T.F.O’Brien & Co

This company is not adequately staffed. We purchased a preferred customer package for cleanings. They were booked up a month in advance so I ended up on a cancellation list. This went fine since it wasn’t an emergency. As per their brochure see below:
«„First in line“ priority service. Only ESP customers receive service on holidays. Plus, the first and last service calls of the day are reserved exclusively for you. We mean it when we say we’re always there for you.»
One of our units had a manufacture default. This isn’t their fault. So I called and paid for an emergency visit. It was around $ 100 and on the unit was checked. I told them they will order the part. So now several days later I get a call that the first available is July 21^st, but I will be put on a cancellation list. Wow. How is that acceptable? Of course I’m infuriated and what’s more stressful is that I have 2 bulldogs and it’s 85 degrees in our home. The woman’s response: I have 2 dogs and no AC. Wow. Some nerve. I’m writing the BBB. Now i’m scrambling to find another vendor as this is a legitimate emergency for our pets. They are clearly short staffed and stressed out over it.

Just an update. The TF O Brien tech had given me a quote to change several valves in my heating system. Everything is working fine.
These crooks are real scam artists.

Roy, a service man for T.F. O’Brien, came to check on my gas burner before I fired it up for the winter. I have not had a problem since I switched to gas with T.F. O’Brien, but I just wanted to make sure everything was in working order.
Roy called in advance of his arrival and checked out my unit. He mentioned that I might want to have my water heater checked (for an additional cost of only 25.00) and I agreed. I had not realized they would do this service for an item they had not installed. When he checked he discovered a lot of sludge in the bottom of the unit. I had not mentioned to him that the water in the bathtub had been a bit yellow, but that seemed to be the problem.
Now the water is fine.
Roy was a pleasure to work with!

We got off to a rough start with a less than helpful tech installing 3 new PTAC unit’s, but ultimately Chris & the staff at TF O’Brien resolved all issues and left us with everything in excellent working condition. They stuck with us thru manufacturer problems with the new units and saw that all was covered and fixed at no additional charge. A great job in the end. I would recommend their service.

Awful company! My split unit was not cooling so I called TF for service. Their basic charge just to come out was a hefty $ 140. I agreed since I want to make the unit functional. Their tech came in and after looking at the unit told me there is definitely a leak somewhere and that he will have to pump the unit with Nitrogen and come back in a week to see if and where it leaks from so he can fix it. He charged me another $ 200 for this nitrogen on top of the $ 140 for a total of $ 340 and left the site. One week later a different tech came in and after looking at the unit started to give me a whole list of problems: he said plumbing is not done right, pipes are not long enough, electrical is not up to code, unit is not sitting properly and ended up with a $ 1600.00 bill if he were to fix all those things.
I should have been informed of those problems on the first visit so I would not waste money on looking for a leak.
I contacted a neighbor who I just happen to meet at a community event and he found a lose joint that was causing a leak. Did not need $ 200 worth of Nitrogen to find that leak! He tightened the screw and filled it with coolant and the unit is working perfectly.
I would not trust this company for any future work.

Ouch, awfully rude lady on the phone and they don’t even want to talk to you without paying their $ 139 fee. Don’t even bother calling this place

I am disappointed in this company. I wanted to write a hole story on my experience dealing with them but i won’t. But they have lost me as a customer

They charged me a diagnostic fee for a technician to look at our a/​c unit for 5 minutes and tell me they had to come back the next day. When I called for an appointment, the rude woman at the office stated the next available one wasn’t until the following week. She would not accommodate me at all even though I paid $ 150 for no diagnosis. I would NEVER deal with them again.

Anthony was very professional. He explained everything he was doing and is an asset to the company.

Ronald was excellent and courteous. He explained the process step by step for our AC service. Ronald arrived early and exceeded my expectations. Thanks.

I would give them negative stars if I could. They are the absolute worst. Tremendous waste of time and money. I paid them $ 6500 to replace my furnace and they did not do anything right — they did not get a permit, wire the unit properly and they left the house with a deadly gas leak. I only learned of any of this when the inspector turned up out if the blue and gave me a whopping fine. I now have to spend another $ 6500 to fix their crappy work.
Kerry is a liar and belittles his customers. It has been a nightmare from start to incomplete finish.

Customer service could be better. Not asking for world class customer service, basic customer service would be fine.

Anthony saved the day. He is patient, careful and smart, and now we have both heat and hot water. Our system is just seven years old but the original contractor did a lousy job; parts of it were never installed properly nor did we have six months without a service call, and that goes for both the A/​C and the heat. Anthony spent almost an entire day at my home repairing a boiler that serves the hot water system, heated floors and forced air heat. He made sure that the entire system was working and was responsive to all questions. He’s the guy you want on your job, whether your home or business. Many thanks, Anthony!

T.F. O’Brien are complete professionals, Jimmy has been my technician on a couple of occasions, and he’s knowledgable and always takes time to explain the issue so I know exactly what’s going on. Hire these guys.

You could do much worse (and I’m not sure you could do any better) than Anthony and T.F. O’Brien.
I had problems with my HVAC unit. Symptoms were heat would turn off after a few minutes (during the winter) and water condensation or water buildup during summer when running the AC. He was able to diagnose that the problems were related and that the water buildup was causing corrosion of the heating electronics.
A less scrupulous technician, looking for a steady flow of return work, might have just fixed one of the symptoms, but Anthony diagnosed and fixed the source of the problems. A technician from a previous company had visited months earlier and had suggested doing some crazy sheet-​metal cutting duct work. Anthony had the parts and was done within hours.
Anthony was my technician and I can’t recommend him enough. Professional, knowledgeable and personable. He is a true asset to the company.
Although the service was costly, I believe I got a very good value.

Anthony was the technician that helped us with servicing our three HVAC systems, as well as replacing the blow capacitors on all three of the HVACs. Anthony was very professional and he was able to explain to me how HVAC system worked, what needed to be repaired and why.
Anthony also made sure that the HVACs ran quietly by making sure that all the screws were tight and suggested what we can do to make them run even quieter.
Anthony made sure that the job areas were extra clean by putting things on towels that we provided, and was very careful in our newly renovated bedrooms with new paint and new flooring.
We look forward to having Anthony doing our yearly maintenance on our HVACs. The pricing seems reasonable, and it shows that are not trying to gouge you on prices or extra services that you don’t need.
We are very happy with T.F. O’Brien & Co so far. We have signed up for their service/​maintenance contract. We’ll enthusiastically recommend them to our neighbors.

The technician Anthony was very knowledgeable about what needed to be fixed and did it in a timely matter. He explained everything in layman’s terms in order to make sure I understood what the problem was. I highly recommend this company. My boiler still works great and if it stops working, I know T.F. O’Brien will stand by their work. They don’t get 5 star ratings for nothing…

My boiler stopped working, Anthony went above and beyond to make sure it worked well. Service was fast, efficient and Anthony is an extremely pleasant young man. T.F. O’Brien makes quick appointments and is very efficient in scheduling. Anthony was on time and stayed until he got the job done.

Heating and Cooling services rendered were great!

Our A/​C unit in our MediSpa went down so I decided to try someone local. The last company I had shoved the wrong size filter in and told me that I would need a new compressor costing about $ 1500.
Lenin showed up on time, within a day after I called, removed the old filter and replaced it with the proper one. He went up to the roof to check out the compressor and took a photo of the burned out part and replaced it the next day for a cost of $ 230 (service call and tax incl.).
Lenin was prompt, courteous and honest. I would definitely recommend him and T.F. O Brien s to anyone.
