Mustang Shelly’s Roadhouse Ltd

Got in a routine of coming here 4 or 5 times a month for the Thursday tacos and the $ 10 Friday fish fry. Normally we rack up a $ 60 to $ 80 bill but tonight we just got waters to drink and they have the nerve to bring out two bottles of water and proceed to say they have no free drinks anymore. Well this place was nice while it lasted but we will not be visiting again. They seemed busy enough but If they are doing so poor that they need to charge for waters… food and mix drink quality is likely the next thing they will skimp on.

Great food, great drinks, great staff! $ 3 cheeseburgers on Wednesday and $ 1.25/$ 1.75 tacos on Thursdays!!!

You should come during the day when the little brunette is behind the bar. She is very attentive to everything going on, and quick to get your order. Do not come at night when the tattooed big butt in stretch pants (stretched to maximum) clueless wonder twin bimbos are behind the bar. They have no clue as to what is happening; numerous people waiting, and then leaving. took almost 45 minutes for single burger, and they screwed it up. not even busy; maybe 20 people in the bar. Shelly has let the standards plummet!

Mustang Shelly’s has been around for a long time. I do not live really far from there at all. I have stopped in a time or two or three over the years and kind of had unmemorable experiences. Last Friday I went in for a cool one (beer) and now I feel obliged to Unilocal about it. Very Positive experience. First– I never really realized that they really are a Bar and Grill. The menu looked legit, and I have had my neighbor Eileen tell me a couple times how she thinks the food is excellence. (or is the word I am looking for «excellent»)
I bellied up to the bar next to a dude who appeared to be as drunk as those guys they used to cast in the old western movies. I did not realize it until he began to converse. It turns out we used to go to the same church and he had some interesting speak for man that hammered.
Anyhow as I was about to buy my last drink I said I would pick one up for him too. I noticed that the bartender (oh yeah I failed to mention that both bartenders working were legit) I noticed that the bartender did not charge me enough. I asked if she forgot as I was leaving, and she told me that she only gave him some cola because he was too drunk and he quit noticing there was no alcohol. I thought… Well, that was very nice way to cut a guy off. She could have gave me the screws and charged me full price, but didn’t and she also did not embarrass him. Nice move. Someone did that to me in college at The Buck in Menomonie years ago. That was the right way to handle that situation. Now, I know these Unilocal reviews are not here to teach lessons like watching an episode of Family Ties, but I felt this story of my experience may encourage you to give Mustang Shelly’s a chance next time you are taking a drive down National Ave.

This local hot spot is popular with the Thursday night crowd due to the 1.25 tacos. It’s your typical busy roadhouse with lots of regulars who know the owner by name, big screen TVs and sports atmosphere. They boast the best free chips and salsa in Milwaukee. I recommend and will return.

I went to Mustang Shellys on a Saturday night. It was busy, mostly because of a birthday party that was set up in the back room, but it was not absurdly busy.
The food was fine. I had a pork chop sandwich that was tasty and appropriately cooked. The problem was the service. It was not that it was bad, it’s that the service was nearly non-​existant. Our server greeted us and brought our food, then we were completely ignored for at least 25 minutes. No drink refills at all. Our check came from someone else, who we had to flag down at the bar.
I give two stars instead of one because the food was palatable and did not take an absurd amount of time to be served, and the staff seemed friendly until they started to ignore us. I won’t be returning.
