Went in early in the morning for a pastry. I asked which pastries were made that morning. The supposedly freshly baked chocolate croissant was disappointing and overpriced. Service was good, the place was clean. They open earlier than many of the nearby places, so might be the best option for early risers.

Awful service with mediocre food. I came in early this morning for a bagel and was barely greeted by a rude blonde cashier who didn’t seem to mind being a total asshole to their customers. Never coming back.

Very attentive, friendly service. Came here on a Saturday afternoon for sandwiches and pastries. Breakfast all day and a wide selection of deli sandwiches, pastries and bread made in-house and coffee. A great respite off Magazine!

Good sandwiches and outstanding apple fritters! Service could be better. Not having hot coffee on a Sunday morning is a fail. Overall it’s a good place to eat for breakfast or lunch.

This is my 3rd time to MapleStreet and really enjoy the sandwiches. This is mainly a lunch sandwich shop. Today I am getting the 2 eggs scramble, sausage on bagel. On the weekend they offers daily special. Occasionally they offer gumbo and other hot soups. I would recommend the Rachel Sandwich, chicken salad on croisant, and the grilled Reuben.

The owner Ziggy is an incredible artist with pastries and he’s done the same with his sandwiches. Everything I’ve eaten here I’ve loved. But I think my absolute favorite is the Ruben sandwich. Wish this place saw more business but being just off magazine street it sees less foot traffic. Go on. Stroll half way down the block and treat yourself!!!

I was excited to stop by Maple Street Patisserie and grab a couple tasty treat. was I sorely disappointed??? Service, price and products were terrible. I wasn’t greeted by the less than cheerful cashier but, that, I can get over that. I requested two pastries and was a bit shocked by my, nearly $ 10 total but I’m willing to pay for quality so, not a deal breaker. Got home and was excited to eat my treat but both are dry and stale. Totally disappointed. no baker nor bakery should sell stale items(at 8:30 a.m., no less). Will never visit again.

One word — Institutional. Wanna eat a terrible sandwich in a hospital cafeteria, go to Maple Street Deli? It’s like I was transported back to my prison themed high school and some pissed off counter person wants to hand me an over priced«homemade» poor excuse for a sandwich. Honestly, I’d rather eat at Subway and grab a $ 5 footlong — at least then I know I’m wasting my money.

Best donuts I’ve ever had! I stopped in for espresso after a visit to The Rum House. The staff was amazing! Espresso was great, and I ended up buying three donuts there because they were just that irresistible! I also had wonderful conversation with Kurt and Manny! Two of the men that work there. It was Kurt’s first day– though you’d never guess it! They were so great! I’d be there everyday, but unfortunately I was just on vacation. I’ll be in Nola again next week though and will absolutely be stopping in!

Overpriced for the quality and quantity you receive. Better off skipping this one and heading to La Boulangerie on Magazine Street where you get more for your money.

I have been here three times and every time my order has been given to me incorrect and sloppily made. Also, the prices are too high for the simple foods being served. Please bring back Artz Bagels!

Great bagel, terrible management. After telling me they were out of what I ordered and it would be able an hour before they could prepare more, the owner then went and sat down at a table with a bunch of friends to chit chat. What??? Also, the girl at the register was very nice, but also very new. Couldn’t his time have been better spent training her and making smoked salmon?

Pretty tasty. Got the grilled cheese on sourdough with tomatoes and cheese grits. Both very yummy. Fiancé got the sausage, egg and cheese on a bagel and it was amazing. Coffee is pretty good and the people that work here are really nice as well. Apparently all the pastries are homemade. They look to die for!!! You should stop in.

Living down the street from Artz bagel, I am happy that we now have a quality bakery in this location. Where Artz lacked in everything, this restaurant revamps and embellishes. While they retained the hanging bagel lights, the renovations make the seating arrangements more approachable for group walk-ins. Moreover, it smells great when you step inside, the owner greets you with a massive smoked pastrami in his hands, and the food comes out at a reasonable pace. The bread speaks for itself. It’s better than panera, but I didn’t see the bread bowl option. Not like that is an actual critique. The pastrami was outrageous. That is one of the best parts. Sweet motorcycles out front. The only problem was the new staff, who didn’t seem to have much prior experience or new training. They missed some basic points of service, but at least I wasn’t treated like a goyem at steins. All in all, I will recommend returning to this place multiple times and trying all their baked selections before making a decision on its quality. They are pretty consistent. Btw, they also make a great espresso and have a nice coffee selection.

The smoked salmon bagel sandwich was great, and their donuts are half price after 1pm. I live in the neighborhood and am going to try to make a point of stopping by more often.

While strolling down Magazine Street with my wife we spotted this deli and thought it would be a nice spot to grab lunch. I ordered the applewood smoked turkey with havarti on sour dough($ 8.99) and a coke($ 2.20), my wife ordered the Rachel($ 9.99) with a bottled water($ 2.00). Here’s where things started to go south. The total for my order came to $ 13.07 with tax, and my wife’s came to $ 13.62. Now I’m no math whiz, but a quick number crunch told me that those totals were on the high side. It was explained to me after I’d already been rung up that the cost of coke products had risen, which accounted for the extra charge – a fact that the cashier was completely unaware of, and that was not noted on the menu board. While this didn’t exactly sit well with me, I decided to stick around. Despite the fact that we were two of only three customers in the entire place, it took the staff over 20 minutes to prepare our two sandwiches, a bit too long considering the place was completely dead. When my sandwich finally emerged, it was over toasted and the bread was completely dried out and flavorless. My wife said that her sandwich was merely«adequate». So to recap: we were charged too much, for extremely slow service, for an end product that was mediocre at best. In a city like New Orleans where there’s no shortage of much better options, even on the same block, I can’t think of a single reason why anyone should give this place their business.

I moved to Irish Channel, farther away from my favorite bakery La Boulangery, but closer to the Maple Street Bakery near Magazine. So I had to try it out: cappuccino, croissant, and oat bran muffin. The cappuccino and muffin are on par with the Boulangery. The croissant was not bad. It is lighter than Manhattan Jack’s but still heavier than the one by the French bakery. All are crispy on the outside. The coffee was served in a styrofoam cup — ouch. I hope they introduce ceramic soon. Also the cutlery is throwaway plastic. It would fit the quality of the food and the style of the store to upgrade the throwaways to more durable ware. Better for the environment too. The prices were higher than La Boulangery’s. Still some fine tuning needed?

So great to have Ziggy Cichowski open another location in the Irish Channel. In the former location of the now defunct Artz Bagels, Ziggy has remodeled the place to make the wall dividing the two small rooms more open. Along with his amazing pastries, cakes donuts and breads, Ziggy is offering sandwiches, coffee and bagels. He also purchased Artz former wholesale operation and is continuing to make bagels(as well as the rest of his baked goods) out of that location. I have had pretty much everything Ziggy has to offer but my favorites are his apple turnover and his cinnamon role. The ham and cheese on a croissant is a great choice for a sandwich. His staff is always helpful and attentive and I’m sure they would be willing to alter any sandwich to be made on any of Ziggy’s many awesome breads.

A BAKERYNOT A FAKERY: all breads and pastries are made in-house at Maple Street’s new larger facility on Washington. This is no small feat given the wide variety of both sweet and savory items. The beautiful challa loaf is a house specialty. And, since the demise of quirky Artz, there are now fresh bagels in this part of town(actually they’re located in its former space). BREAKFAST&LUNCHSERVEDALLDAY! Moreover their menu is reasonably priced. My sausage, scrambled eggs & swiss on an «everything» bagel with 2 pieces of cinnamon toast was not only delicious but just $ 5.49. For lunch I had the Rachel on MSP’s marbled rye. It was almost a pound of food and easily splittable. All eight offered sandwiches average just $ 9. FREEREFILLSON3ROASTSOFCOFFEE as well as tea. THINGS I’D SUGGEST: 1. Hot Sauce: none to be found. A few bottles of «Slap Yo Mama» or «Cajun Chef» would liven up the eggs. Even better if they’d make a few themselves. 2. Sides: there are none. To me lunch implies a meal and a meal includes an entreé «go-with». 3. Is it a Load Bearing Wall? Because that stack of bricks that separates the two dining spaces is incredibly disruptive. I say put in a header beam and open that puppy up.
