Garber’s Automotive Service

I know people often hate being the first to write a review for a place and honestly I meant to write one after the first service I had done here several months ago but forgot.
With that being said, I’ll break the ice and say that this place is fantastic! I’ve been here twice now for services on my SUV which has been far less reliable than it should’ve been and repairs for it are generally on the higher side in terms of price. I moved out to this area about 6 months ago and most of my work takes me to the downtown DC area and everywhere in between.
The first service came after the exhaust and catalytic converter decided it was time to rust through and separate. My car drove poorly and was embarrassingly loud. It was stressful since repairs are generally very expensive on on this car and often must be fully replaced if non rusted metal parts can’t be welded properly together. With 120k+ miles, spending a small fortune on something that will grossly outlive my car wasn’t really in my plans or budget. When I came in, the car was inspected and I was given the full range of options. I chose to try and weld it together which was a fraction of the cost to fully replace and less than a day later the car was fixed and running well.
This past week, I finally managed to come by for another estimate for work on what I had thought was a single tie rod issue on the front right side. The car no longer felt safe to drive and I’m preparing for a long road trip across the county. The bad news was that it was both front tie rods and a wheel bearing but on the plus side, the cost to repair all wasn’t much more than what I expected for just the single tie rod.
These guys operate out of a small town that’s easy to miss and run a very clean, professional shop. In both cases, they’ve taken as much time as necessary to explain the issues to me (someone with limited knowledge when it comes to repairs) and then fully explain my options both in relation to cost and effectiveness.
My car was repaired today and done much quicker than I expected and it honestly hasn’t felt this good to drive in a while, especially considering I’m close to 130,000 miles now. They are all very friendly and clearly knowledgable and explained everything without even the slightest bit of condescension (which we all probably agree is rare for repair shops).
Would DEFINITELY recommend this place to anyone with 100% confidence and will continue to take my vehicle to this shop as long as I’m living in the Maryland area. Great shop and great people working there!
