Alex Shoe Repair

Alex Shoe Repair was helpful at first, but its employees failed to each other communicate effectively in order to pass along the specifics of my purchase, which was the addition of two rubber protective ‘cover soles’ to new leather soled shoes that I purchased for a conference. I was assured that they would be ready the morning of the first day of the conference at the latest, but when I showed up then to pick them up, the employees had no idea and had not touched my shoes since I dropped them off earlier that week. I appreciate that the two employees immediately went to work on the shoes and had them ready within the hour after I ran errands and came back, so I did not refuse to pay the full fee (something like $ 55) because the job required the rubber soles’ material in addition to the two employees’ hours of time. The soles have held on since, although I am skeptical about how well they were done because the employees were rushing and I know it’s not advisable to wear leather that has just recently been glued and expect it to hold up (which I had to do for the conference that day). Nevertheless, unless I find that this service costs more at most other venues, I likely won’t be trusting Alex Shoe Repair with any special jobs in the future.

Affordable and great quality. My dog chewed my brand new leather shoe. I thought it was beyond repair. Alex was able to fix it and make it look almost like new.

So I had a few pairs that need repairing and especially my worn down hole in the sole Tory burch flats. Brought 3 pairs in early 1 pair heels and one pair of booties and my TB flats.
The took a quick look and the heels and booties were fixed with new tips for 22 dollars total and my flats needed and extra day because they were work down pretty bad. They do same day pick up and is CASH ONLY. They also will take a deposit. But nontheless an amazing job on my flats.
My flats literally had a hole in both soles bc I wore them down so badly. They put on new leather soles and a tiny tiny gripped heel and they now look amazing. It was 50 dollars but sooooo worth it. This place is great. Will be taking my shoes back here if I have any other issues with them.

They do a great job! The pricing is quite fair. I’ve had a variety of things taken care of here over the years: 13 year old snow boots that were very badly damaged, heel tips for dress boots, and the zipper on my laptop backpack replaced. Most recently I needed my No.6 clog boots resoled and I was nervous since they are by far my most expensive shoes. They did a fantastic job. I should have brought them in earlier so the wooden part didn’t get damaged. The new rubber soles and waterproof/​polish cost $ 35.
Definitely remember your ticket! Their storage system is not very standardized and if you don’t have your ticket it could take 20 minutes for your item to be located. The man and his children speak English and Spanish but his wife only speaks Spanish.
I really love supporting local businesses. It makes me happy that such a high quality place is doing well in Inwood.

My favorite boots: a small story.
They were salt and water damaged. The zippers were ripping out. The bottoms were wearing thin BUT they are my favorite boots – everyone knows that means they stay in the closet in the hopes that one day, they’ll go back on my feet. That day was today AFTER I turned them over to the talented staff at this place. The price seemed steep until I learned that he would be taking the original zippers out and replacing them with shiny new ones. They came back clean and as good as new. Long story short, he’s worth every penny. Take your tired shoes to him pronto and prepare to be wowed.

Great shoe/​boot repair place. Super fast and very professional work. I took in men’s platform 5″ chunk heels and they had no problem replacing the rubber heel tips or fixing other normal wear issues. $ 30 for a few repairs, and my $ 400 boots are good as new!

Small family owned shoe repair shop which does nice job. The prices for heel restorations are varied depending on what kind of shoes you would like to repair. But a pair of boots for $ 10 and pumps are a bit less, I must say, they have reasonable pricing.
As for the shoe repair itself, they do quite good job. I often run into shor repair shops when my heels are really damaged and the llast time here, I brought sandals with heels deeply scratched and rubber parts completely removed. But they totally fixed the rubber sole and managed to fix/​cover the scratched heel stems as well!
Be aware, they are closed on Sundays!!!
