Specialties
Alpine Logic is owned by IFMGA mountain guide Silas Rossi and specializes in custom mountain adventures for all ages and abilities. Whether rock climbing, ice climbing, backcountry skiing, or mountaineering Silas tailors each adventure to your goals and abilities.
Based in New Paltz, NY (home of the Gunks!) Silas appreciates the diversity and easy access of the climbing found in the Northeast. The many cliffs and crags serve as a year round office, as well as an excellent training ground for regular expeditions to bigger ranges around the world.
Whether you are looking to climb in the Gunks, Catskills, or Adirondacks or travel further from home to the Alps, Dolomites, Alaska, or Katahdin, Alpine Logic looks forward to helping you achieve your dreams!

Business Owner
Much of Silas’ life — both personal and professional — is spent seeking out high and wild places. He is an internationally licensed IFMGA mountain guide, owner of Alpine Logic, LLC, and teaches professional guide training courses for the American Mountain Guides Association (AMGA).
While based in the Gunks of New York, Silas is an alpine climber at heart and spends much of the year in the greater mountain ranges across the US and abroad. Summers find him guiding alpine peaks in Chamonix and the Tetons, and rock climbing in the Italian Dolomites. He spends winters in the Catskills, Adirondacks and White Mountains where he guides ice climbing, backcountry skiing, and teaches avalanche education courses. Fall and spring are blend of destination trips and an annual pilgrimage to Alaska where Silas has put up significant first ascents. Katahdin, Maine’s highest point and home to the biggest alpine terrain in the northeast, keeps Silas returning to Maine each year.
