86th Street & Broadway Subway Station

Can’t give this station anything less than 3 stars because it gets me from here to there. I do think however, the wait for a subway at this particular station is a bit too long. Around 13 minutes in between trains. This might be the hottest subway spot I have ever encountered too, although one good thing is I always have service on the platform. There aren’t any garbage cans around which is inconvenient too. There are two metro ticket machines and I have never found myself waiting more than a minute, however the ticket booth with the attendant takes FOREVER. The pace is slower than slow back there and they have two people working. Last time I was here, there were at least four people on line behind me, two workers, one working slower than a snail and the other just looking at the line and didn’t think maybe it would be a good idea to open her window and assist other customers. It was frustrating, so I recommend using the machines if available.

Horrible service. There is always something wrong with the 1 in the morning going uptown, and regardless of when I leave my house I am 12 minutes away from the next train. Inconsistent, slow, unreliable, and in general horrible. We are planning on moving up to 96 soon because the 1 is so bad before 7am. Hey, MTA, some people don’t work 9 – 5. Maybe you should line up your trains and have them arrive on time.

I use this station a lot especially during the weekends and there’s always a problem. eiter train derailment or weekend fixing the one train I’m forced to have a new route just incase this one is messed up.

I often use this train station because this is the station I work at. The train is reliable and comes on time. It also has a clock to show when the next train will become available at the station. I’d say the only downfall in the station is around 3−5PM when the trains are packed because everybody’s Traveling trying to get home.
On the uptown side I’ve noticed that there are a lot of loud noisy teenagers don’t know how to lower their voice When getting out of school to head home uptown.

I have to give it four stars for the Internet access. The downside is you can only get the 1 train here but it’s easy enough to get to and is consistent with other subway stations further up. I didn’t see anything particularly gross or nasty here. It does get very loud here with the express trains coming by so you might not want to call people down here even though you’ll have phone reception. You will probably want to text instead.
