I did not get any readings done, but I stopped in for loose leaf teas. I bought 4 different ginger teas, a green tea and an Earl Grey tea. They had a wide selection and Brandy was very friendly.

Zero stars!! Don’t waste your money on this phoney place. My reader was inaccurate in all aspects. She would state things she saw that were completely wrong. And she doesn’t even know the zodiac signs, I had to correct her! What a scam!

We came in to look around and sampled the ginger peach black tea. The ladies working there were friendly.

Truly the worst and most useless reading I have ever had. My mother told me to come there and I got the worst person. I heard the person in the next area getting a much better experience. If I could give negative stars I would!

Stopped in for a reading 2 weeks ago. Not only was the reading extremely poor, they ripped me off. I paid $ 65 for a ½ hr reading and was out the door in less than 15 minutes, and have the cd recording to prove it. Also stated that my current boyfriend was the one, and he out of no where broke up with me the very next day. I’m still waiting for all the money supposed to come into… I think I’ll be waiting for a long time. Terrible. Don’t waste your time or money.

I waited for a year to write this review. When I went for Mardi Gras 2014 my sister and I were read by an old lady and our friend by a young portly woman. The portly woman was unprofessional and very nonchalant, I listened to the cd and it didn’t even sound like she was trying at all. The old lady I had really sold it but sadly nothing she said came true. The shop is cute with little nic knacks so I would return but think twice about getting a reading.

I was excited about visiting New Orleans for just a few short days on a road trip. I used Unilocal to bookmark a couple of spots I for sure had to check out. I’m a huge tea person, so I love to check out tea houses in all of the cities I visit. While this one didn’t have the best rating, I decided if I ran into it I would stop in. I happened to run into it on my second day.
I walked in the door and was not greeted at all by a middle aged woman who was on the phone. We walked directly to the back where all of the teas are behind a counter. They have a very large selection. We stood there for quiet some time. Enough time that I heard her speaking to someone in Brooklyn about their upcoming (or over the phone) palm reading. She completely ignored us standing in there. After she ran the credit card over the phone, she continued to have small talk. It was truly kind of shocking to be so ignored, but we picked up the tea menu to waste some time while she finished up.
She hung up the phone and literally STILL did not address us I had to walk up and say «hi, can we order a tea?» Her response was «well we don’t actually make tea here.» She then pointed to the 3 thermoses that were on the counter and said that they only brew them and that those were our choices. I believe there was a green, some peace, and a black. We made our own tea, and went to pay. They were $ 3 each. There was a girl there waiting for her palm to be read.
This place should rename itself as a palm reading center. I don’t even know why they call it a tearoom. They don’t even brew the teas they have to choose from. Super bad customer service, and not a place to put on your NE list.

The staff was nice but my friend and I asked for a tea reading and they gave us tarot and palm reading instead. I also found the reading itself to be a little plain for how expensive it was. It was still fun in a novelty way but I would try other places before returning here.

My visit was recommend by Dallas owned Valentina Burton. My friend and I came in on Labor Day 2014. I meet with Brandee, who was funny, sweet and nurturing. I received a tea cup and tarot card reading that was interesting. When she performed the TCR, she confirmed information three other readers had revealed to me earlier in the year. She was a little more specific with her information and it’s happenings. They’re in my opinion a little pricey! I paid $ 65 for a 30 minute reading. Nevertheless, I enjoyed my conversation with Brandee.

I had an appointment with Brandee for a tea ground reading and tarot card reading. Brandee was friendly. I preferred the tarot card reading to the tea ground reading because it was longer and more informative. So far, Brandee’s reading has proved accurate. You also get a recording of your reading so you can refer to it later.
The was also a lot of stuff in the retail store, including loose tea.
I would go back again the next time I’m in NOLA.

So disappointing. I didn’t have a lot of expectations, but my friend and I went, the lady at the front desk seemed very annoyed to have to deal with us in the first place, but I tried to be positive anyway. The «reading» from Otis was extremely, almost laughably general and said nothing bad at all, which is suspect. Basically he flipped over cards and said some general words like «harmony, good days ahead, luck» etc. He also asked a lot of questions, instead of providing insight. He asked if I had a man in my life, and just went on a tangent after I answered.
When my friend and I replayed our CDs, we found he had said almost the EXACT same thing to both of us. What a ripoff. Go somewhere where they at least pretend to care.

10 minutes for $ 35, 30 minutes for $ 65
It’s a good thing I waited for a bit before writing my review. What I liked:

Did not like… the staff weren’t really attentive. Waited to use the restroom after hauling around shopping bags around the city for hours, a very rude woman came out after being in there for 20 min. She looked at me and said «you should have knocked.» What the hell?! Seriously? If you’re just hanging out in the bathroom you have problems. Then I saw her go behind the counter… okay, so an employee that hangs out in the bathroom and then is rude to customers who come in for the service they provide. Right.
After shaking off the rude encounter I realized that my turn had already been called and I went in to see my psychic. He was nice but in a salesperson way :(told my fortune and all the things were very positive, it felt like stuff people want to hear: you’ll have money, blessed with family, more kids to come, always loved, you’re gonna do well in your career, etc. nothing specific and he was asking me questions about my occupation, where I’m from, if I’m married, if I have kids. Ten minutes fly by quickly and when I left I felt like I was swindled. Told my husband about my experience and he said maybe the guy googled me, was he wearing an earpiece? –_​_​_​_​-​” is gullible written on my forehead? I noticed the earpiece but thought that was for other uses (maybe he likes to listen to music on one side?)
This definitely was an experience but it was an experience I could do without. My wallet was thinner and I was left with a more dismal view of the world of psychic encounters.

Another place I stumbled upon when I was in town for Mardi Gras and was wandering around the French Quarter taking in the brief good weather we had. Saw the sign that this was the oldest tearoom in NOLA and figured I’d check it out to see what was inside.
Didn’t purchase anything from the store, but noticed they had a nice variety of metaphysical stones in not too shabby prices. Their tea selection wasn’t too bad either. I saw that they did tarot card readings, along with tea leaf readings, and decided what the hell let’s have a 10 min reading. Cost me $ 35 and figured it would be something fun to try.
The older lady I had asked my name, my day of birth and proceeded to spin a tale about my career and other things that seemed to be spot on. Whether it’s something similar that she says to other people, I’ll never know. But it was very entertaining and I like that after it was over she gave me a CD that had my reading on it.
Anyone wishing to experience a reading, I’d recommend checking this shop out, as I found the experience to be fun!

First, I want to state up front that this review is primarily for a reading from the reader named Lettie L. who was one of the readers on duty in little readling rooms in the back of the shop; I did not purchase any goods at the store. So this review is only for a combined full Tarot reading, palm reading, and tea leaf reading from Lottie, who is one of the readers at the shop.
I should also mention as a prefatory note that, as part of a pet research project and pet interest of mine, I have, over the past few years, had a number of various types of psychic readings (but most frequently Tarot card readings, followed by palm readings) from readers (aka fortune tellers) in eight cities and regions across the USA, and I have also had some telephone and email tarot readings, procured via the Internet, in that time as well. And, whenever I get these readings, I always insist upon getting a totally «cold» reading, and I always check with the reader up front to be sure that they are willing to work within these constraints. A cold reading is one where the client (that would be myself) does not tell the psychic reader/​fortune teller anything about themseves prior to the reading (or during the reading) other than their first name (and also date and place of birth, if the reader requests it), and also perhaps the approximate city/​region where they currently live. In other words, in a cold reading is one where the client tells the reader almost nothing about themselves up front, so as not to provide hints, clues or cues that might allow the reader’s mind to start to make conjectures in order to embellish the reading.
When I visited this shop in 2013, I was informed that the price for a Tarot card reading was about $ 30 (plus a tip for the reader), but I decided that I wanted a full Tarot card reading, plus a palm reading, plus a tea leaf reading, and I was quoted a total price of about $ 70 or $ 80 for all three, which sounded reasonable to me. I stressed, when asking about the readings, that if I were to pay for all three readings, I wanted a totally «cold» reading (see my notes on cold readings above).
My reader turned out to be an older woman named Lettie L.; she later told me, during a conversation after the reading had ended, that she was a Louisiana native, and she was well over 80 years old.
She led me back to her small reading room (there were at least eight small rooms for private readings off the little corridor at the rear of the shop), and proceeded to put a blank CD into a rather expensive-​looking professional-​grade CD audio recorder (each reading room has one), explaining as she did so that the session would be recorded, and that I would be given the CD recording after the reading had ended.
She started by asking me for my first name and date of birth, both of which I readily provided, and she also wanted to know approximately where I currently lived, which I also answered. She then proceeded to give me a tea leaf reading, which was rather vague at times and often so over-​generalized that certain items would have fit one-​third of the male population of the US, but she definitely hit the mark on two or three specific items that she could not possibly have guessed, and could only have known if she had been a close friend for years, or if she had visited my house.
My reader, who was very chatty and very pleasant and friendly, followed the tea leaf reading with a brief palm reading (we had agreed in advance, when setting the price, that this part would be brief), followed by a rather lengthy and detailed full Tarot card reading. My observation of both of these latter readings was that they were sometimes overly vague, and, at times, certain things that she shared were so over-​generalized that certain items would have fit one-​quarter of the male population of the US, but she definitely hit the mark on at least six very specific, and very concrete and detailed significant/​notable facts about myself and my life that she could not possibly have guessed in a million years, nor could she have surmised any of these details/​items from the scant information that I had shared with her at the beginning of the reading.
Overall, my grading of the quality of the reading was about a 3 out of 5 (where a score of 5 would be an excellent reading; these are very rare.) However, the woman who gave the reading was very friendly and fun to speak with.

I’m a believer of psychics and palm readers. My problem is that I latch on to their words like a lifeline and end up second guessing everything in my life.
I spent a birthday getting a reading here with my best friends. They don’t really believe in this stuff but luckily for me, they like to indulge me. My first inkling that the reading may be off was when the girl who scheduled my reading said I was in for a treat because my reader likes ORIENTALS. I had to bite my tongue on that one.
My reading actually ran over ten minutes. What can I say, I like to talk. We even discussed how much my reader hates LA. Totally relevant to my reading, right? Anyways. I liked talking to the guy but here’s the thing… I went against so many things he said. I am not going to get into specifics since it’s personal, but I certainly didn’t end up in any of the places he saw me in.
It’s been a year and I still think of my reading. For those of you who want to go, take what they say with a grain of salt. Don’t let it consume you. It took a long time to convince myself that it was okay to go against his advice. And I have no regrets.

I hate the smell of incense. But I was curious about a tea reading. I’m a skeptic, but I was on vacation, and skeptics still like to have fun.
A 10 minute reading is $ 30. That’s $ 3 a minute if you don’t want to do the math. I had to pass, but to be honest I probably would have paid $ 20.
They also sell packaged teas, but I didn’t spend much time browsing because of the awful patchouli stench.

I wasn’t able to get a reading at Island of Salvation Botanica, so I looked up another highly rated psychic in the New Orleans area and found Bottom of the Cup Tearoom. Everyone said Otis was the best, so I made appointments for me and a friend.
We arrived at our appointed time, and I was up first. $ 60 plus tax for a 30-​minute reading, which comes with a CD. First of all, I liked Otis instantly. Charming, animated, southern gentleman. He started with my palms, then went to the tarot cards. There was a lot of repetition in what he said, and about 15 minutes in, I began to feel like I should’ve gone for the 10 minute reading at $ 30. (My friend ended up getting a 10-​minute reading, because she said she could hear him repeating himself with me.) He nailed my character and personality, but I thought that it was odd that he didn’t give me ANYthing negative. I almost felt like he was stroking my ego. I have my life together and am in a good place, but surely he could’ve given me some kind of bone to chew on?
There were two specific «predictions» that he gave me… one for the July-​August 2013 time period and one for two years down the line. If these materialize, then I will turn this 3-​star rating to a 5.

This review is for the store itself, not the readings/​readers.
For a tea room, a place that celebrates tea and tea readings — I found the absence of teapots and teacups quite odd. The fact that they offer a commercial «special cup and book set» ‘designed’ for reading tea leaves at SEVENTY FIVE DOLLARS is laughable. Seventy five dollars! Someone is taking advantage of the tourist market, lol.
Basically, every item in the store is priced extremely sky high — even for the location.
I would expect a vast section of vintage tea cups, tea, and tea accessories. You know, stuff you might find in a Tea Room.

My friend wanted to get her fortune told in New Orleans because… how cool of a story is that to tell people?! So she found this place through Unilocal and we went. This is the first time I have had a psychic reading where we were given a CD recording of the reading to take home. I always assumed this was because the psychics didn’t want to take responsibility for what they had said if something they said turns out to be inaccurate later on!
To offer to record the reading, I think, shows the genuine and straightforward nature of this particular establishment. Having a CD is a wonderful momento, and saves you from having to try to remember and write down everything your psychic told you after the reading is over.
My friend and I both did the 10 minute reading (which felt much longer, and for her, actually lasted closer to 20 minutes). We were very satisfied with what we received… Me a little bit more so than her perhaps. My psychic was Dawn and she was very nice and very good. Good things have happened to me after my trip to New Orleans, just as was foretold, and I couldn’t be happier to recommend the Bottom of Cup Tearoom.
