History
Established in 1967.
M & C Café was started in 1967 by Manny and Cathy Mello, it has evolved from a six booth dining room and a small bar to a modern restaurant. Since our new remodel in that was completed in 2008 we have createed a warm and comfortable restaurant. That is complimented by a menu that includes local favorites as well as a few interpretations of our own. Our facility is also available for on premise as well as off premise catering.
Meet the Business Owner
Michael M.
Business Owner
Michael Melo son of the original owner, I have been at the restaurant since I was 6 years old. After returning from college and earning a B.S. in environmental science I became the manager in 1984. In 1988 I went to Johnson and Wales University and earned two Asociate degrees one in Culinary Arts and the other for Baking and Pastry Arts. I have also taken many other classes from to further my knowledge of cooking such as Jacques Pepin, Madeline Kammen, Jasper White as well as other local chefs from the Boston and Providence area.
I also started a catering portion to our bussiness and have created food for documentaries filmed in our area, as well as visiting dignitaries. I enjoy doing catering as well for private and corporate customers. Every event I strive to provide a unique menu but one also that will satify all the guests at an event.
I enjoy using the bounty of our area and purchase as much as possible from local fishermen and farmer to use in our restaurant.
