The quality of the food here is outstanding. So fresh. So tasty. Perfectly spiced. The fried steamed bao was one of the best things I’ve ever tasted. The curried chicken bao was so savory, delicious and beautifully baked. I couldn’t get enough of the dan dan noodles. The noodles are very fresh and made with great care, and the sauce is heaven. If you find yourself looking for a great casual meal in New Orleans, please do yourself a favor and stop here at least once.

The food here is simply amazing! The owner is a really nice guy who my fiancé and I have gotten to know on our frequent trips to New Orleans(I’m a former resident in exile right now). Every time we’re in town we end up sharing a meal at this place, usually with a couple of friends who adore it as well. The tea eggs were definitely a great find, and everyone needs to try them at least once. Nowadays I tend to stick with noodle dishes, but I’ll end up eating vegan bao on just about every trip. My fiancé and I aren’t vegan but are mostly vegan, while our friends who dine here with us run the gamut from vegetarian to nearly full-on carnivore. Nobody has ever left here with me unhappy about their food. Although tamer foodies will do well to steer clear of some of the more acquired foods, like the mo pa tofu.

OMG you guys. Everything was fresh perfect delicious. Some of us had the chicken curry bao and fried steamed bao and vegan bao — all amazing. We also had Dan Dan noodles and vegan noodles and strange flavor peanuts and scallion pancakes. Sooooo good. The noodles are so fresh and the sauces so well flavored and spiced. Portions perfect, too. Just a perfect find we happened upon. Highly recommended.

The vegan bao are amazing and I usually get the dan dan noodles, which they’ll make vegetarian upon request, when I want something rich and spicy or the vegan noodle dish when I want something a little lighter with more veggies. The portions are great, not too big, not too small. The owner-chef is super nice! I overheard a bunch of Chinese tourists tell him his cooking tasted just like their grandmothers! I eat here multiple times a week when I’m in town; it’s one of my favorite restaurants in New Orleans and I lived there for years. This isn’t the place I would pick if I was in a super big hurry– the food is made to order and well worth the wait, so bring some good company, relax, and eat delicious food.

The Tea salad was yummy, and a generous portion, too. For $ 5, that’s a really good deal. Noodles are made in house. If you’re vegetarian or vegan, and you are with people who are not, this is great option. Love their location, Marigny rectangle, so close to home. Service was excellent.

Fantastic! We love this little love that is conveniently up the street. Such a great twist on traditional dishes.

This is my favorite Chinese restaurant in US. i am a Chinese from Sichuan province and my friends and I all feel the taste is very authentic. Strongly recommend the lamb and Biangbiang noodle, beef soup.

Good eats. Dessert is worth the extra $ 3. The go to is their lamb which has a thick noodle and gravy. I also had a cabbage salad. Good service. Edgy music. I was the only one there and really enjoyed it!

Really fresh, creative, unique foods! The service is very informed and friendly. Some of the flavors I have never tried anything like it before. The noodles are made daily from scratch and lots of love and heart goes into this tiny little unassuming place. It’s also BYOB!

Love this place! My last visit, we had the scallion pancakes, tea eggs and greens, and lamb noodles– it was a fantastic meal and you could tell that a lot of work went into each dish. Left full and happy and can’t wait to return. Their noodles are made in house and I can’t recall ever having better– I’d recommend any of the noodle dishes, but if they have the whole fish on the menu, definitely try it!

I had the vegan bao here for the first time 9 days ago, and have since had it 3 more times. I’d probably be eating it today if they weren’t closed. The meaty bao is also bangin’ here, as are the few other dishes we’ve tried.

I went with 3 friends and we had the yummy scallion pancakes and the fried steamed bao to begin with. Both were delicious and made us realize we were more hungry than we originally thought! Originally we ordered the Dan Dan Noodle with pork and the Cumin Braised Lamb with hand pulled Biang Biang Noodle. Portions were smallish but would be sufficient if just one person was eating. So we then decided to order the Tea Smoked Duck Breast and oh were we glad we did! The duck breast was cooked to perfection and some of the most delicious duck I have ever had! The bill came to about $ 14 each for the two appetizers and 3 entrees which was very reasonable. Tips: They do not have a liquor license but it is byob. Service and food were a little slow so I wouldn’t go here if you were in a hurry. However, if you don’t want to feel rushed and are looking for a place where you can chill and chat, this is definitely the place!

This was my first try & I was very happy. I hadn’t even planned on eating there — I went to see a friend’s art. I had the spicy chicken soup and the fried steamed Bao. Both were great. The prices are reasonable and the fact that everything is made fresh in plain view is very cool. I will definitely be back to try more!

If the overall rating for this place is still only so-so, don’t let that stop you from trying it. It seems like they’ve come back strong from an unimpressive opening; certainly everything we tried tonight was excellent. We had: perfectly-done scallion pancakes, freshly-made fried steamed bao, a very tasty cumin-braised lamb with hand-pulled noodles and a deliciously spicy ma po tofu with pork(if you’ve ever had Korean tofu stew, this was very much like that; creamy tofu with bits of pork in a rich, scallion-laced broth). They don’t seem to advertise that they’re BYOB, so that was a nice surprise(we’re staying less than a block away, so it was easy to run back for a bottle of wine); although they do offer several types of hot tea which would have gone really well with the meal, too. I was much too full to try the desserts, which was a shame because they sounded both unusual and really, really good. Prices are more than reasonable($ 48 for those 4 dishes, including 20% tip). Sadly, there were only 3 other people dining when we were there(8:30-ish on a Wednesday night), so I feel extra obligated to recommend this place highly. You should go!

I first came here a week or two after they opened and I was disappointed by the food and prices. But wow, have they stepped up their game– the food is now excellent and the prices are extraordinarily reasonable. Two sizable vegan bao for $ 5, several specials under $ 10, etc. Look at their website, because the reviews on here no longer reflect their current menu. I was completely wrong and wish I’d given them a second chance a long time ago. There weren’t any other customers when I came in around 7:15 on a Wednesday, so I hope their lunch/weekend crowds are busier. I’d hate to see this place close. I think a lot of the more negative reviews are from when they were new and working out the kinks. It’s too bad seeing them saddled with those reviews now that the restaurant has improved so much.

I absolutely loved it! The tea eggs are my new favorite food… Vegan noodles also great, but the tea eggs are so epic. :) and i think the servings are perfect size. The bowls are small so it looks little at first but after one bowl i was perfectly full. The employees were really chill and friendly too which i really appreciated.

This place is great, two words, handmade noodles! A simple concept done right. Portions look small but are filling. Minimalist décor add to an elegant approach.

We were quite enthusiastic about B&N but left feeling quite disappointed. As other reviews describe: the food was excessively salty, bowls awkwardly undersized and twelve-dollar dishes offered only a miniscule portion of food. Service was pleasant and staff seemed well-informed. Atmosphere was practically non-existent but the bare space is tolerable. After our meal, we walked to a nearby restaurant for a proper lunch. We won’t be back.

I was so excited to find out there would be new asian cuisine near my work but this place was a huge disappointment. I came with a group and tried most of the things on their menu and nothing was very good. My beef & noodle dish was way too salty and I’m from the midwest, so that is saying a lot. I mean, I have TWO salt licks in my kitchen. When I walk into a room, people get thirsty. To top is off, everything is about twice as expensive as it should be. I typically only reserve the one-star for if you get food poisoning(which, thankfully, I did not), but I just honestly can’t find a good reason to go back. If you collapsed on their stoop and needed food to live, you would be better off eating some nearby grass clippings, at least that would be properly seasoned and wouldn’t set you back $ 18. On the bright side, the service was friendly.
