History

Established in 1989.

After being raised by a dance teacher Jenny Coleman studied dance at Texas Christian University and got her masters degree in Dance Therapy from the Hahnemann medical school at Drexel University.

After working at a hospital for a few years it was time to sign her daughter up for ballet lessons. She took her to a few classes around Westchester and thought to herself «I could do better»; so, she began teaching her daughter and friends out of her home.

The Coleman School of Dance has grown from three students to seventy. The classes range from creative movement for three year olds to ballet class for mothers and all ages in between.

Her daughter Christina Coleman grew up to be a dancer, a choreographer, and an NYU graduate with a masters in Dance Education. She now teaches with her mother, and has opened up a branch of the schoool for the more rigorous student: Coleman Teen Dance Company.

Coleman School of Dance is a family business, and they treat their students like family.
