«Georgia Hots» is what its all about for me at Sweeny’s, this giant over sized hot dog is spiced-up nicely, add sauerkraut and extra spicy mustard and you enter another realm of hot dog delight. If you like your doggies pizazzed up with spicy character you outa think about dropping by to check it out, I did some years ago and now the hook is in and the line gets taut whenever I’m in the New Haven area.

Since I was a child, my father would take us here on the weekend visits to my grandmother’s house. We always order the yummy hummels hot dogs and they are steamed. He offers all different types of toppings including mustard, relish and home made sauerkraut, and Georgia hot’s. Since Mr. Sweeney knows our family, he always throws in a complimentary bag of chips. We love this little truck. The Mexican places have taken over as of recently, but this place is a staple of my childhood and my adult life!!!

When I was a kid, my father would always take me to all the roadside dives and I have to admit, we always went to Cappy’s Hot Dog Truck. Right next to Cappys… Sweeney’s hot dogs. We went there a couple of times when Cappys wasn’t there, then one day it wasn’t. Eventually the Mexican Food trucks all but took over and Sweeney’s is holding on to what was once a childhood memory of mine. So, what is one supposed to do. Especially when big box Ikea is selling 2 hot dogs, a soda, and chips for $ 2. I will always support the local guy. He knows me and it’s the same guy it was 25 years ago.
