Originally built as a chapel and library for Rutgers University Kirkpatrick Chapel is the perfect venue for any event that deserves elegance, dignity, and historic beauty.

Patrick C.

Manager

Mr. Cogan considers himself a «People Person.» His management skills range from extensive Stage Management experience to over a decade in the hospitality industry.

Patrick has also spent over thirty years as a professional actor. Seven national tours have brought him to all forty-​eight contiguous states and three provinces in Canada. He has been seen and heard in commercials, public service announcements, industrials, and museum installations across the U. S…

Pat is married and is the proud father of three children. He knows that a wedding at Kirkpatrick Chapel can be the first step to an adventure of a lifetime and will do everything in his power to make sure it goes smoothly.

We had our wedding ceremony here in July. The chapel is absolutely beautiful and it was one of the main reasons we ended up having our wedding in New Brunswick. The chapel was built before air conditioning and since it is historical it still does not have it. Even without air conditioning it was cooler inside than outside.
Patrick was easy to work with and always responded quickly.
Do not believe the rumors that this place books up 2 years in advance. We booked 13 months out and ended up being the only wedding that day.

On the Banks of the Old Raritan is where you can find the historic Kirkpatrick Chapel. It’s located in the Olde Queens section of the campus (no, not the bar) and right across from the train station.
As a Rutgers alumni, it goes without saying that this chapel holds a special place in my heart. I’ve now had the honor to see two sets of friends get married in this majestic building. The room is filled with intricacies and detail. The windows are stained glass and the lighting structures look like medieval crowns. There are paintings of gentleman hanging on the scarlet painted walls. I’m not sure who the people are in the pictures, but they look important.
This is a great place for Rutgers alumnae getting married in central jersey to hold the ceremony. I hear that you need to book way in advance. Not surprisingly, a gem like this books up quickly.

We had our wedding ceremony two weeks ago at Kirkpatrick Chapel and we couldn’t be happier with the way everything turned out. The chapel doors and windows were open and there was a great cross breeze during our ceremony which made it comfortable inside the chapel. I’d like to let everyone know that Patrick the manager of the chapel is very responsive via email and assists with the coordinating of times with your event with the Rutgers University student who will open and close the chapel for the ceremony. We also utilized the Rutgers Concert Bureau for a pianist for our ceremony music. The process for everything couldn’t have been easier, it was GREAT!
The chapel was very clean and the grounds were beautiful for our pictures. All of our friends and family kept saying how beautiful everything turned out.

This is an absolutely beautiful site but not airconditioned at all. I almost gave it 3 stars for that because when temperatures soar to 90 plus and you are in formal wear you are melting and miserable and it distracts from the beauty of the place. The old chapel is bathed in history and tradition. It is interesting and charming. Getting there is a tough one because some other buildings look similar. Don’t mistake it for the other church building across the street. When you come into the university from the south the chapel is on your left. To get in there is a quick turn left into the parking. You may miss it… lots do. There is ample parking for a gathering and a driveway for limos/​cars to stop for wedding couples, family, etc. The pews are exquisite as well. The chapel seems bigger inside than it appears. If used in the winter, fall or spring it is hospitable conditions in summer use caution because of the heat and humidity. It is a great part of Rutgers and the community surrounding it. The Kirkpatrick chapel is an appealing and classy venue.

We had our wedding ceremony here. I went to Rutgers and have known about the chapel for awhile and I love the whole space. It’s very old and the grounds are gorgeous, especially in the spring. The stained glass windows in the chapel are nice, especially in the evening. The walls are painted a deep red, for the university, and there are portraits of important people in the university’s history hanging around the chapel. There’s a big parking lot in the back of the chapel making parking a breeze. Also, it is located right across the street from New Jersey Transit, making it very accessible for all people.
One downside is that there is no air conditioning. Also, they are extremely strict with their time slots. You have one half hour for rehearsal the day before and 2 hours for the ceremony. They book weddings pretty much back to back. Also, what you take in, you must take out, so have people available to help you.
Overall, I love this chapel.

Friends of mine had their wedding at the Kirkpatrick Chapel.
There’s a driveway for convenient limo access from the street to the entrance. The gorgeous grounds are maintained by Rutgers University, the chapel itself part of a long history. Besides weddings, events like baptisms and concerts can be held in its space. This might have changed, but I recall air conditioning wasn’t strong — or might not even have been available.
This place is a chapel, not a cathedral, so the parking lot is appropriately-​sized (read: not huge). If you’re organizing for a special occasion and expect a small crowd, consider the Kirkpatrick — and do visit the venue yourself!
