Like the place a lot… just wish it were bigger, for it is quite snug. The sushi is excellently priced and the menu expansive. When Sun Café(around the corner) closed, many of us started coming here. We hope it will stick around for a while!

Gotta show this place some more love. I’ve been frequenting this place a lot and it’s just plain amazing. Whenever I do pick up, the workers are all nice. It’s always been empty inside, so I guess they do the majority of their business in deliveries. Yeah, their delivery can be a smidge late half the time. But their sushi is always FRESH and never tastes fishy. This is what sushi is supposed to be: melt in your mouth kind of stuff. Prices are perfect. I just really love this place. Akimoto, don’t change. You’re great.

A must visit sushi shop when in TriBeCa. Their fish is fresh and the guys will ensure you’re happy with your selection.

For what it is, you can’t beat the price(lunch specials) and quality of this place. This is my go-to sushi delivery spot and they’re always super fast. While their menu is pretty standard– especially when it comes to the roll offerings– their quality is consistent, which is really important. Overall, solid sushi spot in the $$ range.

I have to say — for Seamless sushi delivery this is pretty good! I’ve been extremely impressed with the sashimi!(which is odd, b/c i typically would never order sashimi on delivery or a place that I didn’t know what really fresh/high quality), and it has been the best items on their menu for me. Calamari app was NOT good and the salad ingredients seemed to be pre-frozen lettuce that hadn’t quite thawed? But stick to the fish and the basics and I would highly recommend for quick, very affordable sushi. Love that they deliver to FiDi.

reasonable price, and an OK sushi, above average for the area. i work in financial district and the reality is most of the sushi places suck or overpriced. I usually order chicken teriyaki(which you want to be well done, otherwise it sucks) and various rolls with miso soup. the delivery is fast though

I’ve been ordering lunch from Akimoto for a long time, but NEVERAGAIN. I ordered the $ 11.253 roll lunch special today, and when the food was delivered, everything was incorrect. I was not given any of the sushi that I ordered. So I called the restaurant and the woman on the phone said she would make the correct order and send it to me. I asked if she wanted the old, hours-old sushi order back, but she said KEEPIT. So I gave it to a colleague who hadn’t eaten lunch yet. I’m not going to throw it out. An hour later, the delivery man shows up at my office and says he will give me the correct order if I give back the old order. Turns out Akimoto changed their mind. Delivery guy yelled at me, then got that woman on the phone to yell at me(«Just give back the old order and you can have the new one.» «I can’t give the old one back. You told me to keep it.» «You ate the old order?» «I gave it to a colleague.» «IFYOUDIDN’T EATIT, JUSTGIVEITBACK.» Eventually I had to just give up because, you know, I have work to do, because I’m at work. So my lunch was an $ 11.25 miso soup. I guess I’ll make that money back in all the business I’m not giving Akimoto anymore.

This is the 3rd sushi restaurant I’ve tried in the area and honestly its by far not my favorite. The lunch menu comprises of an ample amount of options from 2 or 3 regular sushi dishes(comes with either soup or salad), bento boxes, fried rice and some more for about $ 12-$ 16. I tried 2 sushi rolls(spicy crunch tuna & avocado and shrimp) with salad as a starter. The salad was your typical iceberg lettuce, 1 grape tomato and 1 cucumber slice with ginger dressing. The sushi rolls had A LOTMORE rice than seafood — bummer. The spicy crunchy tuna was missing the crunch. The avocado and shrimp was bland. The dish came with tons of slices of ginger which was not too strong in taste. I normally get specialty rolls since regular rolls tend to lack flavor, but I did not see any specialty rolls in their lunch menu. My suggestion is that they re-work their sushi rolls to have an even amount of every ingredient and include specialty rolls in the lunch menu.

Loved this place. Came all the way from Pearl St. and walked over. Price is great, and food was super fresh and oh so good. I had the lunch special with the 3 rolls, and it was PERFECT. Great price for lunch and a TON of variety of food. Will definitely go back here for Sushi. Thanks a lot.

FIDI is really limited when it comes to dinner options, ESPECIALLY take out. I live in the area and I’ve tried a lot of the sushi that downtown has to offer(Kaede, Sushi A La Kawa, Hamachi I live next to Haru… you get the point) Akimoto does not disappoint! I decided to check out their rating recently and I’m actually shocked they only have 3 stars! The delivery is quick, the fish is ALWAYS fresh and generously cut, price to portion ratio cannot be beat! I order sushi from Akimoto probably every other week. I’ve tried the majority of their rolls, sashimi, sushi, and a few appetizers and in my opinion it is the best! They also have veggie gyoza which is pretty cool…

You get a decent amount for what you pay for, when it comes to the lunch sets. This place isn’t run by Japanese(or even Chinese for that matter), I think they’re Hmong or something. Anyway, don’t expect super authentic sushi, but hey.

I have never actually been here in person, but when I’m staying late at work this is my go-to seamless sushi place. I am a big fan of their sushi and sashimi dinner bento box($ 18) because they really stuff it up and it is great bang for the buck. It comes with about 5 pieces of sushi, 8 pieces or sashimi(chef’s choice of salmon, tuna, yellowtail and shrimp usually), caifornia roll(4 pieces), gyoza(or your choice of shumai), haru maki, seaweed salad, rice and miso soup. I really enjoy ordering from akimoto because their delivery is really fast. I can usually place the order on seamless and have it at my desk within 25 minutes. Dont expect the finest quality sushi, but be satisfied with the amount they give — it’s good enough to fill most sushi cravings.

Pretty good sushi, not too expensive either. I usually go for their rolls during lunch time which is only $ 11 for 3 rolls. Quality is great and the rice to fish ratio is really good. Definitely recommend coming through.

On the 24th of January I ordered a 2 roll lunch special from Akimoto to my work via Seamless. I’ve ordered from them in the past with no incident, however, on the 24th I contracted food poisoning from the rolls I ate. They were spicy rolls so I didn’t notice anything was off until it was too late. About an hour after I ate them I started to get feelings of nausea and that progressed into full blown food poisoning. I was up all night and had symptoms for 3 days after. Unilocal removed my initial review for lack of detail, so I hope this is good enough for them and they take this seriously. I was severely ill because of this restaurant.

Only a take out review FYI: Really decent sushi roll lunch. Both of my rolls(spicy cruchy tuna and spicy shrimp) were pretty yummy. Standard miso, not my favorite but good! I will definitely come back here for a quick lunch order, but wouldn’t seek out this restaurant for a nice sushi dinner.

I have never been to the restaurant. However, I have ordered take out via Seamless several times. I tried Sushi once before(somewhere else) and was not a fan. I immediately became a fan, after trying their California Rolls and my new Fav– Spicy Crunchy Tuna Roll. I was grossed out at first, at the thought of the raw fish. However, one huge bite and I was sold… I have never tried it without sauce. Let me explain; I like my sushi with pieces of Gari(ginger), Wasabi(I’m a new fan), Soy Sauce and Spicy Mustard. I put a tiny bit of all those toppings onto each roll and voila! — Sweet, Spicy, tasty heaven. My typical order is the Shrimp/Chicken Teriyaki Bento Bowl. Sometimes the chicken can be a bit dry. Sometimes the Shrimps lack that ‘seasoned’ taste(The Teriyaki sauce makes up for it though). However, I have never been disappointed in my Sushi(perhaps because I am a newb – Don’t judge me ;-). I recently tried their veggie dumplings(Shumai) and OHEMGEE… They’re so moist, chewy and tasty. Definitely have to add them to my favs. Sorry guys, haven’t tried anything else on the menu, nor did ever deal with the staff. My experience is solely based on my seamless experience and the food I have tried from them. Recommendations: –Shrimp Teriyaki Bento Bowl(With Dumplings or White Rice) –Chicken Teriyaki Bento Bowl(With Dumplings or White Rice) –Spicy Crunchy Tuna Rolls — Shumai [Veggie Dumplings](They’re mini)

NEVERAGAIN! YUCK!!! This place was advertised on seamless with 5 stars but I should have checked Unilocal because it was not good. Had delivery tempura udon. Most pieces the batter was so thick it was pastey in the middle and everything was over cooked and mushy. The udon itself was ok. Very bland. The delivery guy was so rude to me.

Good sushi! Nothing mindblowing, but solid food nonetheless. My Crystal Roll was definitely on the tasty side, though the crab wasn’t spicy as promised and there was only mild crunch and very unnoticeable eel — I didn’t even realize there was eel until I happened to read the description again. Radish oshinko was good and slightly sweet, while the red… beet? carrot? oh, Google tells me it’s called tekka — while the tekka was incredibly salty. Despite all the shortcomings I’m surprised I came up with, I have a fairly pleasant memory of it all. I’d order again.

Definitely didn’t expect the size of the lunch special that I received, but was definitely very satisfied with my order. I ordered the lunch special with two entrees and you’ll receive more than enough food. The size of the salmon terriyaki was bigger than most regular dinner entrees. The food was good and they delivered the food in the estimated time per seamless. For a quick japanese food option, this is the place to go. It’s definitely my new delivery place.
