In the hailstorm of January 2000, my insurance co. (State Farm) refused to pay for a full replacement of my slate roof. They insisted on paying ONLY for a simulated slate roof which would be cheaper on material and labor.
They maintained that the home made from the wood of barges in 1940 had an original «simulated» slate roof. –a material that was not available at that time.
I went to Chip Forstall and you don’t even see/​meet the guy. I had an (attorney/​paralegal)? that was new, refer my case to another firm because this type of case was not what they were «used to».
I went to «Robert Harvey» as they suggested and had gotten what I despise. A «Tulane law grad» that was told to his face I didn’t care for because they are «scared chickens» when it comes to going to trial.
Well he called State Farm insurance co. And they said «we are not paying, sue us!» I am sure you can picture the rest of the story. My puppet chicken said that I should contact someone else because it didn’t appear to be a «strong» case and made up every excuse that someone afraid to walk into a courtroom could possibly come up with.
Unless you have a car accident – where you were hit from behind and quickly need to get a settlement I would avoid this firm.
I have some real attorneys. Attorneys are like doctors, they get a law license and practice a specific field: Child support, DUI’s, bankruptcy, social security, estate planning & successions, criminal defense, lawmakers (atty’s dream-​elected public service), and class-​action. You should have a separate attorney for each one.
State Farm Insurance co. would not pay because my insurance agent’s rep submitted multiple statements (with different amounts) because her then husband was the roofer. I stood to gain nothing. After my complaint (and apparently multiple others) to the state insurance commissioner’s office, the State Farm’s licensed insurance agent from State Farm agent Warren Bloom’s office had her state issued insurance license was permanently revoked. Warren Bloom was actively participating in the claim and «should» have been aware of ALL aspects of this claim…
When State Farm was actively committing fraud, the natural response is to try and turn the tables and threaten YOU with the threat of insurance fraud.
Jim Donelon (insurance commissioner) had a suggestion. Go and get an attorney. «It sounds like your case is valid…»
I appreciate that Chip Forstall took on his pet project of the G.N.O. Bridge tolls. It initially won by a few votes, and lost by thousands in a second vote…
–Now I do believe in voter fraud–
BUT– was disappointed in the fact that if it took more than lifting a finger to win a case/​or get reimbursed, then you should contact someone else. That is what makes me real skeptical about this firm.
But this is my opinion based on facts that occurred in my situation. You should form your own opinion.
