The New York Center For Orthognathic and Maxillofacial Surgery

I was referred to Dr. Neugarten by my orthodontist Dr. Lemchen. I was 33 when I first visited NYCOMS, I arrived having some previous dental and orthodontic work done in Seattle that I was VERY unhappy with. I had been wearing braces for three years, I was very uncomfortable and my bite was completely off. I had a complicated case. Dr. Neugarten recommended orthognathic surgery to correct my malocclusion.
I was extremely hesitant to undergo this surgery, so hesitant, I pushed against doing the surgery for an entire year. One year later, I gathered the courage and I’m now six months post-​op from double orthognathic surgery. I couldn’t be happier, probably the best decision I’ve made in my life. My surgery went flawlessly and my bite meets up perfectly now. If you need to have this surgery you couldn’t be in better hands. Dr. Neugarten and his assistant Lisa were amazing, answering my questions at any time of day throughout my recovery. Very helpful and very kind.
If you need to have this surgery, I highly recommend you make an appointment at NYCOMS. I have been through the gamut of meeting with and sometimes working with bad dentists, orthodontists and surgeons. Save yourself time and agony by making an appointment with Dr. Neugarten at NYCOMS. I couldn’t be happier!
This review is coming from someone who never imagined doing this surgery and has a huge fear of even the most minor dental procedures. If I can do it, you can do it!

I’ve had problems with my jaws and teeth for years, and was reluctant to get anything fixed because of the time and pain commitment involved.
I finally bit the bullet and met with Dr. Schwartz in April of last year to get my issues straightened out. He was professional, clear and most of all kind. He laid out an extensive treatment plan that included other dental professionals, which I started the next month.
By May, I was finally ready for the surgery I had waited my whole life for. Dr. Schwartz was amazing before and after my surgery. He handled my endless phone calls after surgery with care and professionalism.
I am almost done with my treatment plan, but I’m loving the results that I have now. Dr. Schwartz is by far the best surgeon and physician I’ve ever been to.

Dr. Schwartz, performed my double jaw surgery, he has been great through out the whole process, and did a great job. My jaw and mouth are healing beautifully. I would recommend Dr. Schwartz to anyone!!!

I recently had my wisdom teeth surgically removed through this center. It is located in a nice office building in Lake Success. I had the procedure done by Dr. Michael Schwartz, DDS. He was very courteous and friendly during the consultation and laid out the steps involved in the procedure in a way any first time patient with no knowledge of the surgery could understand.
The day of the surgery, Dr. Schwartz was reassuring, gladly answered questions and seemed relaxed and in no rush (which he wasnt). This was clearly a routine surgery and one he does very often. I was completely finished in about 45 minutes time. His cost was slightly higher than another institution I had known of, however, after having done the procedure at COMS, I am pleased to know I made the right decision.
There is parking on premises and comfortable chairs in the waiting room. Dr. Schwartz has a great taste in music too!
