mashed potatoes with the roast beef). This is a beautiful hospital and all of RNs and PCAs were extremely accomodating.
My room was always quiet and comfortable and clean. My private room had a full couch, which I think may have had been a sleeper and a reclining chair too. Very large and comfortable room, no doubt!
I would highly recommend this hospital for these reasons, especially if you travel here for phrenic nerve graft surgery.

A loved one cannot be in better hands. I took my husband to this hospital’s emergency room and he was immediately diagnosed with a subdural hematoma and sent to the 6^th floor trauma unit. He had to have surgery and from beginning to end the staff was absolutely incredible. They were reassuring, hard working, dedicated and caring. The Doctors, PA’s and nurses left no concern of mine unaddressed. They were attentive and the level of skill and care he received left nothing to be desired. This hospital is incredible and My family and I are so very grateful to the staff and administration. I have never seen or experienced care at the level I did at the Jersey Shore Medical Center University Hospital in any other hospital myself or any family member has been. They were truly awesome.

No one at one of the desks to request information but nice looking hospital. Nice pond and gardens to relax outside. Good WiFi. Descent food in café.

Thorough investigation of symptoms. They’re friendly nurses, docs, and staff. Naturally, the waiting game sucks, but this place is super packed with patients and they still continually reassure us that we have not been forgotten. A little effort goes a long way and I think they realize it.

Two weeks ago, my husband had heart surgery at JSUMC, and I can’t say enough good things about the care he received during the month he was there. The surgeon, Dr. Dejene, was wonderful and always kept us current with the plan for surgery; he would personally call me to let me know of any new developments, whether good or not so good. But everyone from the ER (God bless them) to pre-​op ICU to surgery to the CVICU to the post-​op ICU were kind and they explained everything to both of us every step of the way. They gave me my husband back. Special thanks go to Ashley the VCICU nurse, but there were so many other staff members whose names I’ve forgotten or never caught. Thank you all!

Worst ER visit ever. Spent over 7 hours here. Bathrooms were disgusting. ER was full of people that didn’t even need to be here. Terrible.

One of the best hospitals I’ve ever visited. Extremely clean, and friendly staff!
