Decent dance clubs can be a tricky thing to find, and there are hundreds to choose from, each with a different vibe and group of attendees. I started coming to Afterlife in June of this year, and have honestly had some of the most fun I’ve had in a while at this spot. It’s tricky finding a good afterhours scene, but after coming here the first time, I wanted to go back again and again. I have made some great friends from this place, and would recommend people give it a chance, as you might be pleasantly surprised. The bouncers are quite nice(once you take the chance to introduce yourself and get to know them,) the layout with two rooms playing different music is unique and refreshing, and almost everyone I’ve ever bumped into here has been friendly. If you like the rave scene, good EDM/Techno/Rave/House music, and don’t mind getting intimate with one another for a breath of fresh air outside(they cordon off a sliver of a section for smokers and others outside the doors) I think you will enjoy this spot.

Last minute decision to check out Afterlife. Not my usual scene but it was a good time, and it gave me a chance to wear my bitchin’ new wig and contacts and go crazy with the makeup for a night. Everyone was super friendly, both staff and attendees. Two rooms with different music spinning, but both solid club music — EDM/Techno/Rave-y type stuff. Full juice bar(after hours = no sale of alcohol, but you can BYOB with a corkage fee — no beer, though.) and a sectioned off area outside for smokers. Couches line the place so if you don’t feel like dancing, or you just need a break there’s comfy space to chill out. It wasn’t very busy the night I went, but I could see the place holding a good crowd. There had been a big event just the night before so I’m assuming that’s why. A little out of my normal area but I’d go again if I were looking for a late night jaunt. Friday and Saturday nights, Midnight — 6AM. This is the basement level of Empire(formerly Gotham Citi) at the corner of Church and Crown. Cover was $ 20 the night I went, but probably varies. 18+.
