Allan’s Afterschool

While I was a student in PS.41 years and years and years ago I went to Allan’s after school and it was the best environment and experience anyone could ask for in an after school program. Allan himself (not sure if he’s still there) would walk is all from PS.41 to the after school and even allowed us to purchase a few snacks. Always made sure we were safe and cared for. Love love loveeeee this place

I honestly don’t even know what we’d do without this place. My family is completely and utterly DEPENDENT on them and I’m just SO thankful that they’re here. Every other afterschool program associated with PS41 has pickup time at something like 4:30 or 5 and some are only available on certain days. That’s fine for afterschool entertainment but we work fulltimr so we need consistent reliable childcare too — one that doesn’t end well before the work day does.
I also love this place because when all the other afterschool programs cancel across the board at the first sign of a snow flurry, Allan’s stay open. They also do fun all-​day field trips on the millions of school holidays and vacation days the kids have off — days that parents invariably have to work.
Another thing that really means a lot to us how easy they are to get hold of and make requests or shift arrangements. It feels very personal, not at all like the corporate vibe I’ve gotten elsewhere. I never feel like I’m left in the lurch or being ignored.
But the VERY VERY VERY BEST PART of Allan’s Afterschool is that my kids love being able to just hang out and play with their friends doing crafts, building a fort, acting out movies, playing with favorite toys they brought from home, or just playing games (physical games and board games.) They’re able to get active, be social, and let off steam from the school day before we pick them up. In fact, they often DON’T WANT TO LEAVE!!!
