Great place. Lovely food, décor and service. Unique place to enjoy food and art. What a good idea. Coffee is excellent and the staff are so nice. Freshest bagels around. Try this place you will be surprised and pleased.

Great sandwiches and soup. Some sandwiches are on the skimpy side for the prices but you can’t beat the Van Gough! The staff are always friendly and accomdating. The soups are pricey but very good. The atmosphere is cozy, a good place to sit with friends. It will be extremely loud if a band is there that night.

Miss this place. Moved away a year ago. I always got a Michelangelo and potato chips. Not a vegetarian by any means, but this sandwich is so good. The chipotle mayo is incredible. The Dali is great as well. They have cookies and brownies and those were always good. Love the atmosphere. Very relaxing and warm. The art seems overpriced but they do have some nice pieces. The staff was always friendly and sometimes would have an actual conversation with you. I rarely ordered soup, but when i did it was always delicious. Nothing negative to say about this place. Im going to be back in Ohio in October and I will definitely will stop by.

I LOVE Penny Lane. I am not a coffee drinker so I cannot speak to their drinks. I do love their food! I am obsessed with the Van Gogh sandwich. I have tried almost everything on the menu. I honestly cannot find fault with anything there. The atmosphere is wonderful! It is warm and friendly. The staff loves to chit chat and make sure you are enjoying your time there. The artwork is beautiful. It’s quiet and relaxing. It’s a great place to be. I highly recommend this restaurant!

This is a 5 star place just about ANYWHERE, but for New Carlisle, I’d have to give it about 11 or 12 stars at least! We moved away from New Carlisle a couple of years ago, and while I can’t quite say this place might have kept us there, this is EXACTLY the sort of comfy, cozy, COMMUNITY place that this town needs! Beautifully restored, lots of places to sit, relax, and enjoy the«something for everyone» art work covering the walls. Not falling apart, nor tooooooo fancy-pants, NOT super religious, just a nice, easy spot to grab a GOOD cup of Joe, a couple of interesting breakfast and lunch choices, and, from what I hear, «Open-Mike» nights every once in a while for local talent, and some interesting looking LOCAL arts, crafts. and«doo-dads» choices… There Is NOTHING else like this here for miles around! Places like this are either scared off, or come and go so quickly you barely notice. SUPPORT local places like this, and(hopefully) more will come… Why trek all the way over to some chain in Springfield or Huber Heights(which most people around here do) if you’ve got this GREAT gem right in your own backyard?!?

This place is just plain awesome. I go for lunch with my parents every time I’m back in town. I have never once had something I didn’t like. Sandwiches are unique and they always seem to have a new kind of soup to try. In addition to the food, the coffee is great, the staff is very friendly, and the ambiance is warm and relaxing. P. S. There’s an open mic on Friday nights, so if that’s your thing, check it out!

If you appreciate a good cup of coffee, this place is a must. Their pour over was the best cup or coffee I’ve ever experienced. Excellent food items and a nice atmosphere to boot.

What a pleasant surprise. Expecting to have to drive into Dayton traffic to find a good cup of coffee, instead Unilocal pointed us to Penny Lane in the quiet, pleasant town of New Carlisle. Greeted by artwork in the gallery section, we followed our noses to the cosy coffee shop in the rear of this nicely-appointed and restored old brick-walled shop. Most importantly, the coffee was absolutely first-rate, prepared by a skilled and knowledgeable barista. Our adult daughter, the really serious coffee aficionado in our family, complimented the manager for preparing her one of the best lattes she has ever had.

Went here for our first time New Year’s Eve. A wonderful place! Coffee was great. They were very busy that evening and we received our coffee very quickly. A whole lot of atmosphere. Will definitely be visiting again!

As a regular customer for the past 15 months, I feel as if it’s finally time to talk about Penny Lane. From the minute you walk in the door of the gallery, you are greeted with incredible pieces of art from«Penny Lane Publishing» that are sure to fit in with your current home décor. Or even better, maybe you’re looking to redo your living room? Why not venture in and get inspiration for your renovation from a «David Bromstad» original. In addition to the artwork, you will find that they also have other options for that perfect birthday gift, items like«Love of Basketball» apparel and«Swan Creek Candle Co.» items as well. This leads me to the food and drink menu… Penny Lane has introduced an entirely reworked menu. From breakfast sandwiches and«Ozro and Rays» fresh bagels to lunchtime paninis and the«soup(s) of the day,» there is surely something for your appetite and budget. In addition to the food items, why not try my personal favorite a cappuccino, however if you are feeling the urge for something sweet may I suggest a local honey latte or a latte with your choice of «Ghiaradelli» chocolate. In closing, as a citizen of New Carlisle, where Penny Lane is located, I couldn’t begin to tell you how much of an asset it is to this community. Local churches and members of our community are oftentimes seen in the café enjoying a soup or sandwich accompanied with a fresh cup of «Boston Stoker» coffee, so you know it’s a hit with our locals. I hope this review has been more than informative and I hope to see you there when I am enjoying my usual Americano or Cappuccino.

Love it! Great coffee, barista was super knowledgeable and friendly. I got a pour over Costa Rican to go, and can’t wait to be back in the area with a few minutes to spare when I can hang out for a few. Only downside was the selection, but with a shop this size, I don’t want them stocking a bunch of single estates to be served less than fresh.

I work here and let me just say, as someone who is constantly in the gallery and café, its a lovely place to be. I am a bit biased but the owners are as nice as they come, the food is creative and served as filling portions, and the coffee is made from the quality products of Boston Stoker. We have a big public parking lot behind our building so there is plenty of parking, a lovely patio with an umbrella for shade, free Wi-Fi and a beautiful and warm décor in our interior. Our gallery features designs from artists from all across the country, from right down the street to all the way to the coast, we have a variety to say the least. Please come stop by and see what we have to offer!

I am beyond excited that a coffee shop has come to this little town. My first impression when walking in was a very clean place and friendly staff. I had the BBQ wrap, which was wonderful! BBQ in a wrap seemed weird, but I like BBQ, so decided to give it a try. Boy am I glad I did. The cole slaw on it balances out the fresh jalapenos and made for a mouthful of yummy flavors. I can’t wait to give their other food items a try, though having had this first it is going to be hard not to want to get it every time. Will probably get a side of cole slaw every time just because it was so good. The atmosphere is definitely more gallery feel vs. chill coffee spot and the tall tables make it feel a bit like a bar. This could be what they are going for, but I hope over time they add a few regular height tables and even more comfy seating throughout the whole place, as they have plenty of space. Right now, they have two love seats and a few straight backed cushioned chairs. I’m one of those people that thinks comfy furniture in a coffee shop should out number the tables, but I go to a coffee shop to chill not do homework or office work. It was to late in the evening for me to try an espresso, so my star rating might change once I have some. Having worked in a coffee shop I am very picky with my espresso drinks, but it sounds like they have received some good training from the folks at Boston Stokers. So, so glad you are in town and I wish you guys all the best. I will definitely be spreading the word.

Located on the main drag, this cozy space has been empty for the last few years. It has recently reopened as a combo art gallery/coffee shop. The menu is limited, but I don’t find that a problem. Hubby and I had the Picasso; smoked ham, goat cheese, avocado, tomato, lettuce and red onion with dill mayo on foccacia bread and a smoked turkey wrap; cucumber, cream cheese, spinach and casabi sauce. Both were delicious! Salads, desserts and coffee of all kinds offered as well. A nice space to relax with some food or coffee… free wi-fi, too! There is a small patio seating area in the back for fresh air dining. Of course, there is artwork on display and for sale. Welcome them to the community; a nice additon to New Carlisle!
