Gabe is the best trainer I have ever had! I love reily because I always have a positive workout experience. It’s a top notch facility and the staff is always friendly and accommodating.

Great place to workout. Pool is kept a bit warm for my liking — my main complaint. Enjoy the patio space though!

The best pool in New Orleans! Even though it is for the faculty and students of Tulane, the public can use it the morning hours for a fee. For warmer weather there is an outdoor «social» pool where the kids can be taken and sunbathing can be done. There is a large jacuzzi that can be used by both sexes, single sex steam rooms and saunas. Of course state of the art fitness equipment, but that can be found any number of places. It’s the pools that really set this facility apart. The pool is 50 meters in length, divided into 25 meter lap lanes.

I love the reily center because I will always associate it with my transition from evening to early morning workouts. My experience with reily has been limited mostly to that time slot, so I’ve been able to miss the preening dude bros for the most part. The weight room is pretty extensive, and the cardio section is good. They also has great basketball, pool and studio class offerings. The only negative is the locker room, as the keypad locks sometimes malfunction. However, the sauna is a nice addition. This is a great option for people living in the area that are not associated with the university.

I’ve belonged to Reily on and off over the years. I’m back as a member right now, and I still can’t decide whether I’m really getting my money’s worth.
Pros of Reily center:
*Convenient location (for me, at least)
*I like the indoor running track
*It makes me happy that the TVs on the 3^rd floor are usually tuned to MSNBC and not Fox
*I haven’t used the pool in ages, but I remember I used to really like it
*Probably the cheapest gym membership in the New Orleans area
Cons:
*Not enough self-​serve lockers. You often have to go ask for a key because all the keypadded lockers are in use
*It’s not a huge gym, so often at peak times it can be difficult to find equipment you want
*I really wish that all members had access to a once a year fitness consultation — I could use some advice on my workout strategy, and don’t really want an ongoing trainer. I think it’d be a nice perk to offer to members once a year.

This is a fantastic facility, as it should be for Tulane tuition. As an employee, I get a discounted rate, which I don’t take advantage of because first, I hate driving Uptown and second, the parking on campus sucks. However, every year during Winter Break, all employees use the facility for free and it’s quiet, relatively student-​free, easier to park and has a great schedule of really good classes. Once the students come back though, it can get pretty crowded so I probably won’t ever buy a year-​round membership. Except maybe when I have kids; they do have child care available.

Having attended a Division I college for undergrad, I’d thought I had access to the best college sports facility during my four years there. Reily Center blows it FAR out of the water.
Membership is open to the community at a very affordable price, with so many options of group exercise classes catering to even Seniors and kids (so much so there’s a cute playroom under the stairs). I absolutely love that. Seeing 10-​something year olds running to class in their white taekwondo uniforms is such a pleasant sight. My eyes could use a break from grunting frat bros and sorority biddies in their tight fancy lululemon athletic gears.
The classes consist of typical offerings like PIyo, Zumba, Cardioboxing and so much more. I’m impressed by the specifically focused body toning/​conditioning classes e.g. AA (Ab-​solutely Abs) ABT (Abs Buns And Thighs), Strength on the Ball though I have yet to check them out. Most classes are free for members, with the exception of Spinning and Bodypump. An avid spinner, I purchased a semester pass for 40 dollars, which allows me to reserve a bike for an upcoming class! This system works SO well. I recall many a time driving to my undergrad gym to catch my 6:00 class, only to find that all bikes were occupied.
These instructors are serious athletes themselves, and SO much more energetic and than my NYSC instructors!
Allow me to just list why this may be the best college athletic facility: Digitally operated lockers, new equipments (probably equal to if not better than $ 200/​month Crunch gym), spacious Olympic-​sized pools, and in the Spring they open a small social pool with a sun deck. There’s a great recently renovated indoor track for runners who dread the heat of New Orleans summer, and it’s complete with a digital timer for serious runners!
Student-​staff are well-​trained and always available to answer all questions.
I really feel for those living in the downtown campus, since they live inconveniently far from this awesome gym. Kudos to Tulane for really caring about students’ health.

Having graduated from college quite a while ago, I get a lot of entertainment from seeing the undergrads «exercise» here. Don’t get me wrong, some people are actually exercising, but there are also a good amount of people doing a curl, looking at their abs in the mirror, nodding to themselves, then doing another curl & repeating the cycle. It’s amazing.
The bf and I went gym shopping prior to picking a place. Reily was the only location with so many amenities: pool (indoor and outdoor), free lockers, weight room with bumper plates, fitness classes, indoor track, basketball courts… ect. In addition to that, the price for Tulane alum and faculty/​staff is great. Thus, we also chose to go here also since I work for Tulane and the deal is great (he gets the family deal — we had to show proof of same address and shared bank acct). If you’re interested in checking out the facilities, someone will give you a tour at the front desk.
In the future, I’d like to get back into crossfit, but while trying to save money — it’s a no go. So, Reily is great for the price since it was the only gym out of 5 places we checked out that had the racks/​room/​bumper plates where we could do oly lifting. Only annoying thing is that the hours change based on the school schedule (ex summer/​winter break hours are shorter) — so you have to keep an eye out for that.

I’m going there for Kendo classes. Frank Anselmo is a great teacher with 4^th Dan, and official licensed by the All American Kendo Association. We have students from all over the world and all ages.

I’ve gone through my exercise phases. When I was a sophomore in college, at Tulane, I went to Reily just about every day. For this, it is really good. The weight room is spacious and, after the first week or so of the semester is over, the crowd usually thins out and you don’t have very much trouble finding machines, weights, space, etc. Their are several racquetball courts, and you can check out the equipment to play. The same can be said about the basketball courts.
Reily offers all kinds of classes, from ballroom dancing to Kendo and Martial arts. They also offer a variety of fitness courses.
This place loses one star because, though the service is good, it’s nothing more. It’s staffed by students, and having been a student employee myself, I know that they are probably highly un-​motivated and working for little to no money. Their apathy is understandable.
Beyond that (which I totally sympathize with) Reily is a nice place to workout with all kinds of free amenities for members. If it were a bit better service and a bit less occupied during the school year, it would be worthy of five stars.

The Reily Center was awesome while I was a student at Tulane, though of course I rarely took advantage of it back in the day. I’ve been there since graduation for swing dance classes and the occasional ping-​pong or game of tennis. The tennis courts are super nice, I’m not sure if you can reserve the ones out back, or only the two in front of the building, but the ones behind Reily are nicer.
The ping pong tables are *excellent.* As you may know, I’m a huge fan of ping pong, and there’s TONS of space to play. There are only a few tables, but every time I’ve been there it seems that there’s usually one available. Failing that, you can jump in on a game: there isn’t a huge line like at, say, Robert’s bar.
During the school year, the elliptical machines are usually taken, and obviously (since the students are there), the whole facility in general is busier. It’s relatively quiet in the summer. Reily has an indoor track, indoor lap pool, outdoor «social pool,» raquetball courts, ongoing group exercise classes, a basketball court, field out front, and the above mentioned tennis courts and ping-​pong tables.
Overall, it’s a great facility. But, it’s Uptown, so therefore inconvenient for me. It’s also pretty expensive if you’re not a student/​alumni/​faculty, but you can still get a membership if you’re not affiliated with the school. The family membership is fairly reasonable, and I believe it’s less expensive in the summer. I’d definitely verify all this with member services, though.
