White Barn Farm Sheep and Wool

This is the kind of place that makes me yearn for a simpler life, outside of the city. A life where I tend to my backyard chickens, and my little vegetable garden, and knit all my own sweaters and gifts for family.
A converted barn, this shop and workshop space is overflowing with yarns of all types. I was especially excited by their local selection, wool carefully dyed in a vast array of colors and weights. I only wish I could spend longer in the Hudson Valley and take a class here… and um, maybe meet the local sheep?

I love Paula! She is cheerful, helpful, and not pushy. The yarn selection has a local section and is very thoughtfully chosen. They stock great yarn as well as fiber, offer classes, and have knit group twice a week. 5 stars!

As a budding knitter to be, I was hard pressed to not want to stop into White Barn when I stumbled upon it. I recognized it immediately from my bookmarks and decided to give it a little recon in advance of a trip I am going to make soon.
I do not know anything about knitting except that I want to do it using fibers from sheep for that purpose-​fiber. Or goats or whatever animals are not harmed in the acquisition of their hairs. No Shatoosh for me! And I am not a big fan of synthetics, yuck!
White Barn is guess what, in a grand old white barn with a silo gleaming brilliantly in the sunshine. The setting is über bucolic and is gorgeous! Beyond its four colorful Adirondack chairs which coordinate with their front door is a world of texture, color and knowledge, knitting supplies and «knitisan» creations the likes of which are not seen for many many miles around.
I was captivated and mesmerized by the offerings they had but did not touch as my hands were coated with goat slobber from an earlier farm stop. :))) I look forward to returning and getting some fibers to make myself a wonderful OOAK chapeau for winter. Or perhaps pick up one of their already made creations just in case… ;)))
