Love this unique store. Always the best jewelry and hand crafted gifts. You can find something for everyone. The staff is amazing. Helpful and knowledgable. Sometimes I go just for the wrapping! Also the chocolate they feature is outrageous

Wave Gallery is one of the most underrated gift shops in New Haven. Yes – it is expensive, but that shouldn’t detract from your experience. It’s worth just walking through the shop, because everything is so well curated and displayed. As a college student, it’s easy to give a bevy of identical type gifts from Urban Outfitters or JCrew, but Wave refreshes stock enough that gifts continue to be unique.
They offer Alex and Ani bracelets (which satisfy those who were upset when the actual Alex and Ani storefront closed, a few months ago) along with a selection of other jewelry. All of their soaps are adorable and smell great. They have a number of teas and a ton of inspirational quote blocks, on display on the other half of the store. The chocolate truffles are delicious.
My favorite thing to do is the take a close look at the random collected items in the shelves and nooks of the store. I found an adorable ceramic ring tray with a little cat in the corner, along with another more simple version that reads «sisters» in the middle. I also admired a pillow embroidered with the image of a dog decked out in fancy attire.
The best reason to come here is that their gift wrapping is phenomenal. They have an array of boxes and wrapping paper to choose from, along with a ton of ribbon and cute filling material. They do a better job than I ever could.

Wave New Haven is fun, inspiring, and transporting. The owner is resourceful in gathering the perfect combination of artists, craftspeople, high-​end design and jewelry and intermingling them with the latest funky, trendy merchandise.
I dare anyone to walk through the store and not smile at the delightful experience. Recently I went to buy a gift and ended up with the most perfect fall jacket and shawl for myself. As for the gift, I found it right away and made notes for the up-​coming holidays. While my selection was being gift-​wrapped (per gratis) I savored an exquisite chocolate truffle and browsed through the teas. Don’t forget the selection of cards that no one else carries.
Everyne has their favorite go-​to gifts. For me it’s the luminous soap shaped like gems or the plaques with just the right message. If I need help the salespeople are expert and patient. They love the store and it shows.
Before I leave I visit the artisan jewelry on my wish list. How does Wave New Haven find all this great stuff? It’s like visiting a museum, a crafts fair, and a tiny shop in The West Village.

Eclectic jewelry and gift shop with friendly, knowledgeable staff and top-​caliber service. Excellent variety of cards for every occasion in styles ranging from irreverent to elegant. Courtesy gift wrap a cut above «cut-​n-​tape.» Novel gifts for all ages and occasions. The fact that the buyers take time and care to select only the best choices means your visit can be as brief or your stay as lengthy as you like. I stopped by to find a gift for a co-worker’s child’s first birthday and they pointed me in the perfect direction with tasteful, thoughtful selections in a range of price points. Can’t wait to go back and browse for a few «gifts» to myself!

If you are looking for unusually but something special then this is the place to go. The are also retailers for Alex and Ani and Pandora. Very helpful and friendly folks. They have the cutest gift wrapping. I recommend this place.

What a fun place! I have to go here every year before Christmas to see what’s new. Last time I went there and older gentleman and Myself spent about 20 minutes laughing together at the card section… So much better then Hallmark. The best thing about this place is their gorgeous gift wrapping! That means a lot to a busy woman!

They have a good collection of art and other gift-​worthy, keep-​worthy items. I wish the staff were more excited to greet customers. That would have made my experience here even more amazing.

Cute little boutique that has been here for years; it’s country store meets jewelry and accessories shop. Didn’t buy anything, but enjoyed the browsing.

One of my favorite shops in New Haven! There’s so much to see in this little store. They have unique items on their shelves, some you’ll never find at Target ever. Don’t get me wrong, I love Target. However, the Wave Gallery has carefully curated items that are truly special. The price ranges from less than $ 10 and up so there’s something for everyone’s budget. There’s jewelry, accessories, knick knacks, art, greeting cards, baby items and toys, etc. For me, it’s really tough NOT to purchase something from The Wave!

Very nice boutique style gift store. Great for browsing if you happen to wander in. Expensive, but many unique, handcrafted items and exquisite jewelry pieces available which seem to be high quality. A hidden gem at the back of the store: their greeting card selection. Slightly more expensive than a typical card ($ 4-​$ 5 on average) but many are artsy, unusual, and creative. During my visit I was drawn to a line of cards that had Victorian style designs which were completely gorgeous. I bought one on a whim for my sister because I couldn’t stop staring at the card, it was just so pretty and ethereal. The woman at the counter was friendly and complimented the card, seeming sincere. She also suggested framing the card afterward which I am hoping my sister will do. Overall a very pleasant visit. I also like the location on Chapel Street. Every time I’ve been to Wave I just happen to be passing by and get lured in by some shiny, pretty thing I see dangling in the window. A classy establishment.

Oh this place is full of beautiful things. The jewelery is impressive, though most of it is pretty pricey. It’s artistic and silver and shiny and contemporary. There are some $ 19.99 earrings (and some cheap $ 8 ones, too), but plenty of several-​hundred-​dollar items, too.
There’s a nice selection of cards and gifts (soaps, etc.). I bought a pretty cool birthday card for $ 3.

I fell in love with Wave when I first moved to New Haven over a decade ago — and it’s still my favorite place to shop for gifts — or just to pick up something to brighten the day.
The staff is personable and knowledgeable, and always ready to help.
They used to have a knock-​your-​socks-​off sale every year, but unfortunately the space they used is no longer available (as I understand it). I have a lot of really great stuff from that sale! LOL
Definitely a must on your list of shopping spots.

Smart people let Amazon wrap their wedding presents, or at least manage to scrounge up wrapping paper and tape more than 30 minutes prior to weddings at which said presents are presented. Dumb people rely on the kindness of others. I fit into the latter category.
Which is why one day, I ran frantically into Wave Gallery at 3:30 PM, wielding an unwrapped gift for a 4:00 wedding, and asked the lovely ladies on staff if they could help my flailing ass. Word to the wise — Wave Gallery does not have a wrapping service. They will wrap gifts bought in store, but they don’t even have a way of charging for wrapping. Somewhat desperate, I asked if they would wrap my gift just as a personal favor, and that I would be happy to pay what they charged. Lucky for me they were very obliging and saved the day. Wheeee!
Other than helping strangers, Wave Gallery also provides a varied stock of adorable things. Cute jewelry, Uglydolls (I freakin’ love Uglydolls), cards for all occasions, and more often than not some sort of baked goodie for customers. It’s the kind of little shop you take your time browsing, and where you stop to coo at various items and once in a while, buy something. As alluded to, service is kind and accommodating, and the place just has a warm, inviting feel to it. If you’re ever tempted to stop in and check out the latest in knick-​knacks, indulge yourself, and tell them that frantic-​wedding-​guest says hi.

I used to walk by the Wave every day to and from work. This is dangerous you see, because I have a slight shopping problem. By slight I mean that every time I walk by a store that has anything remotely interesting in the window, I salivate. And, since I’m poor, every time I realize that I can’t have what I want because I can’t afford it (often) I die a little inside.
But the Wave, oh the Wave… I have lots of earrings from there! Most things are pretty expensive (like the glasses that I want) but the jewelry is pretty spot on in price. And the best part is that they’re mostly made locally!
And I have to agree, the service at the Wave is incredible. Sometimes when you walk in they’ll have free cookies or «samples» of breads and pastries. And when they’ve accidentally marked the wrong price on an item, they’ll honor the cheaper price as any good retail establishment should (yay sushi dishes).

Sometimes, I have tunnel vision. Actually, food tunnel vision is probably a more accurate name for it. So for the first year and a half that I lived in New Haven, Chapel Street represented only Claire’s, Roomba, Atticus, and little Thai-​ville. You mean there are actual STORES on Chapel Street?!?
Then one day, on a whim, I entered Wave. I instantly fell into Like. It was almost Love, but as Patrick Dempsey taught me years and years ago, you can’t buy me love, because goodness knows I couldn’t afford it at Wave.
Wave is lovely and adorable and endearing and artsy and fun and interesting. But lovely and adorable and endearing and artsy and fun and interesting things don’t come cheap. It’s worth it, as most things are high quality, but it’s certainly not where I would buy everyday items, although everyday items are not really the type they stock…
They have tons of jewelry, ceramics, candles, soaps (I once spent 10 minutes just smelling every single one), crafts, and more. One great thing is the boxing and ribboning. I have bought some gifts for people from Wave, and they have been wrapped and presented so beautifully.
And one of the best parts is the customer service. The woman who helped me each time (ok, I am contributing to the de-​humanization of the service industry because I failed to ask for her name) is so nice and cheery and full of great suggestions.
Put it all together, and you have a great store. I often just stroll through, getting an eyeful, admittedly usually on my way to getting a tummyful at one of the nearby eateries. But it’s such a nice, whimsical way to lose yourself for a bit and tantalize your visual sense with neat items.
