Angelo’s Shoe Restorer’s

Angelo’s recently repaired several pairs of my boots (Frye, Sartore, Rag & Bone, Helmut Lang, Manolo) and pumps including a pair of Louboutins. Not only did they do an outstanding job on the workmanship, but they delivered everything much earlier than expected. Their customer service and communication were truly top notch, and I don’t dole out that kind of praise lightly.
In addition to the shoes, they also repaired the handle and inside lining of a Prada handbag for me. Within a day, they had contacted Prada and found a leather that was extremely close to matching the bag, and sent me a picture for my approval. The repair is imperceptible.
Couldn’t be happier with their work and quality of service. I highly recommend them and will remain a loyal customer myself.

I was recommended Angelo’s by a Saks SA. I mailed them a pair of Louboutins which had a nicked heel. They don’t stock the rare color so I decided to at least have them apply a vibram sole protector while they had them. Their work is very sloppy. In the process, they must have slipped? — TWICE — and gouged two scrapes in the outside of the platform. I’m guessing it was during the removal of the sole? I felt badly only sending them a pair of shoes in which they were unable to repair and having them just send them back to me. I wanted to give them the business /​benefit of the doubt and make some money off of me. And that’s how they repaid me. By damaging my shoes. That’s completely unacceptable. I would never patronize this establishment and would encourage others to beware.

I had to get my loafers re-​soled for the second time. The first time I had them done by a reputable place in Gramercy Park, but they did an awful job and left the tip of the sole protruding by a centimetre. They looked terrible! I have to credit Angelo’s: the guys did a perfect, fastidious job of re-​soling the shoes. Service isn’t cheap– $ 75, but I can’t stress enough how perfectly done my shoes are. And customer service was wonderful and polite.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE DO NOT patronize this business called Angelo’s Shoe repair.
If you want to bring your brand new Louboutins, Valentinos or other shoes to get bottoms done such as adding the protective sole, you are at risk of them messing up your shoes! This happened twice to me! The shoe workers are careless. They messed up the red bottoms of the Louboutins by nicking it with a razor. I raised it as an issue but they kept denying it.
The people there are rude and condescending!
If you feel this is not true, you have the freedom to try yourself but you are taking the risk of them messing up your expensive shoes. NEVER will i ever go back. Proceed with caution!

Being a New Yorker I am super SUPER hard on my shoes, to the point where it is almost evil. Long ago I bought the most beautiful pair of DIOR HOMME gold leather Cuban heel boots, I’m talking during the golden years of Dior HOMME, when Hedi Slimane was in charge. Throughout the years I have destroyed these boots to the point that I wore holes on the soles and the leather was so thrashed. They were worn so badly that for the past few years I didn’t even wear them. Recently I got a job where I had to where these boots and so I took them to Angelo’s in hope that something could be done. Well, a week later I received my boots back to discover that these guys are TRULY MAGICIANS. The boots are as beautiful as they day that I bought them. I was almost moved to tears when I saw what wonderful work they did on these babies. I am eternally grateful. Ps, it was even affordable!

Very impressed by the work I had done at Angelo’s. I had a pair of pointed toe booties that needed to be re-​heeled. The fronts had also been scuffed from a year of wear and tear. Angelo’s restored them back to mint condition. It took a week to turn them around.

The people who do actual work on the shoes are fantastic. The owner? Not so much. I went in to inquire about a situation with my shoes and he quickly dismissed me, saying they wouldn’t be able to. My situation was very basic and minor, and knowing so I dismissed him back and spoke to the real shoe repair guys (the ones who actually work on the shoe in the back of the store). They told me of course they would be able to fix it.
The business should be ran by the working hands, not the ignorant douche in the yamaka.

I’ve been going to Angelo’s for the past 10 years and have to say I have been very pleased with their work. Even though they’re pricey, it’s worth every dollar! I’m a person who is very picky about my shoes especially the expensive ones. So even though I might go to other shoe repairs to get some minor work done, when it comes to my expensive shoes I only go to Angelos. Especially when it comes to red bottoms, they do an amazing job! I would definitely recommend them for your expensive shoes!

Like another reviewer — the repair department at Bergdorf’s referred me to Angelo’s for designer purse cleaning. Angelo’s has a spacious location, and everyone was friendly enough. However, I cannot recommend them for purse cleaning. They charged me $ 135 to «clean» my GM sized Louis Vuitton damier azur canvas bag (inside and out). Although they only took 1 week and did a decent job at cleaning the inner lining, the outside of the bag looked exactly the same as it did when I dropped it off. I even had to ask the gentleman at the counter whether they cleaned the outside — and his reply was simply «yes». After I took the bag home, I rubbed several Q-​tips on the canvas — and, as suspected, I picked up a ton of dirt! Perhaps they did wipe the canvas down, but it was not detailed and the canvas did not appear any cleaner.
I should also mention, when I picked up my bag I noticed that they had it hanging off of their equipment in the back. It was gaping open and hanging by one handle. This led me to believe that (i) perhaps they were not really done with cleaning the bag at the time I picked it up and (ii) they did not handle my bag with care in the process.
Needless to say, I was sorely disappointed that I had paid so much for this «cleaning».

It’s getting cold, so it’s boot season once more!
Just got two pairs of heavily damaged boots resoled for a total of $ 100 bucks. I LOVE these boots and wore them into the ground. Both were fixed quickly and look great, like new — extremely thorough work! Definitely saved me the hassle and cost of shopping for new boots for the fall/​winter. I’ve had boots repaired for lower cost elsewhere, but they have never turned out right. I’ll definitely bring future repairs to Angelo’s.

From a former regular with a 125+ pair shoe problem: not worth it. Had the same experience as reviewer from 4÷10÷13 — told them exactly what I wanted and returned a week later to something completely different. I’m not being an entitled douche, either — we genially agreed that the black sole was what I’d get when I dropped them off, even looking at black sole samples, and picked them up to see TAN soles applied. And even the guy I usually talk to at the front desk remembered, and knew they’d fucked up. Then they tried to convince me that tan was better. Ignored the instructions, caused unrelated damage that needed to be fixed on the spot, and wouldn’t even offer $ 1 off.
Angelo’s lost a loyal customer today.

I’ve used Angelo’s twice – the first time was two years ago to repair a beat up pair of Frye boots that another shoe repair place did a lazy job on, and recently to fix the strap of an old Coach handbag. The boots are still in good shape.
Since the purse belonged to my grandmother, I wanted to make sure it would be handled with care. I stopped by to speak with someone behind the counter and showed him a photo of the broken bag – the strap broke and was no longer connected to the body of the bag. I was quoted $ 35 and I brought the bag in the next day, a Tuesday. I paid in full since I only had a credit card, and was told to call on Friday about the status.
When I called to follow up I was told it would be ready after 5 pm that Friday, and sure enough it was, no issues there. The color isn’t a perfect match but the bag is old and you really can’t tell unless you look very close. I showed the bag to a friend and she couldn’t tell that it had been repaired. This location is super convenient since this is my subway stop for work. The service is polite. I’m very pleased with the job they did on both of my items, and I recommend them to anyone who needs to take an item in for some work. I’m so glad they saved my Nana’s bag!

Stay away.
Aside from this man ruining a pair of shoes, his arrogance is beyond understanding.
He was told exactly what had to be done with the shoes and ignored the instructions.
If stars were turds, I would give him 5!

Worst Experience ever! Do not take anything to Angelo’s if you wish to use it after you get it back!!! They completely ruined my Chanel flats and basically told me that if I wanted them to replace the shoes I could take them to court.
I brought a pair of black suede Chanel flats to them which had a silver speckle on the shoe with a solid black toe. When I dropped them off, I asked for them to put rubber on the bottom of the shoe and the person who took them specifically wrote on the ticket not to touch the suede so that the silver would remain in tact. They ignored the instructions and brushed off everything to leave me with a shoe which was completely different from what I had brought to them. They insisted they could fix the shoes and used silver spray paint which looked nothing like the original thing. They looked awful and cheap once they were covered in spray paint. After all was said and done, they were willing to offer me NOTHING to make it right short of insisting I take them to court. Dealing with them was a nightmare!
Needless to say, I would never go back again and would strongly discourage anyone from taking anything of any value to Angelo’s unless you are willing to throw it away!!! If I could give zero stars to Angelo’s, I would!

Updating this review:
The patch job fell apart after a month or so, and the sole separated from the shoe.

Angelo’s SAVED a couple pairs of shoes for us. I had a pair of boots that needed to be completely resoled and they put in a great rubber platform! My partner had some leather shoes that have enjoyed a few extra years of life and $aved him greatly. The guy who helped us was very kind, and they did a quality job. Would recommend to others and will certainly be back again when I have more pairs that need rescuing!

I ordered a new briefcase off Amazon that was making a weird squeaky noise when I walked (the way the metal was rubbing the handle). I went to this place since it is on the way to work and I was hoping this would be a quick fix on the spot. The guy tells me to drop it off so he can take a look at it, give me a call later in the day, and let me know what needs to be done.
Monday AM — drop off briefcase
Tuesday PM — I call them because they never called me back. He says he will call me Wednesday before lunch.
Thursday AM — I still haven’t heard from them, so I just go there and pick up my briefcase, so I can go somewhere else.

Was recommended by Bergdorf’s to come here for my Jimmy’s.
Only one sandal was supposed to fixed but when I went to pick up my shoes both of them were touched… I appreciate the thought but there wasn’t a need.
Thank goodness I gave my shoes in a box cuz all the shoes waiting to be repaired or picked up was each in a plastic bag stuffed in shelves with the other shoes –waiting to be scratched… literally–
But it ticked me off because they did a crappy job. I only went there because, Bergdorf’s VOUCHED for them.
1. There was glue visible on my white sandal’s and the guy had the nerve to say it was old and there before.
2. The side of the wedge top had a visible bubble protruding –that can not be fixed.
ok FIRST of all I am sadly anal for detail when it comes to expensive items or items that I really really love. I will scrutinize it from every angel to make sure it’s perfect. SOOOO if he wants to claim that it was «old glue» then it wasn’t originally in an area where it could be visible in the first place. Also, how could the «old glue» come off with a couple of dabbs?
SECOND of all…, WTH?! you can clearly see that the protrusion should not be there by comparing it to the other (the one which there was no issue at all and I exclaimed to them to not touch that one) sandal’s smooth side.
No, I did not b*tch at them even though they rightly deserved it for ruining my $ 700 Jimmy Choo shoes –I was too dumbfounded.
~~AND the spanish employees in the back talking about their customers in a derogative/​disgusting manner thinking that I don’t know what they’re saying because I’m not spanish is just completely rude and unprofessional.~~

I love Angelo’s! It’s true, their prices are a bit high and can be a little inconsistent. I go to Jimmy’s usually (on 59^th near Madison) for small things/​small shoes, but I only take my boots to Angelo’s. My boot heels were $ 20 at Angelo’s where they might be $ 10 or $ 12 somewhere else, but my boots come back looking almost new! They cleaned and shined and buffed and polished, and even the parts where the leather had gotten scratched off look almost new again. I brought a pair of suede boots once and they came back with weatherproofing spray (that actually worked). I’ve had too many bad experiences with other shoe places (one in Tribeca polished my weathered gray leather boots with navy polish and ruined them!), so if there’s anything special about the shoe or the order, I come here. It does cost more but sometimes it’s worth it! They’re faster than my cheaper places as well.
It was a little hard to find at first; you go into the subway station at 53^rd and 5^th and it’s just down the hall, I think the second store on the left.

Since their service was great the last time I was there, I decided to come in again, with another pair of boots. I wanted to preserve my boots for a longer time so added rubber soles to the bottoms.
I waited about 10 minutes and then my boots were done. I inspected them and the soles looked great. I don’t know how they charge, but this time around the soles cost me $ 30.
Service is always friendly and efficient. No matter how much foot traffic they get (which is a lot), I never feel like the people there are rushing which makes me trust them even more with my goods.
