Used to be a regular and it just isn’t the same spot — very disappointing. We didn’t feel welcomed ATALL as regular patrons. Service is sub par, food takes forever and it isn’t the same Asia Roma we all fell in love with years ago.

Went here for a bite to eat near our hotel in Chinatown and the service was not good. We walked by and saw they had happy hour and we were they only ones in the restaurant which should have been our sign to leave. Our food took a very long time and it was difficult to understand because we were the only ones there. Also didn’t understand how they didn’t have any dumplings without shellfish. They only had a pork&shrimp dumpling and when I asked if they had just pork they said no. Very limiting to their customers with such a popular food. Also our waiter had friends who were at the bar and was paying more attention to them then us the paying customers. But when we finally got the food it was tasty and delicious but the wait was very long. Not worth it.

Decent prices and food. Area downstairs has karaōke and is great for parties.

Used to be a regular here and usually come here for drinks, so it’s been a while. But when we tried to do a party here the other night(thought we’d give them some business), it was simply awful. Service was the worst, they kept messing up the food order not once, but twice and don’t know how many times we asked for the check before it finally came. It was just bad, bad, bad. Soooo disappointed. Which is why it’ll be another while before I come back, if at all.

The service was terrible. They forgot one order and undercooked an order not once but twice. Other dishes came cold. The place was super loud. I don’t recommend this place at all.

Amazing karaōke! Nicest staff… Danny the bartender is amazing and the Karaōke Master… Killer, not only has a beautiful voice, but is the cat’s pijamas. So lovely!

Love this place! Mei is a wonderful chef and owner. Had a lot of great memories here. Plus, Time Out NY placed it on TOP10 list of Chinatown bars!

Its empty in here, but the food is great. The garlic bread is the best ever. The one item I always go back for and would go weekly at one point is the clams. On Tuesdays its happy hour and they are $ 1 each. The best pasta there is the alferado

Definitely a cool place to check out after going somewhere else to drink first. My coworkers and I always end up here belting out songs. Terribly I might add, but it’s always a lot of fun. We usually take up two tables. It’s $ 1 per song and they usually have more current songs as well. I’ve never eaten here but the drinks are usually not a problem

Came here for Halloween and had a blast. The ground floor has a full bar and tables, the drink specials are super cheap(5 $ for a house mixed drink, and many beers under 5 $) and the bar tenders were awesome. Downstairs there is 1 $ karaōke, and a bar runner/waiter to keep the drinks flowing. Great place to get together with friends and just let the fun flow. We didn’t eat here though, so I cant speak to the quality of the food.

Overall its a really nice spacious and quiet atmosphere though fairly dark. The karaōke section in the basement is often booked by parties but when those parties are gone around 11p, the room becomes vacant and thats where the fun begins. When kareoke-ing however, make sure you’re spending $ 15 per person which can include food/drink thats the unwritten/unspoken rule and of course have $ 1 per song ready. Fried Calamari, Fries and Chicken wings are always favorites and they often have weekly specials with pasta dishes and fried rice.

Came here for dinner and the clams again and there was a special so it was only a dollar for raw clams and oysters… wasn’t as big as the other times I came back but still tasted good. Nice relaxing atmosphere. wasn’t packed for a Wednesday night so was able to request songs to listen to. Would come here again

Excellent happy hour with $ 1 appetizers! Nice mood, nothing fancy but nothing divey either. The bar staff makes great drinks and all types and ethnicities are warmly welcomed!!!

Can’t say anything about the food but happy hour drinks are fairly good in price. Personally, I like the spot for meeting up with friends in the area to chat.

This is more of a 2.5, but I rounded up because their oysters are humongous. Came here last night for the first time with the boyfriend after passing by their«$ 10 Thursday Pasta Night» special. The menu looked decent, so we thought we’d give it a try. The rundown: 1) Penne a la Vodka $ 10 — Meh. 2) Pasta with Garlic & Oil $ 7– Tiny portion, but alright 3) Glass of Merlot $ 5– Watered down, pretty terrible.(But what do you expect for $ 5 amirite?) 4) ½ dozen oysters $ 8– These were the largest oysters I’ve ever seen. Definitely worth the price tag, and they tasted pretty great too. One thing to note was that the service is extremely slow. Granted, only one waitress was working last night, but it took forever to get anything. Our food took almost 40 minutes to arrive, and our oysters came even later. I can see what Asia Roma is going for– an Italian escape in the heart of Chinatown. However, they have a lot to work on if they expect to stay in business, especially because their price point is so much higher than everything else in the nabe. Am I upset that I came here? No– It was a perfectly mediocre experience for a $ 30ish price tag. Would I come back? Probably not– little italy is only a few blocks away with better food and restaurants around it are much cheaper.

I’ve been here a few times. Mostly with groups of people to karaōke downstairs. It’s fun drinking tsing tao and belting out a good song. The thing that makes it fun or not fun is the other people/groups in the room. Last night there was a very drink group who hogged the stage. We tried submitting songs for $ 1 a pop but they would inevitably be sung by someone else. Guy with a flower in his hair apparently took charge of his group and didn’t share the venue.(Not to mention he snuck a cigarette… gross in a basement with no ventilation). We ended up hanging out at the bar upstairs instead. The bartender made my friend a really great lychee martini! One of the best I’ve tasted and friend was happy. We ordered fried dumplings and wings which were edible but not great. I’ll go back here for karaōke again because it doesn’t get super crowded, but again, it’s a people dependent experience.

A long time ago, this was my favorite karaōke venue in the city. Then it all went downhill. They had everything I could ever want in a karaōke spot. A vibrant restaurant /bar upstairs and a basement level karaōke spot where folks could sing their hearts out. During their initial days, folks were free to go down and sing casually without hassle. They had a bit of an unorthodox setup: antiquated equipment with shoddy speakers, wireless and wired mics, but an up to date karaōke selection, courtesy of KaroakeChamp. On occasion, they would have a person downstairs handling the songs and taking requests for a $ 1. A lot of times, there was no one there, so it ended up just being a free for all in loading music. Couple that with their midweek $ 5 cocktail happy hours and interesting Asian-Italian menu and life was solid. Slowly but surely, the service started to take a major dive. Everything from not being served to being berated for not ordering enough drinks took its toll on my group. I figured that being understaffed had its drawbacks, but minus a couple of weekend visits, it was almost always dead in here. We’d bring in groups of 10 – 20 folks at a time, confusion would arise whenever we were told to leave after not ordering enough drinks. There was no sign anywhere or indication on their menu that there was any rules for karaōke. Aside from being a buck or two for songs, there was no signs for«required» purchases otherwise. It was so disappointing but being booted 3 times too many has resulted in little to no returns.

My first encounter with Asia Roma was for a friend’s birthday party, who apparently lives right above the place. I was expecting a regular bar, however what I got was a restaurant with a small bar attached and a downstairs karaōke den. Needless to say, it was confusion at first sight. All in all it was a good time with friends and drinks and some drunken debauchery with the karaōke machine. My second encounter was when I was in the area and we forced my friend to come out to meet us up for drinks because it is poor form to not come out when we’re right at your doorstep. Some time has gone by and now my friend is buddy buddy with the owner and bartenders. Unfortunately, free drinks were not on the menu, however the special of the day were funny stories of how many times my friend was carried out due to near alcohol poisoning. Fact: if you live close to your favorite watering hole, you will have zero inhibitions because it’s so easy to get home. Easier said than done my friend. Overall, nice friendly environment if you’re in the neighborhood.
