Kate and Charley are recreational specialists who’ve logged countless hours on the water and in the mountains, testing gear and making connections with other like-​minded individuals. Charley is the technical gear specialist and Kate just wants to take you paddling and share the stoke.

Oh. My. Gosh.
I have been to rent boards from this place 3 or 4 different times over the past few summers. Maybe we just lucked out with calm conditions or with our own good moods. But it has become one of my favorite things to do on the water in NC!
I suck at it, so don’t worry about «no experience». Not a good excuse! And Charley and Kate who are the hard working owners are so upbeat and accommodating they make your transition from car seat to Neuse River water quick, seamless, and fun! I have paddled around with my wife a few times and with my then-​11yr old daughter. It has always been a blast. You can float by the downtown area, paddle over by the bridges, and chase the rising fish. Go do this. Now.
They have nice shop in downtown, but they now have a location down on the water too. So it is easy, quick, and unique.

You know that sleepy little New Bern is changing when they get a stand up paddleboarding business downtown. But with both the Trent and the Neuse Rivers, as well as numerous creeks, it makes perfect sense.
My family and I rented a paddleboard from Stand Up Outfitters this past weekend. It listed on their website that they had three types for rent, but when we got there they only had one. This is by no means a problem since we were just tooling around on the Neuse but a testament to the store’s popularity. The price was ridiculously affordable and they offered to pick it up at my father in law’s house. The owner even offered to let us borrow pfd’s since you need to have one on your board in NC.
We had a great time and look forward to renting from them again.

We were visiting New Bern this weekend for a big family wedding and wanted a fun activity that could burn a few hours and calories. We googled paddle boarding and feel so lucky to have found Stand Up Outfitters. The owners, Kate and Charlie just opened their store a few weeks ago, and NewBern is lucky to have them. They are a true testament to the benefits of paddle boarding (just look at them) and an absolute delight to work with. Accommodating, on time, courteous, we will absolutely work with them again and highly highly recommend a day on the water with their craft. Lots of fun, we thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience!
