This is the best guitar repair center in New York State. Chris is a master Luthier. I have played guitar for 46 yrs and would go nowhere else. The museum is also the best as is his music lesson department. Many famous players use him. A++++

I am a well-established artist-educator and have known luthier and American Guitar Museum director Chris Ambadjes for almost 40 years. He has exclusively done all of my work on various acoustic & electric guitars, mandolins and other string instruments. The wide range of repairs he has done are from fret jobs and setups to serious restoration(headstock breaks, cracks, refinishing) and little tweaks that make a world of difference to the professional player and collector. Chris is so uniquely skilled and meticulous. He treats every guitar he repairs as if it was his own, and is so diversely qualified that I unconditionally recommend ANY repair work be brought to him. He has done work for numerous guitar luminaries who do not trust their precious instrument with anyone else, and for good reason. And if that isn’t enough, his repair fees are so reasonable. As a player himself, he knows that professional gigging musicians can’t afford the high prices some luthier repair people charge in Manhattan. It is well worth the trip to New Hyde Park, Long Island. And once you get there, you’ll be amazed at his standing exhibit of vintage instruments. So if you need a repair done properly, in timely fashion and with the highest level of care and expertise, call Chris at(516)-488−5000(closed Mon and Sun) and your instrument will be in the best of hands. The Guitar god’s have answered my prayers! I finally found a Luthier who really knows his craft and knows it well. Who would ever thought a guitar museum existed in Long island NY??? In New Hyde park of all places??? I had my guitars«set up» in the past mostly by major musical retail chains. I was never really too happy with the work, but I didn’t know anyone else I could really trust. I always asked around and a employee in a music store told me I should have the guitar techs at the«American Guitar Museum» set up my guitar. Wow! a competitor actually recommended these guys. When I showed up at the American Guitar Museum I was greeted by Chris, he runs the place and sets the guitars up. I can always tell when someone is passionate about what they do, Chris is no different, you can tell this guy is extremely passionate about guitars and his craft. I brought my beautiful«Martin» acoustic/electric guitar for a «Full Setup» The action was set up last time on this guitar but it was still way too high and the intonation was still off. When I picked it up 2 days later the guitar played like«BUTTER» The action was perfectly lowered, he cut the nut and saddle down. The neck was straightened and the fretboard polished. The guitar sounded AWESOME! Chris was able to adjust the intonation perfectly throughout the whole neck! CHRIS — you’re my HERO! I wouldn’t trust my guitars to anyone else from now on. Now get this! I have 90 days from the date of the work they performed for any further adjustments at no charge! These guys guarantee and stand by their work! How can you not love that?! Now I didn’t have time to tour the museum but I can see they have some nice vintage guitars and gear. I look forward to return for a tour. One important thing to remember when you do visit, photography is not permitted. The museum has a small private parking lot in the rear and there is street Parking available. Any guitar enthusiast should pay this place a visit!

Chris is the greatest. I have never gotten such quality work done on my bass guitars — and they work with you, give you options, and don’t steal you blind. After having a bass guitar worked on, I brought it back 2 more times for further adjustments due to the weather at NOCHARGE!
