For some reason I alway think of the movie, «Cocktail» in reference to Lucy’s. Great place to mix n’ mingle, like you would on a beach…

This is not a fancy place but that’s ok. It’s a fun and friendly bar with great food. Unlike the places up on Bourbon Street the prices here are good and the clientele well behaved. It had the feel of a neighborhood place and not a tourist trap.

It’s a surf bar, through and through. From the color schemes, to the shark and surfboard paraphernalia everywhere, to the summery drinks, to the domestic buckets, to the bartenders who would fit in at a more tropical locale. We stopped by as we had some time to kill before lunch. Bartender was awesome and fun to talk to. I had their frozen lemonade, which wasn’t that great. Tasted very artificial. Or maybe not artificial enough. They also put little plastic mermaids on the rim of your drink, which are cute and 100% choking hazards. There are also TVs and tons of photos on the wall if you get bored. Fun times all around.

Hell yes! If you’re thinking about it, the answer is yes! I got the nachos and didn’t even make it through half. Amazing food, terrific server. We were there on a Sunday evening and it wasn’t busy at all. But on Friday and Saturday it’s packed.

Boy I wanted to like this place. On paper it sounded like a bitchen(that’s surfer talk if you didn’t already know) place to grab a late dinner. They seemed super busy so we ordered two appetizers and dinner. We ordered the queso topped with taco meat and the fried avocado. For dinner, I ordered the smoked fish tacos and hubby ordered tamales. He asked for an extra tamale and our very sweet, very attentive waitress told him she wouldn’t even know how to bill it but she’d see. He ordered tea and I ordered a bottle of corona. The drinks were there in record time. My beer was cold just the way we drank it on Ocean Beach(that’s San Diego if you didn’t know). I look up and here comes a different waitress with our dinner! But wait? Didn’t we order apps? Cancel the queso but bring on the avocado. He got his 3 tamales. Some kind of combination of chicken and pork. He’s not sure if he got 2 chicken or 2 pork. There was really no distinguishing taste to tell them apart. My tacos were just blah. No real taste. They weren’t bland but I couldn’t taste any spice I recognized. Our meal came with black beans and rice. Now I know why I couldn’t distinguish any spice in the tacos… I think someone dumped it all on the black beans. They were so salty my mouth dried up after the first bite. But oh wait! Here comes the avocado which was described as rolled in panko and fried with baby shrimp in a tomatoey gazpacho type sauce. When it came I thought it was some prawns fried and the avocado was a garnish. No, the«prawns» were avocado and a can of starkist baby shrimp in a can poured over. It was cold. there was absolutely no taste to it all. It was one of the worst things I’ve ever tried to eat. Disclaimer: We did not complain. Our waitress was so cute and sweet we just didn’t have the heart to. So I don’t know what they would have done if I had complained. I think the cook was new because I did hear a waitress scolding him about our appetizers not coming out before the dinner. He just buried his face in his hands. I’m hoping that a dumpster diver didn’t pick the garbage can that I threw all the extra food in that we didn’t eat. I’m sure they deserved a better meal. I gave them two stars for cold beer and a great waitstaff.

Another stop that was a requirement for me. I love the novelty of Lucy’s «Shark Attack.» I’ve had the drink on a previous trip to NOLA, and I remember liking it better but for me, the experience of watching the bartender fill a plastic shark’s mouth with grenadine and plunging it into my drink, was still worth the walk.

We were staying at the hotel across the street and this was a convenient place and we had observed people sitting outside and having a good time the night before. We went for an early-ish dinner and sat at the bar. While it is on the tail end of the crawfish season, they had them and it was something I had been wanting to try. My wife ordered Pao Shrimp tacos. I got a pound of crawfish and when they were served, the server/bartender demonstrated how to rip off their heads and get the meat out. And, NO, I did not suck the heads. They were great and so were the potatoes and sausage that came also. My wife loved her tacos and compared them favorably to some we get back home called Bang Bang Shrimp at a place called BoneFish. The conversation with the server was great and people started coming in in groups. Seems like a very popular place. The deduction of a star is the beer selection. Only one local and that was Abita Amber and the rest was so-so kinds of options. Nice atmosphere, nice conversation, good service and good food.

I went here, I want to say, four times. A couple of times just for beers and once for lunch and once for an evening meal. Good staff, good food, reasonable prices on the beer, a good atmosphere and a less touristed part of the world. I had the Cabo Shrimp and Grits and it was one of the first times I’ve really liked grits which always just seemed to be soggy grains; an excellent meal. The Pao Pao Shrimp Poboy was nice. There’s a couple of areas to it, a surfer bar out the back. That kind of thing. If you are looking for something in the area after a visit to the WW2 museum or the oddly unpolitical civil war museum or if you are willing to walk from the convention centre then this would be a great choice.

We came with a group of 27(students and adults) for an educational trip to New Orleans and the staff at Lucy’s bent over backwards to make us feel at home and to take care of us! (The Pao Pao shrimp was phenomenal!!) They made sure we were taken care of the NEXT day too! Their breakfast was delicious and the pancakes were perfection! We are SO thankful for all they did to help make our trip one to remember!

This is a great little hangout. We were there for a conference, and the place was packed inside and out but the staff handled it like pros. The chicken is amazing and a must try.

Lucy’s is open on the weekend for breakfast, and we just had our best breakfast here with our server Arielle. I had the breakfast burrito and my wife had the egg platter. Even the coffee was better than the other breakfast restaurants or our hotel. We previously ate at Mothers(not very good with cold eggs) and Legacy, which was good, but Lucy’s was the best. Casual, pleasant dining atmosphere. Worth checking out for a weekend breakfast!

The shark drink is both a must try and a hangover inducing experience. The second floor is a great space for informal meetups. My favorite part is taco tuesday — the tacos are generous and delicious!

Service was ok– great nachos! Not a great selection of beers, but found a halfway decent ipa. I’d go back, but would go out of the way.

I wasn’t impressed with this place. My friend and I did as the podium instructed and waited to be seated. We got passed up by several people until we grabbed the attention of one girl, megan, who happend to be our waitress. She was nice enough. The menu is decent. Drinks were dropped in a timely fashion. We both ordered something fairly easy. 2 crawfish quesdillas. It took 30 mins for 2 quesdillas to be brought to us. I was about to leave. I was not that busy. Our waitress wasn’t that attentive. I won’t be back. I can get decent food anywhere in new orleans.

We wandered in for a drink at the bar but were seated in the restaurant which was nothing memorable until Staci recommended the spectacular Key Lime-tini. My amigas said their drinks were delish, too. Lucy’s has made the list of go-tos for our next trip to NOLA.

Having been a regular here(At least once a week) I wanted to be able to give this place 5 stars! Lets start off with all the good. If you want to experience a little taste of Southern California drop in and check this place out. Not to mention if you have a friendly pup, your furry friend can sit right next to you eating dishes off of the dog menu… Yes, you heard that right. A city that is far from dog friendly, having a restaurant like this is gold! Guacamole is delicious, chips are fresh, and burritos are worth trying. But beware, entrees are not consistent, know what you are ordering because the menu is not clear, and be prepared to wait a very long time.

This was supposed to be taco Tuesday with the fellas but since they all have kids and wife’s I’m enjoying my own damn company and I’m loving my company. This is one of the coolest spots in the city and the fish tacos are f______n magnificent! I’m sorry but just how good the the fish tacos are. Who’s idea was it to put smoked mahi mahi in a taco??? Who ever you are good sir you are the MVP! And they are playing Outkast and 2Pac… The place is Stuart Scott cool.

Honestly there was nothing impressive about this place. It is your typical bar that serves typical bar food. In addition, the service was that of a typical bar which is less than average service. The food was just okay. I’ve had better crawfish enchiladas so it doesn’t rank in the top 10 places for crawfish. The positive side is if you are looking for typical bar food with good prices, this is your place.

ALLSPICEINTHEQUESO? Okay, so I’m a creative guy, but c’mon where are the chilis, garlic & cumin? It’s the first queso I’ve had that tastes oddly like pumpkin pie. TOMATO-DILLA: I picked-out a plateful of diced tomatoes that terrazoed my steak quesadilla(see pic). The rest of the entrée was darn tasty but the pico de gallo needs a TexMex 101 class. SALTY, SALTY, SALTY margarita mix. I’ve never put a straw in a daiquiri and it cloyed so wincingly. It’s disappointing because the space is awesome, the servers attentive, pricing competitive, however the food is way off. BETTERNEARBYLATINO: La Casita, Casa Guerrero, Juan’s Flying Burrito, Felipe’s, Oso’s, Purple Cactus, a bag of Fritos with microwaved Wolf Brand…

Eines von den guten Lokalen. Tex-mex mit einer Auswahl von 40 Bieren und nettes Personal. Hier fühlt man sich gleich willkommen und das Personal ist sehr zuvorkommend, man kann auch draußen sitzen.
