This place was recommended for the bar and restaurant as one of the best and most popular in town(split review under«The Raven Restaurant»). We decided to try the hotel as well. The Raven Hotel has expanded and bought a B&B which is separated but right behind the actual Raven with a walkway connecting the two. We were also told that they had bought another B&B across the street which is in the process of being remodeled. The handful of rooms that are attached to The Raven Bar and Restaurant main building are next to the main entrance with windows and door facing the parking lot. In fact, one room door is literally inches away from the door to the main building. These rooms can become quite noisy and restless from the music coming from the bar and dance floor. The dance area, which is an additional section to the building located between the bar and the pool, has garage door-style walls, which are opened in the summer and when weather permitting. This can create even a bigger annoyance to those who want to get some rest as music is loud and goes on until late. In addition, the crowds walking by your room, cars coming in and out of the parking lot and the smokers standing in front of your room door can be annoying and interrupt your beauty rest time. Amazingly, these are the most expensive rooms which go for a minimum $ 150 a night or higher on weekends and summer/high season. There is no proper check-in counter. Just walk over to the bartender or host stand in the restaurant and that’s where you check-in… classy! We opted for the detach property. This property used to be the old«Cardinals» B&B and bought over by The Raven. The detached building is located behind the main building which has it own private parking lot and entrance. These features were quite appealing as we wanted to have a good time but also get some rest. The buildings are connected by a walkway between the two by the parking lots. The prices on these rooms fluctuate between $ 90 and $ 150 a night as well. First of all, we drove around the block looking for this detached building but we could not find it. We kept driving up and down the street to realize that the old«Cardinals» B&B sign was still up and that’s why we kept missing it. I could not believe my eyes as the outside appearance of it was quite disgusting. It looked more like an abandoned building. The Raven’s main building looks so nice, freshly painted and well taken care of. But this one seems to be the ugly-ducking of The Raven. Cracked walls, paint pealing off and outside overall appearance needs to be taken care of. As for the room in general, the bathroom and shower had mold in it and the shower door won’t even close properly. I had to slam the shower door very hard to close it. The room was dusty with old furniture and an old bed. It just look dingy and not a warm feel to it. It just seems that The Raven bought the building and left it just the way they got it; no renovations or even a fresh coat of paint… not even changed the sign in the front of the building! The TV is old, small and hanging from the ceiling like a hospital room with a VCR still attached to it… There are creepy masks and ornamental heads hanging from the walls and laying on the counter. Very weird. Finally, the location of The Raven is quite far from New Hope requiring to drive when wanting to go out anywhere. If you stay in the main building, you get wi-fi but none available in the detached building. However, the restaurant and bar experience is completely difference(see my review). The Final Verdict: Location: 0.0 out of 5.0 Lobby/Reception Area: 0.0 out of 5.0 Staff friendliness/responsiveness: 4.0 /5.0 Room Décor/Ambiance: 0.0 /5.0 Room cleanliness: 0.0 /5.0 Room Amenities: 0.0 /5.0 Bed Comfort: 0.0 /5.0 Check-in/out Speed: 0.0 out of 5.0 Room Price Value: 0.0 out of 5.0 Total Score: 5 out of 45(11 out of 100% or F– Grade) Final Comment: This can be a quite popular place for the high-t dance, bar, restaurant and entertainment(see The Raven Restaurant review) but not for the hotel experience. Better, cleaner, worth-for-the-price hotels and B&B’s centrally located in town are a better selection and choice.

The Raven is open again! Russell Eiffert plays Piano Bar in the Oak Room on Thursdays 5PM to 9PM& Saturdays from 8PM to Midnight. He is a genius & knows zillions of Show Tunes & Standards. You will usually find an amicable group singing along with him. It’s usually a Gay crowd but all are welcomed. Michael Ferreri plays on Fridays. There is also a pool & large screen-enclosed outdoor patio for smoking.
