Wow what a great little store. The lady greeted me from the get go and was so engaging and energetic and not at all enigmatic like most businesses would be when a customer is asking questions… at closing time no less! She told me when I signed up for her news letter that on a persons birthday they give you 50% off you purchase, she honestly seemed to feel bad that it was my birthday that day 3÷15÷79 and she couldn’t apply a discount of some sort after the fact, especially bc I was in a hurry to get to my massage next door! Love this place and I think everyone should give this place a try at least once!

What a pleasure to shop at this treasure trove! We found exactly what we wanted(an authentic German dirndl). And the owner, Susan, was extremely helpful, knowledgeable and friendly! It’s a bit of an Aladdin’s cave with unexpected finds. If you are looking for men’s or women’s German attire you should definitely give this place a look over and she carries many more interesting items. Definitely a fun place to browse and, if in the area again, would certainly stop in!

Once In A Blue Moon is the perfect store for New Braunfels! They offer many custom made dirndls and lederhosens for adults and children, just in time for Wurstfest. The owner has a woman who makes every single piece and they’ll run you anywhere from $ 140-$ 200. Also, they have everything that goes with the outfits, head pieces, bloomers, knee high socks and much more! They sell cute women’s clothing, boots, and accessories. My sister purchased a beautiful dirndl and the shop owner was happy to help her get fitted. It’s nice to know that New Braunfels has a shop that makes legit German attire.

Disclaimer: I am a recent CALI transplant to New Braunfels and am a consignment/thrift and vintage shopper with a ton of experience. And I guess that makes me demanding you could say. I spotted this cute downtown shop and made a point to stop in with my middle-school aged daughter after school. The shop itself is wonderfully appointed — extremely quaint and decorated to a «tee.» There’s quite a mixture of some vintage, some costume, maybe some consignment and a wee bit of thrift thrown in. Along with handmade jewelry and other period artifacts mixed in. Very cool and kinda«museum vibe-ish.» But I had to give a 2 star rating because this place is expensive! YIKES! I don’t mind shelling out more for vintage stuff of course, but there are some JCP and Target labels here going for $ 19.95. Unbelievable– really. Moreover, the shop keeper(owner) seemed to make it a point to helicopter-us around the entire time were in store— in that«I think you’re going to steal-something-from-me» kind of irritating way, while neglecting other shoppers in store— even after I purchased a couple of items(!) I will be back to shop, but probably not purchase too much here— there are lots of other places in this neck of the woods for those seeking something unique— without paying a bundle and being bugged!
