This is mostly a review for the main stage where they were holding their Bang on a Can live karaōke. I know it was a benefit, but they must have better ways to fundraise other than to allow drunk, poor singers butcher 80s and 90s songs. The bartender was also a bit aloof, but probably because he had earplugs in (can’t blame him!). Maybe you have to be part of the in-​crowd to enjoy it, but the experience did not make me want to donate to the cause. The musicians were good though, but that’s to be expected.

I came here for the Person Place Thing event with Rachel Dratch. You can get special discounted tickets if you are under (35 or maybe it’s 30). I paid $ 15 for my ticket and really enjoyed this 1 hour event with Rachel (+Q&A). The setup was great and was in the main stage– which has a bar and some tables (but lots of seats). There was a guy playing an accordion as you walked in and it was so entertaining. I’ll definitely be back for more events.

It was my first visit to the 92Y in Tribeca and it sure was entertaining! Bubbie is a nickname for «grandmother» and a bunch of culinary world personalities came to discuss their relationships with their Bubbies. Lots of laughs and great stories, but my favorites were Jake Dell (of the Katz Deli legacy) and Carla Hall (former Top Chef contestant.) I even won one of the raffle prizes, but unfortunately they accidentally gave my prize away so they will have to ship me a new one. Lots of foodie events today and I am on information overload! Not a bad problem to have though! I love this city and everything it has to offer! :)

This place was my home away from home for a very long time. The entire staff gets to know you by name and will start to prepare your usual from the moment you walk in the door. Meals are pricey, but for the quality you are getting what you pay for.
The lox and a bagel is better than ever since the chef recently changed to using home cured salmon lox. A great value at the price!
My only disappointment is that as much as I’ve loved this place, the prices have recently skyrocketed. I’ll still be around, but nowhere near as frequently as before.

We saw Jack Black interview here and it’s a fantastic, intimate setting with friendly staff and it was a wonderful time.
Cannot wait to return!

I’ve been looking for places for lunch around work and this place is just perfect.
There is always plenty of seating, even in the prime 12−1pm time slot. Wait for food is minimal. It is super clean, price is more than reasonable (about $ 8 — $ 10), just all around a nice relaxing hang out.
I had the fish patty burger, which reminded of crab cake. The ingredient seemed fresh. My friend ordered the chicken guac sandwich, which is huge.

I saw the Microscopic Septet here a couple of years ago; to tell you the truth, they’re the only musical act I’ve seen so far here, but the acoustics of the room were good – and the Micros are one of my favorite bands, so just say I’m partial.
Currently I go several times a week for their $ 1.00 coffee – in my own cup – because I’m right there. (The coffee is self-​serve so you can use your own cup; your cup can’t go behind the counter because that wouldn’t be kosher – literally.) I’ve been checking out the food in the case, and asked today if they had anything vegan. (Don’t expect to get any bacon or shrimp here; they’re a kosher-​certified dairy café by day.) Yes; the soups are vegan. The muffins and pastries, of course, are not.
[ETA: Today the guy behind the counter handed me a punch card with one punch in it. At buy five, get one free – $ 1 a pop – this is now the cheapest coffee in town – if you bring your own mug. Unless you hang around film shoots and snag yourself some free coffee.]

We went there on Saturday night as we’ve heard one of the bands perform at 42^nd street Grand Central Station and really liked it.
I got the deal for a reasonable price for the Saturday night’s show.
It was a fun-​filled 3 hours’ long performance by 3 different bands one better than the other.
I don’t know after how many months was I tempted to dance with my husband!
It was freezing by the time we got out after the performances but it was all worth it.
The only minus was that it was the same night when Whitney Houston died and it was quite ironical that we were celebrating at a concert. It also snowed a little bit on our way back but it was all worth the experience.
We are def going back again soon and maybe with friends and family this time.

While I have not dined at the café or attended any of the lifestyle events, I have both performed on and attended comedy shows here. I feel like the ticket price of $ 12 + service is steep considering that in a much more easily gotten to location in downtown Manhattan, you can see the same comics for $ 5, if not free. I prefer an inexpensive ticket so I can spend my money on booze. Attending an event here, with the two item minimum politely imposed, seems like you’re not getting out without shelling out $ 40 at the least, which is just too comedy club wacka wacka for me.
And while they do book some really quality names and funny shows, I have had nothing but bad experiences with their website. Promo codes never seem to work, and when they do you wonder why they were issued when they amount to basically zip. Put their per ticket handling charges on top of it and, well…
One of the most disrespectful conversations I have ever had with someone took place with an employee who was supposed to be a customer service agent. Not so much with the service part! But I guess I could forgo even that if I felt like it wasn’t just so ass-​backwards.
I want to really like this place, and I was happy when they finally re-​opened after a long hiatus, but they just seem to be aping what’s going on independently downtown– and charging an undeserved premium to do so. They’re not unlike the Urban Outfitters of comedy in that way. You’re better served checking out Sweet @ Ella, UCBEast, or Luca Lounge for some solid, cheap and quality indie comedy. Or head to Long Island City to The Creek & The Cave, or Freddy’s in Brooklyn. Most shows at these venues are free or $ 5.
Again, this is specifically in reference to their comedy programming. I have nothing to add regarding the myriad of other stuff they seem to do here.

First time there I tried to get some scrambled eggs. After the wait started to seem long and I watched the «chef» shuffle some things, and walk around and eat, he told me that he screwed up my order and had to start again (I ordered scrambled eggs with tomatoes & cheese).
Really?! Screwing up scrambled eggs speaks for itself. Then the cashier was rude with me when I asked for my $$ back.

(again, for café only) my favorite things to order:
1. green pea burger: a huge fried patty of mushed green peas… much much better than i can describe.
2. wasabi deviled eggs: topped with a piece of tuna loin and sprinkled with roe — it’s like a carb-​free sushi. YUM
3. hijiki salad: $ 7 for lemon cured salmon, nutty hijiki, fat slices of papaya and avocado on mixed greens.

Café review only!
The very tasty veggie Mac and cheese — with creamy sauce, breadcrumbs, and small bits if vegetables — was served in a huge bowl. Not bad for $ 7, although a little side of greens would have really made it. The only downside was that it was served lukewarm.

This place is really unexpected. I choose to check it out because I needed a place that was certified Kosher for a friend of mine who is quite religious. This place fit the bill.
It is a bit pricey for lunch. It’s a modified deli and one comes to expect certain price points. It’s in Tribeca, though so what do you really expect?
I would say that I really enjoyed everything I ate and even though it’s been months since I stopped by, I remember the food fairly well. The Reuben was fairly large. I think most people would like it though I am particular to having a bit more dressing. The pickles are half sour. I prefer that. Many others do not. The Wasabi Deviled eggs were my absolute favorite. Delicious! The Beet salad was pretty good as well.
I took 1 star off because the price point and the style doesn’t quite match. It’s trendy, but it’s set up as a deli. A bit odd. However, high marks, as it’s actually a true pain to find a kosher place that is still tasty to non-​Kosher folks.

I came here for an education talk by the New America Foundation, and I found the space to be very clean and good for a decent-​sized talk. The space also includes a bar, which was surprising — at least for what I think about the «Y» — but there was no bad seat in the house, and the sound system was very good. Glad I could check out the venue!

92Y Tribeca is an open, versatile space.
Shop by their café, but don’t forget to return for music, a show, or film screening. 92YTribeca hosts events during the day and at night to serve the community in the arts. Best of all, they’re open everyday — check their web site for hours and event listings.
At their café, friendly staff are happy to help you. I ordered a toasted cinnamon raisin bagel (piled high with cream cheese) that hit the spot, and a strong coffee to warm my hands. At just a dollar, it was a bargain anyway.

I really enjoyed my experience here! Although i came on a quieter night, it’s a pretty cool place to grab a bite and enjoy a film.
I was there to watch «The Landlord» (an awesome movie set in park slope in the 70s, highly recommend it!) and was there a little bit early. I grabbed a deelish oatmeal raisin cookie (a steal at $ 1!) and settled in the café for some reading.
The theater is pretty small — maybe seats 50. I’m sure weekend movies get a much larger crowd and requires advance purchase and getting to the venue earlier. A hipster dude gave an intro to the movie, and it was pretty informative — fun facts about the director and how park slope was before the gentrification. Educational and entertaining!

One of the worst, if not THE worst venue in all of NYC.
Even worse than Terminal 5 (which you can find in my reviews). Before I detail the problems, let me first say that the staff was SUPER kind and gracious. I wish they could have made up for the terrible experience of the actual venue.
Note: this venue would have a much lower and accurate rating if the «reviewers» would stop rating based on what they THINK the place is like, even though they’ve never been to it or seen a show there, or if they would rate the entire venue, instead of just the snacks and food served in the front. Unilocal is a review site, not just a check-​in/​hope-​I-​get-​to-​go site.
So… FIRST: the kitchen is connected directly to the performance space so that during the performance, competing with the stage are banging pots, clanking pans, jangling silverware, and bright lights blasting over and over through the swinging/​slamming doors into the otherwise great ambiance of low light. THE. ENTIRE. SHOW. OVER. AND. OVER. Listening to someone perform on the piano while pots and pans are crashing to the floor, over and over and over, is absolutely startling and stressful.
NEXT: the bar takes up a large portion of the floor space alongside the seating/​standing area, which would be fine, except that people who like to stand around and talk LOUDLY throughout an entire performance tend to gather around the bar area. So on top of the kitchen assaulting the senses, you are flanked by a mob of loud-​talking, laughing, partying idiots who seem to have forgotten or completely disregarded that you paid money to see/​hear the person on the stage, NOT THEM! The audience who is being respectful to the performer spends half of the time having to «shhhhhh» the people partying at the bar, while the other half of the time the bar people are trying to talk or yell over the performer.
Frankly, it was one of the worst experiences I’ve ever had, and in a venue that has so much potential. Maybe a hair-​metal or hip-​hop or rave party would be good in this space, but it’s not a place to see anyone performing in any other way. To be fair, I’ve only been once, and I doubt I would go back, but maybe it was an «off» night. The crowd may be something that changes, but I don’t know how they could remedy the kitchen door situation.

I really want to like this place because it’s right across the street from where I work and is the only place nearby. However, it’s pretty awful.
The food takes FOREVER to get to you. I usually end up spending about 15 minutes waiting in line to order, and then another 15 minutes until my food is ready. Once the food comes out, it’s pretty inedible. I’ve had different soups from them before, and they all taste pretty bad. The butternut squash looked like urine, and didn’t taste delightful. (Just didn’t think you could mess up soup this badly!)
I’ve never been to the events here, but I’m sure they’re fun. I’ve tried sooo hard to like it here, but I just can’t.
