I’m sorry to say this, and I really had every intention of loving this place, but it was an utter disappointment! The baked goods were not fresh and tasted as if they were still half-frozen. The displays always looked great whenever I passed by, but the quality was bad! I also asked if I could use the bathroom, and assuming, as a customer who just spend over $ 20, this would be a given, but I was told a straight no; no exceptions. The place is very small and even though there are only 3,4 tables, not giving bathroom access to your customers is unacceptable, in my opinion.

Looks straight out of the 70sand the treats are similarly dated to a certain era. … But their strawberry shortcake is something I dream about and treat myself to.

Really good pastries and coffee. Very friendly service. I read some reviews and people complain about the prices, it’s a lot cheaper than Starbucks that’s for sure.

I enjoy coming to annelieses… they have great rugelahs and cookies. I have had their butternut squash soup & a chowder(i forget which one) they were both hearty & tasty. The bread they give u with soup os bomb. I like their hot spiced chai latte, and i get it regularly. I had the iced version once and it was a bit too sweet with all the powder mix settled at the bottom. Its a small, quaint place. Only 3 – 4 tables. Service is courteous & friendly. I recommend for the soups & cookies.

Anneliese’s is the BEST! My favorite coffee in the city, and Franz is the absolute nicest guy. A couple of weeks ago I was throwing my brother a surprise birthday party and forgot to order a cake. With less than 24 hours notice, Franz and the gang saved the day and hooked me up with a DELICIOUS strawberry shortcake. Anneliese’s is a neighborhood gem!

The chai latte is not a thrill. Apple turnover is all right. When I was there, the owner shouted at her employee in front of clients. It’s not a welcoming place.

The best coffee I’ve tasted in NYC. The menu is superb with everything made on premise and using only the finest organic ingredients; Anneliese will not stand for anything but the best. Franz(at the counter) is a neighborhood favorite, brighten your day with a smile and kind words. Anything you try here will be a delight.

Good prices and a good variety of food. My mom and I eat halal and this place offered a good selection of vegetarian foods. Beware — no bathroom.

Their rainbow cookies are pretty good… when they aren’t stale and dried out. On two occasions, they have given me dry, old cookies — and at $ 25/lb(approx $ 1 per cookie) that is not acceptable. The last time it happened I decided to go back and tell the owner. She inspected the leftover cookies and said that they seem«soft, almost too soft» which was doubtful since they crumbled apart in her hand when she prodded them. Maybe she didn’t want to lose face in front of other customers. She did let me get something else in return; linzer cookies which were decent. But with prices that high, I don’t want to have to worry about stale food that seems like it had been left out for a few days. Will not be returning. Sorry, not sorry.

One of my neighborhood favorites. Everything sold is absolutely fresh. The strawberry short cake isirrestible. The help is very courteous and friendly and it is a pleasure to sit down at a painted wooden table and munch on a cheese danish and coffee in a quiet environment.

Worst of the worst !!! The pastries that are not sold are kept in the window fridge and hidden behind a piece of cardboard at night. I asked when the pastries were baked the girl stammered and stuttered and said they are all fresh. I said I didn’t ask if they are fresh I asked when they were baked. She wouldn’t answer. I asked a 2nd and third time, then she said they are all fresh and baked every day… Hmmm. I’ve tried a few times and it’s very hit or miss, not consistently fresh baked goods and they are WAY over priced. Surprised they’ve been in business so long… So! So long Anneliese.

This is one of our favorite neighborhood spots. The staff is awesome, incredibly friendly and chill. The coffee is great and so are the pastries. They have great empanadas, quiches, and by far, some of the best chocolate chip cookies I’ve ever had. There is a very small seating area. I prefer sitting here with my computer here than at a busy, trendy Starbucks. This has real appeal, is always quiet. They will even bring the food to your table when it’s ready. If you are in the neighborhood, I definitely recommend going to Anneliese’s. Get their iced mocha coffee or iced hazelnut coffee.

Cute, small locally owned bakery. The coffee is pretty typical to that of normal coffee shops, but the pastries are phenomenal! Their scones are some of the best I have tried in the city.

5 stars isn’t enough for this gem. This is my first review in NYC, and it was perfection. I popped in this morning at 8:30 and it was empty(I don’t know if that’s usually a busy time in NYC, but in Dallas it’s prime time rush hour«coffee hell» — you can’t get within 2 blocks of a Starbucks.) The guy behind the counter couldn’t have been nicer or more helpful. I usually load up my coffee with syrup and flavored cream because I want the caffeine fix but don’t actually *like* the taste of coffee. They don’t have syrup there, and now I’m pretty sure that’s a big coffee faux paus in NYC, but you would have never known it from how nice this guy was. Anyway, turns out I DO like the taste of coffee when it’s not crap. The vanilla bean roast was heaven(although I do admit to adding some milk.) Now the pastry — omg, the pastry. After 10 minutes of drooling at the case, I couldn’t narrow it down to one so I chose a Granny Smith apple turnover and a plum square. Can’t comment on the plum square yet, but the turnover? Let’s just say I need to pace myself here or I’m going to have to double up on the kickboxing classes. Perfect pastry, *just* the right amounts of cinnamon and sugar to give it the proper sweetness, and every bite was full of apple slices. I will say at first glance I thought the pastry was a little high $(especially compared to the coffee, which was less than half of what I pay at SB back home) — but for the size and amazing quality, it’s a bargain. The only question I have left about Anneliese’s is what kind of empanada I’m getting for lunch.

The pastries are all dry and they leave them in the case overnight, so they are not fresh. BEFOREWARNED! When you make a purchase, they ask you if it’s to stay or go, as they charge EXTRA if you choose to sit down. Items are overpriced to begin with. There’s a much better option across the street at Agata and Valentina where everything is delicious and fresh.

Passed the cheese danish and apple turnover tests with flying colors. Apple turnover was not the best I’ve ever had, but still quite good. Chocolate chip cookie was outstanding. It looks like their other offerings are just as good, especially the empanadas. I’ll be back for sure.
