My family has been coming to R & S for three generations — my grandmother, my mother, and now me. I have always felt comfortable trusting their advice and feel the price is reasonable given the quality of service they provide.

This is a good, family-​owned and operated repair shop. The head mechanic and owner, Ray, and his son oversee the repairs. I have gone here a number of times with different vehicles and have always left with my problem solved.
Ray is knowledgeable and thorough, and he takes time to explain every repair carefully. R & S is not especially cheap, and they’re not especially fast (you have to make an appointment days in advance) but you get reliable service.

My boss has been coming here for years and she suggested R&S to me. She’s gotten several vehicles serviced here, and I can see why. They always get her car in and out in a day.
Mine took two days but was ¹⁄₃ of the price I was quoted at another shop. The lady in the office said «we don’t like to keep cars over night.» That’s the right attitude in my opinion.
When I picked up the car, th guy who fixed my car asked me if I wanted to look at the pieces. I had a rough idea what the problem was, but found the way he explained the parts, the problems, and the solutions assuring, educational, and respectful.
They definitely earned a return customer!

I’ve gone to R&S for car repairs many many times based on the recommendations of several male friends. Simply due to being a woman and not being taken seriously at any auto repair shop, I followed their suggestions and brought my ’05 Ford Focus in for work. I was having serious issues with my brand new battery draining.
It took me several visits to actually get the problem officially resolved – mostly due in part to the fact that the batteries I was buying from Autozone on N. Broad were all defective. I was informed «this kind of thing happens». I would say all in all it took me three different visits to R&S to rectify the matter, but I only paid once. The first two times were merely inspections that I wasn’t charged for, and on the third trip I was charged for the labor to replace a deeply corroded battery lead. (The real problem!) A mere $ 40 – in exchange for the headache I must have brought them I believe that to be fair.
Also had work done here replacing a fan belt. Between the two brothers, I prefer to work with Sam. He’s joyfully pleasant, upbeat and doesn’t speak to you like you’re some kind of retarded kid that’s never operated a vehicle before. The receptionist is also very nice and really appreciates good handwriting – as she said when I handed her a personal check. «People don’t spend the time these days with their penmanship. Yours is very nice.»
I don’t care to work with Ray, who I perceive as the real-​life version of Oscar the Grouch, just without the trash can which I assume is not too far away. He’s grumpy, curt & generally seemingly growing tired with his work or tired with people. Either way 2 out 3 ain’t bad.
Quick repairs, decent pricing and informed throughout the process.

Took my Saab here for basic repairs before a road trip and they were wonderful. Ray took the time to explain repairs, made sure it was safe, and clearly put in the extra effort to do the job right the first time. Later when I took in my car for repairs and then had to leave it for an extended time the shop was extremely considerate and helpful throughout. Worth the money for the thought and care the mechanics and Noelle (the receptionist) put in.

Once had repair work done there and they charged me to replace my battery while they were at it. The problem with that was I just bought a new battery from Walmart a month earlier. So I looked under the hood to find my Walmart battery still there. When confronted, they refunded my money. I would not trust this buiness to change my oil.

Beware. I got ripped off by these people. I knew what was wrong with my car before I brought it in and told them what needed fixing. They said they’d run some other «tests» just to be sure. Well, 2 months and quite a bit of money later, they said they still couldn’t figure out what was wrong with it, if anything. Finally i insisted they replace the part I told them to replace in the first place. Once they did — bingo — the car was fixed, but not after charging me three times what the repair would have cost had I just brought it in to a dealership. Thought I was going to save some money with these folks, but ended up getting robbed. Very disappointed as they were recommended by a friend.
