J&B Remodeling and Design

I called to ask for an estimate on removing an old metal shower in a basement bathroom and replacing it with something newer and more functional. Jason Lapay, the owner of J&B Remodeling, came out to look at the space. We discussed what I wanted, and he offered some helpful suggestions on ways we could do the project. While we were talking I decided to also ask for an estimate on adding a wall in the basement to better separate the finished living space from the unfinished furnace room. He told me he would get back to me with a price. I did not hear from him for a few days, so I sent a follow-​up e-​mail, and he promptly responded with an estimate and an apology for not getting back to me sooner. The price he gave me seemed very fair for the scope of the work involved. A few days later I signed the contract for the work to be done. Jason worked around my schedule, starting the work a few weeks after that. In the meantime, as per our agreement, I purchased the tile that I wanted and the shower fixtures. We communicated through e-​mail several times during that interim period and he was always very responsive. Soon after my schedule opened up, Jason scheduled a day to start work. He and/​or his crew were at the house every morning around 8:30 am and worked until 4:30 or 5pm — except for one day when they were only at the house for a few hours — and they told us in advance that they would be arriving later that day. The project was completed in 5 days. The end product is very nice. The shower looks great and should be much more functional than our old shower. Jason trimmed out our new door and wall — we will do the painting, as we had agreed.
The work J&B did included the following:
–Removed an old metal shower from a basement bathroom.
–Reframed the space for the shower and installed cement backer board.
–Moved the plumbing and installed new shower head & control.
–Installed new light in shower area.
–Built shower pan and installed ceramic tile.
–Installed storage shelves adjacent to shower.
–Built new wall to separate finished part of basement from unfinished funace /​laundry area.
–Installed drywall on new wall and installed new door in wall.
We were very pleased with the overall project and the finished work looks great.
