AT&T

On January 11, 2014, I walked into the ATT Mobility Store at 425 Lexington Ave and was assisted by Lynnora Hobart. I went there looking to replace my lost IPhone and was told they were hosting a special promotion where I could purchase a Samsung Tablet for $ 40 and it would be added to my plan for only $ 10 additional per month. I went home happy and told everyone about the great deal I received.
On January 28, 2014, I received an email that I was at 90 percent of my data usage and would be charged an additional $ 15 per month for the increase. I immediately went online to see what my bill was shaping out to be because I am on a fixed budget. I was shocked to see that in addition to the $ 10 add on, I was enrolled in an installment plan that included an additional $ 22.50 for the next 20 months until I paid off the tablet in full. So my bill had essentially been increased from $ 123 per month to $ 170 per month!
I called ATT customer service and a Customer Service Agent Sharlene ID #SA1995 said because I was misled I could return the tablet up to 30 days with a restocking fee of $ 35. Sharlene then credited my account $ 25 towards this restocking fee. However, when I returned to the ATT retail store at 425 Lexington Ave I was informed that they have a strict 14 day buyer remorse policy and I was locked into my installment plan until I paid off the tablet which costs $ 449.99. When I called back ATT Customer Service they said I was misinformed and could not return the tablet. I was mislead once again! This is a giant scam!

WARNING: This place has zero follow-​up customer support. They’ll hustle to make the sale, but if you end up with a problem or defective device, you’re on your own.
I switched over from T-​Mobile on Tuesday of this week and got a new HTC phone. I realized the next day that the media volume on the phone didn’t work. Rather than offering to help troubleshoot at the store, they simply said that I have to go to the warranty center all the way across town. Tough luck. Too bad, so sad.
I chose this location due to the close proximity to my work, but now have to slog across town to fix /​replace my brand new device.
Thanks, AT&T, for making me feel like I made the right decision in switching over from T-​Mobile…

It was a dark and stormy, bright and sunny hot cold day in September when I made the excellent decision to jump ship from Verizon, once again, to AT&T.
My brother and I reinforced the bond we had generated after years of sharing the same last name and being undeniably related to one another in the most permanent, enduring, everlasting way possible… creating a family plan.
Retaining his precious unlimited data plan, I joined with a respectable 5GB for my iPhone.

Months later, Santa (dad) would bring me an iPad Air and I would go to the very AT&T store in Manhattan I am reviewing for activation, creating an even tighter bond on the account by sharing my 5GB with an additional device.
Alas, with my brother’s unlimited data this is not possible. Captain AT&T from Hoboken (birthplace of the family plan) never told me this when we were setting up the account.
I instantly became frustrated, barraging the man with question after question about why this would not be possible unless I paid more, more, more money!
And I retreated, back to my office, to take solace in my work computer, signing into AT&T customer service chat for no shorter than two hours, going back and forth with three different representatives, racking up $ 115 worth of credits to my account for various «inconveniences» i suffered.
And I moved onward, always onward, even when rookie representative «Jake» disabled all of my wireless services and killed both of my SIM cards, immediately ending the chat afterwards leaving me more or less stranded.
And I moved even further onward, back outside, across some streets, and back to the very same AT&T store in which, not 3 hours prior, I was in the midst of what I thought would be the «most stressful» part of my day.
This time — a different person, a cohesive explanation, and even more credits to the account! Oh glorious day of negative numbers, how you please me so very much.
In the end, I walked out with a working phone, a working iPad, and satisfaction knowing I am paying $ 30 a month to add 3GB of data to my iPad, and keeping all 5GB of data on my iPhone. I was expecting $ 10, difference of $ 20, my brother kept his unlimited plan and I, therefore, I kept my head.
Problems were spoken of, created, exacerbated, and ultimately solved — all under (and very close to) the very white roof of this moderately sized AT&T store.

Okay, this is not a review about how the Apple Store GCT really sucks at supplying phones, yet you can see my corresponding review to see what kind of experience you might have there. However, they are getting complaints, and might have since changed. As of this writing, they appear not to be able to have more than 20 iPhone 5s models in stock per day. Shame.
Anyway, unable to get my long overdue upgrade from the Apple Store at GCT without losing out on my trade in discount, I decided to try AT&T across the street since my phone was kind of getting more useless by the day. And on this day froze completely.
Walked in just to order the phone, a half hour before closing, walked out WITH my new phone completely set up. Who knew it would be that painless? I was helped by a salesperson named Lynn (Lynnora) and though they were closing the store, she stayed and finished my set up… This was a FRIDAY night. I felt a little guilty actually! Since I came in close to closing, it was not my expectation to be able to do more than put my name on a wait list for orders… much less to be given this great level of service. Really, I did not even pressure them, they were just very proactively helpful. Lynn explained my options, my payment plan, and reviewed anything I asked for help with. Lynn also helped me out with a lot of little details… right down to putting the Body Guard tempered glass screen protector on my phone flawlessly. I love that thing, didn’t know it existed… was using the contact paper like ones. Anyway, the staff in general, are very nice and friendly.
Also to be mentioned… I got a good deal on my Otter Box case, they were having a 50% off sale, and it was the one I wanted and since it fit the new phones… that’s an amazing deal. Otter Box is not cheap, so that is a pretty steep discount. More importantly, it was also nice to be able to deal with the carrier first hand and discuss billing at the time of purchase. Plus, I did get the insurance, and the ability to upgrade in a year if Apple comes out with a new update next week which will make my new phone obsolete. It seems to be the way they are going. Love my iPhone, but Apple as a corporation, not so much. Thanks for making it easier AT&T staff.

For the exorbitant monthly price AT&T charges me for my cell phone service, I should get immediate and top-​notch customer service and cell phone service. Alas, I get neither.
On the one hand I feel sorry for the employees who are the faces of the company. But at some point you have to be human and admit to some of the company’s cut-​throat pickpocket policies as being ridiculous.
If it weren’t for these eternal contracts, I’d be porting my number elsewhere in an unlimited free minute.

If it was possible for a person to be less helpful I’m sure the staffers in this store would have been! I went in to have data transferred from an old phone to my new phone. The initial response from the greeter was to tell me to do it myself and that it wouldn’t be possible to move more than a few pieces of data. When pressed they found someone to download an app and have me do it on my own from there. When that failed to copy contacts successfully bith ohones were hooked up to the device that is normally used to copy data from one phone to another. That methid also failed at which time I was told «I’m just a salesman. This isn’t my problem.»
Avoid this retail location and AT&T at all costs, I should have switched to another provider.

I received my blackberry 10 at another location but I needed to charge my phone because I went through the battery life by using all of the apps at once during 7 hours at work. My fault.
Anyways, I was able to charge my phone here and the staff were super friendly and helpful.

Just recently bought a new Nokia Lumia 920 here. Great experience — the representative was extremely helpful and made it so that the purchase was simple and easy.
This location has been here for so long — over six years. Would definitely recommend anyone and everyone to find their way here.
I wish they refreshed this location though… to make it look like some of their larger stores — like the flagship store in times square.
Remember: AT&T’s network can handle data and voice at the same time. It’s awesome!

It’s an AT&T store. Nothing special or not special about it.

I came in here to get a new case for my smartphone. Maybe they were happy I was getting a $ 35 case but it was necessary since my old one, which I’d had for over a year, was not able to protect the bottom of the phone too well at this point (though I do have to say you may want to spend more on the hard cases since mine took some abuse & held up pretty well). Apparently, those cases had a 1 year warranty which I wasn’t aware of.
The staff members I dealt with were very friendly from the woman who found the exact case I was looking for in the color I wanted to the gentleman who rang up my order. I got in & out quicker than I expected to and the clerk even changed out my case for me and held the door open for me when I left. See why I stick with AT&T?
I got no upselling & no BS, which was good since I was in a rush. I’d come back to this location if I was in the neighborhood & needed a quality cell phone accessory.

Needed a new iPhone. LUCKILY the store was empty. Igor and Christian were very helpful. Got me discounts on phone accessories and even applied the protective screens. Was a nice experience. I thought they went out of their way to please and were relaxed and fun.
Also great location of store and very knowledgable staff.

In conjunction with my persual of a new chapter in my life, I needed to upgrade my SIMS card for more memory as I’ve overloaded my existing second SIMS card with too many saved text messages, and saved e-​mail messages. Thankfully there were no charge for this upgrade, however customer service was an eternal bread line wait of thirty-​five unruling minutes to be served. At the peak of lunch hour well past 1pm every AT&T representative were occupied with a client as each computer terminal was either activating new iPod phones, BlackBerry phones, etc. The queue is very disorganized as clients were cutting the people in front and the associates did not attempt to maintain any order for service. The representative at customer service stated he can assist me within a few minutes after he finish doing whatever he was doing (assuming he was checking Facebook, Twitter, or MySpace all for personal leisure usage), which the dude was never able to resolve my issues.
Being a native New Yorker, I expose my unseen side to lash at the AT&T associate with rapid-​fire questions which a woman had no choice but to serve me. It’s a dog eat, dog world when you want help patrons must bark and lash out to obtain assistance as AT&T will NOT automatically serve patrons. I’ve inquired in the minute details of international roaming charges/​plan for data, e-​mail, web functions, SMS text messaging, and phone call usage as I will be out of the country twice this 2010 calendar year. Money, money is all that matters to AT&T as their worldwide network signal is very weak, which I rarely obtain a stablized signal for my calls.
This AT&T location resides directly outside of Grand Central Terminal conveniently accessible to MTA’s subway and Metro North commuter trains.
