Planned Parenthood

All the staff members I encountered we very pleasant and welcoming. I went in simply to get new birth control prescription. But after taking my blood pressure they expressed concern because it was abnormally high for someone my age. They had their nurse give me some information on some physicians I could go see and change the pill that I was taking to something that wouldn’t affect my bp. I was very happy they cared so much about my health and didn’t just give me a prescription and send me on my way. Great clinic!

Let me say this… I hate doctors bruh, but I love this place. It may not look like much out or inside but the doctors and staff have this amazing way of just being amaze balls nice and they welcomed any questions comments or concerns I had regarding my health. I even laughe d and joked about things and they were just so openly awesome about anything. I love that I felt like they genuinely cared for my life and not like I was a Medicaid bum. They treated me so nice and that’s hard to find at any health facility especially when you’re on Medicaid.

I’ve been looking for a gyno lately because I’ve been having really intense cramps. I didn’t like the last one I went to which was in the westbank. I Unilocaled this place and decided to go to this one. I called the place at 8am to see when I can get in because I was in so much pain. They made me an appointment at 12. I was like wow !! Can’t believe I got an appt the same day.
I have no insurance however I have a Take Charge card which they gladly took. The staff is as sweet as everyone said. The wait isn’t very long either. The nurse took her time to ask me about my medical history. The doc was very helpful and made sure she has my medical info before prescribing anything to me.
I have an appt next week to get my annual exam. I’m glad I picked this place for all my lady business needs :)
Oh and they have parking on the side so I don’t have to parallel park !

The entire staff was extremely helpful, informative and really friendly. Also they were able to see me the day after I called (unheard of for normal doctors) and the in office wait time was less than 20 minutes. I had a really bad gynecologist experience a few months ago and the staff here totally wiped that from my mind. The staff was also very informative when it came to my healthcare options, types of birth control and what different results meant. For as long as I live in New Orleans I won’t be using any other gyno.

This place is a total lifesaver if you’re a girl without health insurance, which I was for a very long time. They provide affordable exams and other girl-​health related stuff, and I’m not sure what I would’ve done without Planned Parenthood for the years I was freelancing (and for at least one year while I was in college).
It’s just good to know that it’s here as a resource if you’re new to the city and lack health insurance, as the majority of the world seems to these days.

I’ve been going to Planned Parenthood for years. As a nanny with no immediate access to health insurance, this place is the best bet for all my feminine health needs. The prices are reasonable and the staff is extremely friendly!
However personable the staff may be though, they are not altogether knowledgeable. You may want to do a little research on the birth control they prescribe you, the medical advice they give etc. before making a decision. I’ve had a few health complications due to this. For example, I went there for my annual before seeing a general practicioner, because it was cheaper. I got the results 2 weeks later and took them to the Dr who told me he could barely understand the information they gave me. The terms and order used were confusing and not altogether clear. He had to give me an exam anyway just to be sure.
I’m not sure why pro-​lifers would target this place as they do not perform abortions here. The buzzer does make me feel safer though in regards to the busy area. Getting gout of their parking lot is kind of insane, maybe if you use a 10 point turn? The wait is almost always much longer than expected, I often wonder why they bother setting appointment times at all? I try to show up almost an hour before my appointment if I can.
The worst part about this place is the phone lines. Some days I get a busy tone the entire day, some days it just rings. You have to call 24 hrs ahead of time to refill your prescriptions and they do not make this easy at all. Also sometimes they might be randomly closed for no apparent reason. Which is infuriating if you drive far to get there.
Alas, I remain a faithful customer as it really is the best option for those of us with no health insurance. As I mentioned before, once you are in the clinic and checked out, it’s fairly cheap and convenient.

They are now known as Planned Parenthood Gulf Coast because they merged with Texas. I have been here for birth control and information and they have never let me down. They are local and accurate and non judgmental. Big thumbs up from me!

I called and left a message early in the morning and got a call right before they closed. I wanted an appointment but was told that it was $ 130 just to come in for a yearly exam…
I thought Planned Parenthood was supposed to be cheaper! I’ve been to one in Boston and I don’t think i paid anything at all. Guess i’ll go somewhere else.

Super duper nice staff (w/​the exception of one snarky lady). They don’t judge, they sincerely care about your well-​being.
Affordable healthcare especially when you think of what other OB/​GYNs would charge… a basic female annual exam costs only $ 105 …my mom got charged elsewhere (*women’s clinic *cough*) $ 300 for the same thing!!!
I understand most folks would consider how evil PP is (pro-​lifers) and I understand the dangerous position PP takes in helping folks — you have to have an appointment and be buzzed to get in.
They have a notebook in the reception area that’s truly inspirational, written by patients to just tell their tale. It’s really good to know how these young ladies are feeling confident and safe.
Parking is on-​street and they do have their own «parking lot» but it’s much safer and easier to park on Mag itself. Right across from Popeyes!!!
