Premiere Hotel and Suites

The wifi doesn’t work on my room. I spent hours trying to connect and even called the Internet company but the internet doesn’t work at all…
The room is fine…

Pretty cruddy motel all around. The guy who works the desk is nice enough, but was unfortunately unable to solve the problem of the broken wifi. He referred my dad to the service company, with which he spent the next hour attempting to solve the problem. Mission: failure.
The location is downright depressing. You’ll find yourself behind a closed-​down newspaper building thats now under construction.
The room was dirty. The carpets were sticky and cheap and needed some serious help. I found a bunch of dead and alive beetles and spiders (which i promptly killed). Its not like i was looking for them, but i was a tad surprised when i saw a fat beetle crawling towards me. There was also dirt, especially piled in the corner areas.
The plastic strip that separates the carpet and linoleum doesnt go all the way, so theres a charming gap.
To sum it up: i got the creepy crawlies (literally) at the prospect of sleeping here. Yikes.

We stayed the weekend on a summer road trip with our children. The suite was clean and well laid out. There were 3 TV’s and space for everyone to find their corner to relax. The courtyard was a nice slice of nature in an otherwise growing concrete development. The best surprise was breakfast –hot options are a welcome change from continental spreads. Service at front desk was courteous and helpful. Décor is a little worn and ordinary, but perfect for $ and our purpose.

This place has a lot of heart. The rooms feel very homey. I love the breakfast and the light dinner. The dinner is hit or miss, but when it’s good it’s damn good. I just had the tacos on taco Tuesday and they were better than most mexican restaurants I’ve been to.

We have family in the area and have been trying to find a decent hotel to overnight in that doesn’t break the bank. This place fits that bill perfectly. It’s spacious, with a full kitchen, soft comfy bed and nice seating area. The free continental breakfast was also a plus. The water pressure in our room was not the best, but that’s a minor problem for our short-​term-​stay needs. The people above us seemed to be doing some kind of aerobics class, but that’s not the fault of the hotel. Maybe ask for a second floor room.

Rude and impatient evening shift front desk man and disinterested shuttle driver whose statements to the front desk staff in front of me made it obvious that he hated his work. Room smelled funny but is set up like a one bedroom apartment which is its one redeeming factor (and the free wifi). However the overall quality of the place and set of the hotel itself has the feel of a motel. Free shuttle service to Yale, union station and the airport every 30 minutes is nice. I’m not picky with where I stay so if it weren’t for the rude staff, I would have given it more stars.

This «extended stay» style hotel offers so much more than your typical Extended Stay! I stayed for just over a week and was so comfortable and cozy despite all the snow, ice, and rain. The continental breakfast was phenomenal and they even have a free shuttle that runs all day and will take you pretty much anywhere! Conveniently located near the wharf, too. The service here was AMAZING!

The set up of the buildings takes getting used to but I had no complaints. Wasn’t looking for dirty places, did not see any. I forgot to put my parking Pass in the car but nobody noticed that either. Heat can only be turned up to 80. I didnt get much sleep night before and didnt eat so I was freezing when I got in. I was welcomed by 8 plush Pillows on my bed, Soo nice! Water in the shower gets hot. I was happy. Went to sleep happy.
I would add, there’s a full kitchen in every room.

A comfortable stay that feels very homey.
The suites are apartment style and spread out over a series of separate buildings. Each room has a full kitchen, dining table and the overall feel that you’re staying at home.
Pros:
Very friendly and helpful staff.
Rooms have a dishwasher, full-​sized fridge and a fireplace.
Very close to I-​95.
The continental breakfast had many offerings.
Cons:
No wood/​logs for the fireplace.
Room was very drafty on a cold night.
Although staff was courteous enough to shovel after a snow storm, if they’re going to do that at 5:30 a.m., please don’t be noisy.
The place is hard to find if you’re not familiar with the location.
Overall, I do recommend staying at Première, especially if you need a place for a long-​term stay.

Staying here for a few weeks for work. Very comfy beds. Kitchen ok but I wish the largest burner on the stove worked. Food pretty decent, homemade banana bread is delicious. There is a shuttle that will take you downtown but if it snows they won’t venture out so you may have to get a taxi. Oh speaking of snow, they like to scoop snow at 1 am so be prepared to be woken up as the shovel bangs against your front step. Location is in an industrial area with a not so nice area bordering one side so you really don’t want to go out walking after dark. No where to walk to anyway, there isn’t a grocery store, restaurant or gas station within a safe walking distance.

Stayed here on a family road trip. We were very happy with the room, kitchen, price that was so easy to get to and from on our travels. I would definitely recommend staying here!

I stayed during a recent Harvard-​Yale game, and they treated us very politely despite the fact that we were cheering for Harvard!!!

This place is kind of pricey but it seems to run about the same as the other 3 stars in the area. It’s basically an old apartment that’s been converted into hotels. They’re not bad, but everything is kind of cheap and run down. You feel like you’re in a much cheaper hotel. Other than that, no complaints.

huh. I’m not sure why this place doesn’t have a higher rating. I stayed here for a week while in town on business and loved it. Breakfast was great, they have a nice assortment of teas and snacks by the front desk, and it was clean and well run.
Not being from the area, I had to call ahead of time with a number of logistical questions about New Haven, and the staff was always extremely helpful.
Overall, I was very happy with this place and would recommend it to anyone. It was perfect for someone like me who wanted to just chill out on a couch in front of the tv after a long day and then get a hot breakfast first thing in the morning before heading out.

This place is definitely meant as an extended stay hotel. The rooms are located in different blocks/​buildings, and each room has its own exterior entrance. Suite style rooms means that you have a «living room» area complete with a couch and fireplace (but no wood?), and a kitchen, complete with a stove, microwave, fridge, pots, pans, utensils, cups, etc. They give you a bag of popcorn that you can pop, which my friends and I appreciated. The bed is ginormous and suuuuper comfy. I could have pretty much slept all day in it.
The free shuttle only runs until 8:30pm, so if you plan to be out later than that, you’ll probably need to taxi it back, or find some other form of transportation. You have to request the shuttle ahead of time, and it can come pick you up and take you to where you need to go. It’s not the most convenient way of getting around, but at least it’s something. The main drawback of the hotel is its location– it would take a while to walk to downtown, and by taxi, it costs about $ 9 to get there.
The free continental breakfast was actually pretty good in my opinion. There was HOT food, which was quite welcome. Of course it’s not super amazing fare, but it’s edible and not half bad, especially given that it’s free.
tl;dr: This place would be more worth it to stay if you planned to be in the area for more than one day. I do however, wish it was closer to downtown or that the shuttle service was more convenient.

Paid $ 197 a night for 2 nights. I left for a wedding at 10am. When we returned to the room at 5pm, the room was not visited by housekeeping and in the same condition that we left it, not cleaned.
We were told that they had a lot of checkouts and were busy, but they were still working. About ½ hour later, housekeeping showed up to clean the room. We had to vacate the room while they cleaned.
Maybe I have high expectations, but, I would have expected to have a clean room after being away for 7 hours.
I complained and have asked to have the manager call me. Let’s see what happens.
By the way, no WiFi in the rooms.

We stayed at this hotel for 3 nights. It’s not awful, but we were definitely disappointed. The upsides: The breakfast was good. The rooms are plain but clean. The downsides: The outdoor pool is very plain and is not heated. The days were hot and a swim would have been nice, but the water was freezing so the pool might as well not have been there. Hardly anyone was in it.
We had a confirmation for a room with 2 double beds. When we got there, all we could have was a room with 2 double beds for only 1 night. For the other nights we would have to take a bed (for the parents) and a pull out couch (for the teen). The bed was comfortable, but the pull out couch was not. There was no room for the coffee table once the couch was unfolded. Worse, the room was on the second floor (outdoor stairs), so if one of us hadn’t been strong enough to carry the bags up stairs, we would have been in trouble.
Most disappointing was the attitude of the staff. The desk help was just «doing their job» without much enthusiasm. Answers to questions were curt. The smiles were forced, as if they were smiling because they were told to do so. The manager was not gracious. Our questions or expressions of disappointment clearly were an annoyance to her. When we asked why our reservation only got us the room we wanted for one night, she basically said, «Well that’s the way Première works — and if you check out early you still have to pay.» If the staff was improved and the advertised description more accurate, people like us would know what to expect and not be so disappointed.

Rooms were large and OK and they did have kitchens — although this was not important to us. The bathroom needed lots of work, and the bed was rough. It had a flat screen TV and there were no amenities nearby, no restaurants or breakfast places or shopping. It was near the highway just not easy to get to. It was not worth the money.

One of the nicest hotels to stay while you’re visiting New Haven.
The staff are really nice and the rooms are spacious. We got an executive suite for like $ 130 a night, which included a bed, living room, and even a kitchen. Flat screen plasma was pretty nice too. They also have free continental breakfasts, which isn’t too bad. They give you the whole deal: bacon, sausage, eggs, orange juice, and coffee. Its a pretty good place to stay.
But like the reviewers said, its pretty far away from downtown. You’d want to take your car up here or rent a car for sure.

My husband and I stayed here for several months recently on a business assignment in New Haven. For long stays, this place was comfortable and furnished with all the essential necessities.
From speaking staff, this place has undergone remodeling and changed owners within the past year or so, so any stays before that time period may be out of date. At some point in time I believe it was a Residence Inn, so it retains qualities common to that type of establishment (Guest House, Studio apartment furnishings, manager’s evening reception/​light dinner, etc.).
Each room is furnished with a full kitchen including fridge, stove, oven, sink with garbage disposal, microwave, toaster, coffee maker, and a dishwasher. This is in addition to plates, glassware, silverware, cooking utensils, pots/​pans, and a couple of knives. It is pretty complete for long stays, but if you ever find yourself needing any more specialized kitchen stuff, there is an IKEA right down the street from here. Some of the units have newer appliances, while others have older ones, but, they all seem to work fine.
The living room area has a balcony (some private, some along the walkway). They are furnished with a pull out sofa bed, desk, coffee table, etc. There is a flat screen TV with cable in each room that can get fuzzy but only because the TV itself swivels on the TV stand to accommodate different viewing angles, and occasionally the cable gets loose in the back.
The bedding is THE BEST thing about this place. The beds are extremely comfortable, and the linens are high thread count and super soft on your skin. They also have TONS of pillows in each room so you can lay in bed and feel like royalty here. I was here part of the winter and let me just say it was hard to get out of this when there was snow outside.
They have a full breakfast every morning and 24 hour fresh coffee and tea in the lobby. On weeknights (except Friday) there was light supper, typically serving traditional American home style food. They had cookies for dessert, which varied in quality. One lady in particular made the best, softest, most delicious chocolate chip cookies ever! And then there was the lady that burned them black every time she cooked.
Overall I liked staying here and it was pretty easy to find it coming off of 95. There isn’t much in the way of stuff to do in the walking vicinity of this place since it is somewhat industrial, but there was a shuttle service to anywhere in New Haven for free, so that was o.k. Plus the train station is right around the corner.
All that said, there were some concerns. While just about every employee was extremely friendly and helpful, there was one glaring exception. It was hit or miss with her, so occasionally she was cordial, but other times it was bad enough to make me want to leave and find somewhere else to stay. Yeah, that mean.
The rooms are carpeted everywhere but the kitchen and bathroom. If you wear socks in the room and walk around in the room, they will get some black on the bottom from the carpet. Just wear slippers or sandals inside, though, and you’ll be o.k. Oh, and the ACs seem to be on their last legs. I kid you not, there was an AC repair truck in the parking lot everyday. Luckily, when my AC broke, they fixed it right away.
Last and most petty, were the mega groups booking here. I know places have to make money and I can’t be the only person staying somewhere, but, on most weekends this place is packed! Everything from highschool sports teams (meaning: tons of bratty teenagers making a big time mess at breakfast time), to family and church group reunions. Parking was difficult to find near your room on weekends, but, there was an extra lot to park nearby.
The complaints take only one star away. Not so much the last complaint as much as the first ones. I would stay here again, and I probably will stay here again in the future when business demands it. It gets to be homey, and I really liked the staff.
