Tim Driscoll is an expert teacher of spinal support and posture. When you learn with him how to use the muscles of the back to free up and support the spine, the benefits are: deeper breathing, better tone in the deep and low abs, elastic tone in the backs of the legs and butt, and release of tension in the upper back, neck, and shoulders. History

Established in 2003.

As an artist, Tim Driscoll has been recognized for the writing, acting, and producing of his original solo performances by Time Out New York as one of 97 People to Watch in ’97.

Tim received a fellowship from the New York Foundation for the Arts in non-​fiction literature in 1999.

His autobiographical writing has been published in a number of anthologies, his article entitled, «Self-​Imaging: Every Body Has a Story to Tell,» has been published in HealthyLivingNYC magazine, and he is currently at work writing an illustrated primer on the principles he teaches.

Tim began Backbone and Wingspan with the belief that teaching people to connect to the backside of the body, which is unfamiliar, but which truly gives freedom to a facility of the movement of the spine, resonates not just in a release of tension and better muscle toning, and access to core strength, but to a deep sense of being in the of ease and empowerment of the backbone.

Tim draws upon a vast and varied study of movement informing his teachings. He first studied Pilates with Bruce King, who had learned directly from Joseph Pilates. Tim teaches Universal Principles of Movement using the spring resistance of the Pilates Reformer and Trapeze Table to assist clients in sensing the spine as a resilient central support.

Tim is an expert at foot alignment and grounding, as well as exceptional at teaching postural support, providing relief of low back pain, hip pain, neck and shoulder tension, and the expansion of the musculature of the back for better breathing and support of the spine for any sport, activity, or artistic endeavor.
