Antibes Bistro

Nice live music while we dined. Dinner was good, and service was very nice. Excellent grilled Octopus, and very good short ribs. Nice little wine selection. All in all will head back if I am in the neighborhood

What a gem! We tried 3 of the appetizers, 2 of the desserts, and 1 of the cocktails and all were excellent! My favorite was the duck pâté and panna cotta. But you can’t go wrong here!

Came here with a group of 9 people for a birthday brunch and was able to get a table which is great, but there are things they can do to improve the experience. The other good thing is that the bloody mary was pretty stiff…
Now for the potential improvement part —
1.) The burger was overcooked and came with 2 potato wedges (literally 2)
2.) I handed the waiter a water bottle so he could refill it but never brought it back
3.) The gelato I had was really grainy
4.) The music was a bit on the loud side
5.) It was cold outside, but it was really hot inside with too much heating
6.) Overall the dishes are really small and not filling. We all went for some Chinatown 4 for $ 1 dumplings afterwards…
Maybe it is different when it isn’t brunch but then again, maybe not…

We just discovered this place off the street while searching for somewhere decent to have brunch! The place we had planned to go was closed!
The décor is very cool with an eclectic, vintage feel!
We were provided with water in a vintage glass mile bottle which was cool but the water could have been colder.
We ordered the smoked fish to start between us & it was nice, small but nice.
We both had the fresh linguine & to be honest it wasn’t great, it was just tasteless. Maybe we didn’t pick the best item on the menu, other tables food looked good.

Not crowded at all for a Friday night, surprisingly. It is a cute and fuzzy restaurant and I was a little sad that they only do live Jazz on Tue&Wed.
The menu wasn’t so satisfying, the mains look kinda weird so we only ordered appetizers: asparagus, grilled octopus, and grilled shrimps. They weren’t bad but they were amazing. The octopus was a little overcooked/​burned. Service was alright, the bread&butter before food were cold and looked really cheap…
I liked my drink a lot-​The Antibes: gin, st. Germain, and champagne! Not so sweet but has the kick.
I would recommend coming for either brunch or live jazz nights to compliment the food.

I ordered the smoked fish plate for an appetizer and seared tuna for an entrée. The smoked fish plate was very good and VERY reasonably priced. The seared tuna, on the other hand…
Okay, so full disclosure: I’m black (I mention this because I saw another review in which some customers of color felt like their treatment could have been racially motivated), and I came to this restaurant with a group of white people.
When I ordered the seared tuna, I was warned, multiple times, that it would be pink in the middle because it would only be seared. I said, multiple times, that this was fine, and I thanked our server. I couldn’t tell whether or not I was the only one at the table who ordered seared tuna, but I know for a fact that no one else was warned about anything that they ordered.
Now, after viewing pictures of the seared tuna plate on Unilocal,I know they overcooked my tuna on purpose. Don’t get me wrong — despite all this, the tuna was very, VERY good — but it was overcooked against my wishes. If I hadn’t been absolutely starving by the time I got my entrée, I would have sent it back.
Minus two stars for the tuna because I don’t want to let these people off easy. They WARNED me, and then decided that I didn’t know what I want. If the food hadn’t still been mouthwatering, I would penalize them more harshly.

A solid 4 stars.
–Relatively small spot, but very cute for a quiet, low-​key date night
–Drinks were okay, but took kind of a long time to make (we waited about 10 mins for our drinks after we ordered them)
–My boyfriend and I shared the grilled octopus appetizer, but turns out it’s barely enough for 1 person! It was a small piece of octopus, and not worth 11 bucks in my book
–I got the Guinness Braised Short Ribs ($ 21) — oh man, it was absolutely heavenly. The potato gratin was cooked to perfection and the short ribs were so juicy and flavorful — love, love love!
–My boyfriend got the Seared NY Strip ($ 22), and wasn’t too content with his dish. But then again, who goes to french restaurant to eat steak? Sorry buddy, but that’s totally on you!
Prices are very fair, especially for a French place. Overall, it’s worth checking out and I definitely intend to come here again!

We waited literally 90 minutes from the time we ordered until we got our food. The servers, hosts, and a manager kept telling us that the restaurant was really busy and that’s why the food was taking so long. But service still didn’t improve after we were one of the last tables in the place. When we did receive our food, it was cold. We were so late for our after-​dinner plans that we just scarfed the food, which was nothing to write home about. We were comped dessert and, who am I to complain about free dessert, but it wasn’t to our taste. It would have been nice if they’d actually asked what kind of dessert we would have enjoyed before bringing us something we couldn’t eat. Overall a disappointing experience after the Unilocal reviews gave me high expectations.

Nice atmosphere and the food was good. The drinks are meh. :) Like everyone has said before, the bread is staleish. Overall I recommend going on the nights they have jazz playing.

This was on my bookmarks list but I was pretty dissapointed with the food that was ordered. Service and ambiance was great, especially with the live band. Had the duck Pâté for appetizer along with the cheese board and octopus. I must say the octopus was good. Now, I ordered the NY strip steak and when it was presented to me it tasted and looked like short ribs so I was confused. The potatoes that came with the dish had cheese in it and to me it was a bit too much on one plate. My friend had the seared tuna which was great along with the chicken. All in all, I had better French food elsewhere in the city. I probably will not be coming back but if I were to, I would get something else on the menu.

Visited Antibes for a friend’s birthday and was a little unimpressed with a few things. With the exception of the ambiance and steak dinner, the food was underwhelming and the service was so-​so.
We were a large party and the place is small so we were cramped into a small space which made it difficult for waitstaff to get through at times.
I started with the octopus which my friends who ordered the same agreed was very overcooked. I tried some of my friend’s shrimp was alright and I hear the duck pâté was the better choice.
Most of us ordered steak which was good and served with garlic butter.
My friends and I tasted both the halva dessert and bread pudding. I preferred the bread pudding, but both were alright.

Great atmosphere if you love that Brooklyn enchanting ambience. Then the garlic crusted Salmon was delightful. I actually cleaned my plate and that probably because of the blended olives that complemented the food. Awesome!
Would definitely come here for an intimate date. The jazz music is inviting and it was not live, although they have that on a weekday.
Lastly, service was very good. Attentive but not annoying. The bar is too cool and they know how to serve a dish.

This one-​star review was almost a five-​star review, before my date and I were asked to give up our table and finish our meal at the bar. We had decided to have an early dinner at 6pm because we didn’t want to face the Saturday night rush. We thoroughly enjoyed our food and cocktails, the servers were charming, and the background music was perfect. We were in a fantastic mood, which totally made me not care that the bread pudding was a little on the bland side. Then, just as we were in mid-​contemplation of an after-​dinner walk towards the moon, the person who seats people came to ask us to move to the bar. A few minutes earlier she had asked to take our dessert plate when there was still two bites of it left on it, which seemed a bit off. The restaurant was not full, but she explained to us that there was a family of four waiting for our table, and apparently their children were cranky (understandably as it was after dark and they had likely been doing the tourist thing all day, and let’s face it, if they really wanted the New York experience they should have gotten their kids a slice and tucked them into bed and then gone out to a grown up dinner alone). It was jarring and anticlimactic to move the last few minutes of a really relaxing and intimate evening to the bar, but I agreed, as I had been in an exceptionally agreeable mood. When the bartender asked us how we were doing, I replied honestly, saying that up until that moment, we had been having a really lovely time, and that while he seemed very nice, he did ask, so I felt compelled to let him know that I wasn’t at all down with the idea that a decision had been made to displace a same-​gender, mixed-​race couple in favor of an upper class white heteronormative family of four. I then realized it would make more sense to communicate my thoughts directly to the person who moved us, so I did diplomatically as is my preferred style of communication. She responded defensively that she hadn’t had any of those thoughts at all (though I guarantee you she will going forward) and it wasn’t her intention to offend (she hopefully now realizes it’s not the intention but the results of actions that matter most), but that we had been sitting there for two hours, dot dot dot. I explained to her that perhaps in the future she might let people know at the outset if their table has an expiration in order to avoid such slights. And this review would have been a four-​star instead of one if she would have simply replied, «I’m sorry, my mistake,» and then grumbled to her coworkers out of earshot what an asshole I was.
tl;dr: The food and ambiance were great, but there are too many other fantastic places within a stone’s throw to bother going back somewhere that didn’t treat me as deserving of the best possible dining experience as the type of patrons they seem to prefer.

I went last night with Isabell R. who wrote the review below and I can say that I am agreed with what she said. The service was mediocre. One of the waiter was nice but not attentive with our table. Didn’t feel welcome.
Food was not incredible. I felt that the $ 17.89 meal was nothing but some stupid marketing to make people come. The night before I went to the restaurant Lucien. Even though I paid much more the taste was there. The bread and butter they give you was so so. I was just a little bit disappointed.
However, the 3 stars I’m giving you are for the atmosphere. The place is cute and I like that it is the only restaurant on this street. We arrived at 9pm. It was dark outside but you could see the little lights from Delancey street.
Not sure I will give them another chance… too bad.

A wonderful date spot, this place offers a cozy romantic atmosphere along with delicious food and wine. I loved that when I came for dinner one night during the weekday, it was not crowded at all – providing a very intimate dinner setting. My date and I enjoyed a leisurely night of food, wine, and conversation.
My highlight of the food I think would be the foie gras and chicken.

Came here on a whim before a birthday party. Really lovely atmosphere, I actually felt like I was in a Parisian café.
The food was tasty and they randomly have really really great iced tea.
The service was slow and our waitress was just meh and we were right by the door and saw a couple come in, sit outside and then no one came to help them so they left.
I would definitely go back, sit inside and hang out (fingers crossed we don’t have the same waitress again).

Love the happy hour (Sun-​Thu 5−7pm) — half price glasses of wine, beer, and cocktails — with very generous pours on the wine!
I would definitely come back for wine and the seared foie gras. The broiled trout was also very good — crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside.
Skip the risotto and the steak. The steak was super chewy, and the risotto was watery and a little bland.
The staff is very pleasant, but it can be hard to get their attention at times. The live jazz didn’t really do anything for me. If anything, I would prefer not to have it because it got a little too loud at times and we couldn’t hear each other.
The restaurant isn’t TINY, just a bit cozy. I wouldn’t come with a group larger than 6. The prices are also pretty on point for the quality and size of the dishes.

Antibes is a small little bistro in LES. Came here for a dinner on a Saturday night with friends. I have to say, even though the dining room was PACKED, the noise level was not obtrusive and I didn’t have to shout. The food was also pretty good, enjoyed everything that I tried. Only one small issue foodwise, was the Merguez. While it tasted great, the presentation made it look like something you wouldn’t want to eat. I will spare you the details on exactly what it looked like, so just use your imagination ;) I also ordered a bourbon based cocktail from their cocktail menu, which was just okay.
Overall, the service, ambiance, and food were all great. Would come back again, great for a low key dinner/​date.

Es un lugar pequeño para encontrar mesa debes tener reservación o bien llegar temprano. Es un poco complicado hablar por lo que debes subir el tono de voz para que te puedan escuchar los demás. Si tienes hambre te recomiendo pedir entrada, plato fuerte y postre. Los platos son de buen tamaño y sobretodo bien hechos las costillas son deliciosas.

I first knew of this place on Thanksgiving 2013 and it has been my favorite French restaurant so far. The pre fixe menu for thanksgiving was amazing, the food was delicious. However, my friends and I did not like the service. We ordered 3 pre fixe meals and a bottle of wine, food came out 20 mins after we ordered.
I always took my good friends from different states or countries here for lunch or dinner. My friends and I have tried almost everything on the regular menu and special menus. They LOVED it there.
Seafood dishes are on point. Steak is fulfilling. Duck is strangely good.
Their appetizers and desserts outshine their entrée. I love love love all the desserts I have tried.
They also have good coffee and tea.
Good jazz and warm atmosphere.
