Previously, I had gone to another place for the salt therapy.
I decided to stop in here to inquire about their therapeutic salt room experience.
I was informed that my first salt therapy session would be $ 25.00 (50% off).
A super sweet young woman Amanda had escorted me to a private room for my 45 minute salt session. The room had two small twin beds prettily decorated with a single strand of orchids on each bed.
Each bed is heated :)
You are shown the switches to adjust the volume of the relaxing music along with the lighting.
It was a very peaceful 45 minute session.
Best of all, the salt therapy had cleared my sinuses naturally.
Goodbye to decongestants!
Should you go with a guest, a room for two is $ 75. You can get a Sea Salt Massage in the salt room for $ 90. Another tempting addition is a facial in the salt room for $ 100.

The salon offers other wonderful services.
Definitely would return to this salon for future salt therapy services.

Went here with a girlfriend for massages and didn’t love it. From beginning to end, everything seemed off. Any time I have gone to a place for massage, there’s usually a special area to wait to decompress and get you ready for relaxation. There isn’t any place like this. You wait in the entrance area where people are coming in and out of the salon and checking in and out and the seating is very limited.
The room I was placed in was a salt room. It was cool looking inside and I was told it’s used for people with asthma and other respiratory issues (to help their breathing). Seemed interesting and something I hadn’t seen before. The issue here though was the bed. It was very uncomfortable as the head rest wasn’t level. There is no way you could have a worthwhile massage on this wooden table. They tried to fix it but it didn’t happen. About 10 minutes later, I was able to get another room which I appreciated.
The room I did have was much more zen like; dark and calming with relaxing music. The problem was that about one person could fit in here. My masseuse occasionally knocked into things and there wasn’t even a place for her to put the comforter for the bed (she put it on top of my shoes which were on the floor). The massage itself was just OK. Nothing special or out of this world to note. I wasn’t blown away, but I did relax. Afterwards, I was brought back to the front into the hustle and bustle of the salon, which ended any relaxation I was feeling in an instant.
In my opinion, this place is more of a salon that offers massages, though it’s not their main business or speciality. There were plenty of people getting their hair and nails done and there were plenty of stations for those services. But Skin Deep misses the mark when it comes to a true massage experience. I’d much rather pay the $ 100+ and get a full spa-​like experience.

Had a great experience with Julia, had a therapeutic massage for 60 mins and even though we started late she didn’t short change me on time! She didn’t talk to me during the massage which I prefer so I can relax. This place is pricey but considering the area and the ambience, I feel it was worth it. I’ve been to massage envy and elements in the area and not had an enjoyable massage at either. This was exactly what I needed and I will go back and ask for Julia!

Skin Deep has the potential to be great but it isn’t. Some technicians are wonderful (20%) but then there is a rotation of new girls that never stay. The polish color selection is substandard and boring. I don’t care if it is vegan, I just want cool, slightly in style, tad bit trendy colors. Even my gray haired mother is bored with the colors! most bottles are only ¹⁄₃ full & clumpy!
I will say It is very clean. I’m not afraid of catching a fungus. Because of the construction & technicians over scheduled it is no longer relaxing. I understand renovations but it is over a year. Barbour products are excellent but the facials are rushed.
Ruth at the front desk is great & the only one who gets things done correctly. Don’t waste your time with anyone else up there.
I used to like Skin Deep. Now, they are overextended and cutting corners with quality products & time. Prices no longer reflect the quality & experience. I’m not ready to go to a shady Asian nail spot, but I’m looking for somewhere new. I think Susan (owner) misses the mark.

Skin Deep Day Spa in New Providence, NJ takes the prize for worst pedicure experience.
I will start at the beginning… there was a crowd when I entered near the check-​in/​check-​out line AND three ladies behind the desk — one was helping the family check-​out (mom and two daughters) and the other two were just chatting. Finally after a couple of minutes of being ignored the smart one working reception instructed one of the two ladies to check-​in the folks that now had formed a line starting with me. When I was checked-​in — they just confirmed by name — never what service I was there for or who would be giving me my service (which was a pedicure).
Thankfully the experience seemed to be improving as my name was called less than two minutes after taking a seat by reception — however that optimism was quickly squashed as the person (she never introduced herself) mumbled to follow her and then basically left me to figure out what to do next — after picking a color. Again she never confirmed what service I would be receiving — I at least could confirm I was getting a pedicure — however I signed up for a lemongrass one — however even as I type this — I have no idea if that is what I got. I don’t think it was Lemon Grass because I was in and out in well under 60 minutes — but I did spend $ 42. She filled the soaking tub with really hot water — asked me which salts I wanted — and threw them in the hot water. When I went to put my feet in the tub — I couldn’t — it was too hot — so she drained water and the salts she never stirred and then put in cold water — and never replenished the salts. So much for being «energized» by the salts.
From start to finish the service was lacking — I have had much better at $ 20 nail salons down the street — save your money and go there if you want someone to provide any form of basic courtesy and service — I had tested a few colors on my thumb (had a little palette) — and never did the person ask to remove the color for me (which she clearly saw). The woman never had a smile and she was belligerent in her actions and tone. It was a very uncomfortable experience — I regret not walking out. At one point I literally had to raise my voice to her and say — I am sorry but I didn’t understand you — it was as if she was chastising me for not paying attention — when I simply couldn’t understand her mumble. Outside of the rudeness — the woman caused extreme pain — she kept missing my nail bed and then would scratch the polish off the surrounding cuticle area. It was horrible!
After I was finished — she had me follow her to the dryer — never once asking what I thought of the pedicure she gave me — in all salons I have been — they at least ask — what do you think? — which to me indicates they are proud of their work — unlike this woman. And that was the last I saw of her — she turned on the dryer and left me there — after three sessions of drying — I got up — grabbed some cotton and polish remover from the table across the way — and took the color palette off my finger — total self service :). I also then took off the disposable flip flops and cotton (which I don’t know why she made me use — since I wore my own flip flops which she was aware of) — and looked for a garbage can to throw them out. I can’t believe she totally vanished and left me to throw out the trash — then again I think I can!
When I went to check out — guess who was standing on the side of the reception counter with a frown on her face and her head resting in her arm — the pedicurist. All I can say is good riddance to her and Skin Deep Spa… if you want a friendly passionate pedicure experience — go to the other nail salons on Springfield. You will get a much better experience for half the cost.
