Three words: hot sauce bar. This was one of my favorite places here as I am a huge fan of spices. They make their own sugary, decadent pralines, sell what seems like an endless amount of hot sauces, marinades, and rubs, and they have the coolest knick-knacks and novelties to entertain us tourists. They’re open late, and the staff is friendly, unless you’re drunk :) The hot sauce samples were so much fun. They have bins of tortilla chips between each section of various sauces. My friend and I kinda took advantage of this place after a long night of drinking on Bourbon Street.(Ha, oops) We overdid it a little bit, and our mouths were buuuurning. We grabbed a couple cubed samples of pralines on the way out, which brought the heat down. This is such a fun concept. Thanks for tolerating us silly drunks.

This gift shop is an experience on its own with bbq and hot sauce tastings you can spend quite some time here. They have a tasting bar and shelfs on each side of it with seasonings and condiments. The rear of the store is the usual souvenir shop with mugs, tshirts, etc. The staff were knowledgeable, engaging, and friendly. Especially when we were feeling a little brave and tasted a hot sauce that was too hot for us. I was able to buy some things for myself and buy most of the souvenirs I needed all in one place. FYI — they have milk if you need it, which we did! For max relief, make sure to have the milk rest on your tongue instead of swallowing right away.

Tasty, foodie type souvenirs are the best kind! I loved being able to try all of the sauces and dips, and ended up buying a remoulade, as well as Slap Ya Mama seasonings and fish fry. I sampled the delicious pralines as well, but didn’t end up buying any. I’d rather stroll along this street visiting the shops than Bourbon Street any day! My only complaint is that they didn’t have a bathroom for customers.

Full hot sauce bar where you can sample as many different hot sauces as you would like. They have chips so you can dip into the hot sauce and its basically just a sample fest for hot sauce lovers like myself. They also sell different types of rubs, seasonings, and candies however I never ventured off into the candy section since that’s not really my thing. For the really spicy hot sauces, you have to sign a waiver basically saying you are trying the hot sauce at your own risk. If you are a true spicy lover, try the Get Bitten Black Mamba Sauce. It’s the hottest sauce they have in store at 6M scoville units. I tried it with their chips and it was really tasty.

Love the hot sauce bar concept but Pepper Palace is better in my opinion. It’s a cool place but I do find a lot of the options to be way over priced. There’s a wide selection though and they also have samples of the muffaletta mix, spicy green beans, jalapenos– so you’re not limited to just hot sauce. Fun place to poke around and possibly fulfill some hot sauce household needs.

Fun fare of tourist novelties: magnets, books, candles, magnets. You can sample a lot of Tabasco products you may never known existed including 1 gallon of Tabasco chipotle pepper sauce. Many local products like Tony Catchers, different Cajun sauces and mixes. Fresh pralines made in front of your eyes. But the funniest site was seeing an employee behind the praline counter eating Ramen noodles

It is what it is: a touristy spot in the Quarter at which to pick up some pralines and hot sauce. The appeal is that you don’t have to go to the edge of the Quarter and fight with all the other tourists for the more popular well-trod praline joints. The downside is that you’re buying pralines in the Quarter. Prepare for some sticker shock. The store is a good size and is nicely laid out. The sugar comes from the pralines. The spice comes from the hot sauce. I’d say there’s more of the latter than the former but there’s a good amount of both. To the other reviewer who was shocked(shocked!) at the sight of a mouse in the store and the non-chalant reaction she got from the store worker… the French Quarter is a billion years old and New Orleans is, approximately, 1000 degrees. There are tons of mice, rats and roaches(palmetto bugs don’t sound as threatening). Everywhere. In older places, newer places, 5-star restaurants, dives… everywhere. It’s part of the charm. It is what it is.

Curb appeal got me to walk in, a mouse got me to quickly walk out. We took a sample of pralines, walked a few more steps in and were checking our the display of hot sauces, when we clearly saw a mouse run by. We both freaked and turned for the exit. On the way, we stopped to inform the cashier of the mouse sighting. «Oh, yea, I know. We have mice,» she said casually. Oh, yea? Well, you know what else you have? Two fewer customers. Gross.
