Red Lantern

Adore. Adore. Adore. I simply adore the selection of apparel and accessories in this store. If you like unique and quirky, this is the shop for you. And, NY-​transplant Sara was a wonderful and welcoming face of the Red Lantern. I will be back!

One of my favourite finds in NOLA!
I found it then texted my son the location so that he and his girlfriend could shop here too. :)
Very cool socks, shoes, bags, dresses, capris, shorts, shirts, funny tshirts, jewelry…
I was in twice and both people there were vey helpful!
The owner even gave me recommendations for live music venues and good restaurants. She was so friendly!

Picked up some fun crawfish and mermaid socks here. If I had to characterize this store, it’s like a smaller, but way cooler Urban Outfitters. It’s what all the other hipster stores want to be, so cool no one has heard of it yet.
The guy (the store owner) behind the counter was so funny and kind. He asked where we were visiting from then proceeded to talk to my husband in Thai. Very cool guy! Great selection of unusual jewelry, fun socks, tee shirts, and lots of crazy boxers. The layout of the store was very nicely organized and the window dressing was so cute. There was a wide selection of snarky kids/​baby tees at the back of the store. Cozy little place with a great selection of gift items. If you are going to shop at small businesses and support local places, come here for fun and wearable gifts.

This is my FAVORITE boutique in NOLA. I visit the city every year, and this is one stop that I’ve always had to make. The dresses are fabulous and they always have lots of vibrant colors. The music they play as you shop is classic hop-​hop and Neo-​Soul. PERFECT for the design choices. Definitely a place to shop every visit.

Four and a half stars. My favorite shopping stop on our New Orleans visit. Picked up panda print socks, a necklace that could’ve sold for double on etsy, and an origami dress that cost more than I’d typically be willing to pay. Clothing fit varies by item, sale items racked in back as they dwindle in inventory and attractiveness. Men’s section is slightly smaller, but similarly fashionable. Jewelry, belt buckles, wallets by the counter… baskets and shelves of purchases, with some kitschy options arranged artfully to draw in passersby. The girl behind the counter was friendly in setting aside items for us to try on in the dressing room. I wanted to own all the shiny things…

Awesome place! I have a history shopping here over the past decade despite their ever changing location. It’s small yet they only bring in the most unique high quality clothes.

Any place with Sock It To Me socks in the window is alright by me. Nice selection for both men and women, but I’d say the ladies will have the best time here with the dresses and the jewelry. Lots of boutique-​y items, hats, ties, t-​shirts, socks and trinkets to be had. It’s all great, but Mike is the best part. He’s warm and personable and kind, and when it was nearing closing time and the people I’d told to check out the store before leaving town weren’t there yet, he was happy to hang a little late to let them browse. It worked out in his favor this time around. :)

Second favorite little shop next to Hemline (however, Hemline is appears to be a bit of a chain for the American South).
The woman at the register, and perhaps the owner, was so friendly and very eager to help and answered all our questions with a smile.
As another person mentioned, prices are reasonable, and there are many things that are absolutely adorable and unique. Sorry men, but this is a girly girl’s paradise with cute dresses, handbags, and jewelry. I am very pleased with the unique necklace I purchased and the $ 15 sunglasses.

Small. Clothing and accessories for men and women. Definitely hipster. I bought a cool arrow necklace, but the quality is questionable. Now that I’ve been wearing it a few hours, I wonder if it will survive a week. I’d go back, though… worth checking out.

Great styles, a nice change of pace from typical tourist stuff in NOLA. Loved the dresses and tops. The woman working there was extremely friendly and helpful. Only wish they had more sizes, it seemed they had a ton of Larges but not SM and Meds. I could have done a lot more damage then!

There are tons of botiques in the French Quarter, most of them filled with cheap crap. This place however could rival places in Providence, Boston, Minneapolis. Well curated with mustash necklaces, jumpers, and a nice array of hipster mens. I personally left with a pair of silver heart stud earrings I haven’t taken off since purchasing. The owner is one cool cat too — suggesting where to go as a tourist looking for a «local» experience.

Loved Red Lantern so much I stopped by twice in one day on a recent trip to NOLA.
The store isn’t huge but prices were very reasonable (at least for Miami standards), and I loved everything. From the purses, hats, and funky jewelry to the dresses, skirts and blouses it was seriously hard to refrain myself. After all, I had planned on spending all of my trip money on fantastic food and loads of booze.
I ended up with a cute button down, belted silk dress in a fun print, a polka dot skirt with pink ribbon embellishment and a cool pair of earrings. I left a happy girl!
They also have a small selection of guys stuff and some of the cutest onesies I have ever seen!

I LOVE this little shop…
The location is awesome because it’s near Pravda and Angeli’s two of my fav spots.
Not only that, but I have found myself staring in the windows of this store late at night on multiple occasions.
Just a note of what to expect. The walls are covered with cute, stylish, mod, and not too expensive clothes. They also have a smaller selection of guys things that I haven’t checked out as much but maybe I will next time I’m in there.
Towards the front of the store there are multiple interesting and clever tshirts and nice selection of jewelry. I got a couple of really cute necklaces the other day with my husband.
I’m seriously loving the collection of dresses they have right now. Go check it out :)

This has to be the only store in the French Quarter NOT selling tourist t-​shirts and mardi gras beads with boobies on them.
The owner was there and gave us some good tips on «where the locals go» to hang out at night. He was from the Carribean and was very cool.
The clothes and accessories were so unique, I loved everything he had!
I will definitely be returning on my next trip to New Orleans.

This store is a gem in the French Quarter. It’s a breath of fresh air and a nice break from all of the same tourist t-​shirts, beads and Saints gear. The owner was there the day we were shopping. He was very helpful and friendly. The clothes are super unique and cute and we thought they were very well priced. We will be back!

I really like this store as opposed to the kind of cheapy/​touristy clothes offered in that area. Good brands, prices are a little high but ok. The man running the shop was helpful and had a great eye for the clothes. The sale racks were terrific. I’m definitely stopping in again.

I was just here a week ago. I guess because the store is on Decatur now the owner might have needed to hire more help, but he was there when I went late, near closing time. There was only one last dress in the size and style I wanted but it had a spot on it and he gave me a pretty good discount (from 45 to 38) and he was super nice and chatty, and gave me his card.

I would have rated this place 4 stars 2 years ago, but it apparently has gone downhill in a big way. When I lived in NOLA, this place was a little gem in the back of the quarter. The owner was there every time I shopped there and was very friendly. They had really cute clothes at a good price. When I visited NOLA this past NYE I stopped by the store only to realize they are now in the thick of the quarter and the customer service is shot. The girl behind the counter was too busy talking to her boyfriend to notice that we were in the store, and she continued to chat up her boyfriend for the duration of our time in the store which lasted about 15 minutes. The clothes have also taken a different twist, and there are much more rasta clothes, and less locally made clothing. I realize maybe as a wanna be rastafarian, she may have been too cool, but honey you work in retail and it is your JOB to talk to customers.
I won’t be returning to red lantern, and I am sorry to see that the owner was no longer there. He was a cool guy.

Kinda pricey for what it offers, but that’s what the sales rack is for. Lots of rasta-​feelin clothing, with occasional gems of indie-​type classiness. Definitely worth checking out!
