Delicious for a snack and a beer. The small plates we had were delicious, however the place was a little crowded and a little pricey. Great for out of town guests on a sunny day when the roof is open.

The average of 5 stars for food and 1 star for service is a 3. The food — loved both pastas! They portions are small so don’t hesitate to get both. Fresh and flavorful, and I’m not usually a gnocchi fan but this was soft and delicious. The cheese sampler was also great, and with the side of honey. The rice pilaf with tuna I enjoyed, though it might not be for everyone if you don’t like salty foods. The octopus was meaty, but I wasn’t a fan of the flavor of its accompaniments. The service however was pretty nonexistent. It was a combination of our particular hostess and server clearly hating their jobs and a lack of enough staff to handle the diners. It was impossible to get our waters refilled without asking. I asked our server for silverware and then had to ask again to someone different. When I asked the server for some kind of implement to drizzle the honey on to the cheese, I was later handed a full on knife from someone’s table. When wrapping our leftovers, I got a box that had a mix of my leftover gnocchi, mashed potatoes, and octopus… yea that’s appetizing to eat later… The venue is pretty loud with music and people, but a great piece of real estate.

Maybe it’s because every tourist knows about Eataly and wants to go there. Maybe it’s because there’s not many good places in the Flatiron district for casual but good eats after dark. But whatever it is, Baita and Eataly are riding heavily on Batali’s name rather than their own merits. The food is mediocre and overpriced. Sure you’ll score high points with your out of towner friends for taking them to this place that they’ve heard about and read about in their airplane magazine. But really, turn the taxi around and take them somewhere else. They’ll thank you later.

I consider this a much better place to grab a drink in the spring & summer due to the location, but it can be LOUD. The food here is very average. Had dinner the other night and it was pretty disappointing. The breading on the fried shitake mushrooms was overwhelming — it’s larger than the actual mushroom! The quail was very salty and the portions were very unsatisfying(even with 2 pieces of meat). The food also took a very long time to arrive. Definitely lower standards vs. Batali’s other restaurants.

What an amazing experience. From Eataly downstairs to Baita roof top this place gives you a tour of Italy at its best.

A friend of mine, who I use to work with, is studying at CUNY, and one of our friends who we worked with was making a stop in NYC. We had not eaten at Eataly yet, so we decided to meet up here! When you walk in, it’s a little chaotic. Luckily, there’s a main hostess/info stand in the middle and the friendly gentleman explained the various restaurants inside. We decide on Baita since it was on the rooftop. We did have to go to two different hostess stands, one on the lower level, and then one at the top. The dining area is beautiful! I love the open air feel and the panels warmed the space up nicely. Our server, Jennifer, was so sweet and explained the menu since it was our first time. I had the pork shoulder which was tender and juicy and came with an apple slaw. Liz had the pasta with basil and an arugala sald, Daveed had the delicious veal and Bobby had the chicken. Everything came out in a timely manner and we couldn’t have asked for a more perfect day! I would say that it is a little pricey, but it is something fun to try, and I would definitely come back when my travels bring me back to NYC!

Went here after dinner in the area. This is the rooftop bar/restaurant inside Eataly. I had a glass of wine and my fiancé had the Dogfish Namaste. We were able to find seats behind the bar and the atmosphere was pretty good. Because it’s inside of Eataly, the prices are pretty steep. Overall, it’s decent and possibly nice to come in better weather when the rooftop is open.

This is going to sound braggy, which is not my intention. Just want to set the scene. I was lucky enough to get to hit Baita At La Birreria as a friend of the chef. A buddy from back home was close with the chef, so I got the hook up. First off, it’s relatively difficult, if you’re unfamiliar with the venue, to find the actual hostess stand. I asked a few workers at Eately, and they were absolutely no help. Upon arrival, was hearing folks be told that the wait was an hour and a half, at the earliest. But I was lucky, got to go right up. The ambiance is worth it. Totally and completely. Cool bar, love the use of space. It’s open, but still somewhat able to hold intimacy within your table. The wait service was beyond abysmal. As in, my waitress didn’t appear at my table for a good 20 minutes. Then it took forever to be able to pay and leave, when it was all said and done. That said, all the other folks, the runners, were amazing. I kept getting plied with appetizers, them adding«compliments of the chef.» Great beer selection, too. But only had one because I literally could order no more due to lack of service. Food was really good. I got steak, and it was perfectly prepared and presented. The sides were tasty and flavorful. Said that at the beginning to say that, had I had to wait an hour and a half to get in, then had the experience I had, I might have rated this much lower.

I loved this place! A colleague and I had lunch at the bar on a summer day(no reservations). We sere seated promptly because we agreed to go to the bar but the place was a full house and there’s always a long wait so make a reservation. The food and drinks were great, the service was great, the prices are higher than average but the experience, the view and the service make it worthwhile. P. S. get the cheese & salami platter.

We didn’t have reservations but they took our phone number and said they’d text us in 30 mins when a table opened up. Thankfully, it actually turned out to be only 10 mins! Amazing décor! It felt like we were in the Swiss Alps and with the Christmas holiday season, it was even more gorgeous. I couldn’t stop taking pictures of the décor in here. It was so pretty. A pure delight to the eyes. The beer selection is great and every beer I had was amazing. For an appetizer, we got the Sciatt, beer battered and fried piave cheese($ 8). It was really deliciously naughty. Be careful, they come out HOT. Also, the cheese is super salty. For my main course, I had the Strangolapreti con burro e salvia($ 16), which is housemade bread and spinach dumplings with butter and sage. The word supposedly means«priest strangers» as priests enjoyed this dish so much that they would eat it until they choked. And I completely agree! I would like to bath in a pool of this pasta with my jaw unhinged. The dumplings were soft balls of pure delight in an amazingly decadent sauce. I would eat this every night if I could. We also had amazing service. Our waitress was super friendly, super helpful, and just so much fun to talk to. I definitely really liked her. She also knew her beers, which is always a perk. It is a little pricey but what can you expect? Also, the bathrooms are a little out of the way(back down the stairs you go) but at least they’re clean and roomy, which is rare in NYC. I cannot wait to return!

When you enter the building you are transported in a foodie paradise, Eately! As you make your way to the elevator to the rooftop, you are walking by all of these interesting looking international beers, pasta sauces, and unique oils all of which make you hungry and feel like you need to go home and throw down some Ina Garten in your gourmet NYC apartment kitchen. Way cool and will go back to Eately alone! Once you reach the rooftop, you transported into this super warm, inviting, and chic ski lodge in the middle of NYC. The food looked delicious but we did not partake. We hung out at the bar which had a very good selection of beer(actually hard to find in NY). I had an American Pale Ale which was very good, citra hoppy! I would definitely return to the entire establishment, to eat, to drink, and to browse/shop. Very cool atmosphere and I can’t wait to go back and see what it looks like once the«pop up» is gone!

Great spot. If you are lucky enough to get in… It is NYC and crazy busy all the time. The melted cheese is something straight out of heaven. And the homemade sausages on their bed of kraut get you ready for a great nap! Awesome comfort food. The beer and wine selection is just as strong as the food list. They brew a few different kinds of beer on this roof top cloud of heaven! Service is a little slow.(That’s why the 4 and not 5)

Two stars for the food but five stars for the atmosphere and an extra bonus star for their Bloody Mary. The food was meh and overpriced with small portions(the Raclette is literally one sliver of cheese). But the drinks were great — though also overpriced — and the atmosphere is literally overflowing with twinkle lights and holiday charm. Ultimately I’m glad I went. And if you go, get the Bloody Mary(or «Bloody Margarita»). It comes with a speck and burrata garnish and is amazing.

I’m very conflicted here, because the atmosphere of this place was 5 stars, but the food and service were some of the most disappointing I’ve had in New York. The place was decorated very well, and felt really cozy, wintry, and festive without being overdone or tacky. I really liked it. Our waitress was truly awful. She was inattentive and forgot ALL of our orders. She came back twice to ask again without even saying sorry. She also said(kind of jokingly) «Don’t tell me something is wrong,» and things like that. She wasn’t rude, exactly, but she just made the entire experience awkward and uncomfortable. The food was enormously overpriced. We got broccoli rabe and raclette. The raclette was good, but was literally one slice of raclette with 2 pieces of bread and 4 slices of «ham» that tasted more like peppered turkey from the deli. The broccoli rabe was good, but not at all garlicky as the description indicated. Both were ridiculously overpriced. The mulled wine was fine, but also greatly overpriced. Overall: If you want to come here to feel festive and wintry, only come for a mulled wine or a beer. Skip the food, and be prepared for incredibly overpriced drinks.

I read all the previous Unilocal reviews and i was concerned about having dinner here. We had a reservation for 9pm but still had to wait 20 minutes. The hostess was VERY nice, apologized and kept us updated as to the status of our table. I also seen many others come to the hostess and indicate that they had a reservation but unfortunately their tables were not available as well. The atmosphere at Baita is amazing. It has such an intimate and inviting atmosphere. Maybe its the Christmas Tree or the lights or the smell of pine, but I love it! I must warn you that it can get crowded in the evenings and it can be a little loud, but that is expected for any popular place in the city. While I was waiting to be seated, i started to look at the menu and asked for recommendations from the hostess. They indicated that the Veal or Cod are amazing. When i got seated I quickly placed our orders. Our server quickly brought bread and olive oil and explained the origin of the olive oil(I thought that was nice). We ordered the pickled vegetables as an appraiser and it came out in 5 – 8 minutes. Our main courses came about 15 minutes later. I ordered the Veal for my main course and it was good! It was lightly breaded and tasted very good. I had a piece of the cod and that was VERYGOOD! I would highly recommend the Cod and the Veal! I would rate Baita at La Birreria as follows: Service is 3.5 Stars(Includes Wait Time), Atmosphere is 5 Stars, Food is 4 Stars and the Price is 3.5 Star. The views expressed are of my own and are my true personal experience at this establishment. My personal experience may not reflect this actual establishment, their quality or someone else’s experience at the establishment.

Ouch. Unilocal has some harsh critics here. I came here with a group last weekend and had a great time. Seems like a lot of the kinks from the first weekend have improved. The place here is gorgeous. They’ve done an excellent job transforming the space of La Birreria to really look and feel like a ski lodge. Reservations were painless on OpenTable, and we were seated promptly. Place was still pretty busy at 10PM at night. We got our food orders and drink orders in pretty early… but there were some times it was hard to track down the server throughout the night. If you want to eat your fill, the place will definitely cost you some decent coin. I ordered a glass of wine, and got the meat plate as well as three cheeses and paid about $ 60. However, the real reason to come is for the ambiance. I would gladly come back — especially on colder days or when it’s snowing. Would be a fun place to meet up with friends, sip on some mulled wine and sit next to the Christmas tree. The place is open until March, so hopefully they continue improving the experience/offerings over time.

My friends and I were really excited to come here since we love Eataly and the restaurant’s concept of a ski lodge. Apparently we came on opening weekend. We made reservations for Saturday at 12pm and were seated right away. Upon first impression, the table was super wobbly and the silverware was dirty. I tried to flag someone down to get new silverware, but there was no one around. Cheese Plate: The cheese plate was literally three square chunks of cheese on a very large round plate with honey and hazelnut on a plate on the side. Presentation was terrible. Overall, the cheese was good but they didn’t cook this. I could’ve bought some cheese at Whole Food’s and made it look prettier and I’m no chef. Caserecce: This dish was supposed to be a mushroom ragu with cheese. It was actually oil with a side of pasta and mushrooms. The pasta was soooo oily I could barely eat it. Also, according to the menu, the dish was supposed to have Vezzena di Lavarone which is a cheese but I saw absolutely no cheese. When we asked the waiter about this, he told me that the«cheese was melted into the oil so you can’t see it». They should’ve been honest and told me there was no cheese… I’m a grown woman. I know what cheese is. Service: The service was snail slow. When we asked why our entrees were taking so long, the waitress told me, «this is our opening weekend, you know.» Not even an apology! Also, I originally wanted to order the Strangolapreti but they said they were out of it. I don’t get how you run out of food at 12pm? I was confused. Please avoid this place. I wanted to get out of there as fast as possible but unfortunately I couldn’t because I couldn’t find a waiter to give me my check.

Baita is located at the rooftop of the Eataly restaurant. You have to walk all the way to the back and take an elevator up to the 14th floor. The ambiance is warm and charming and they have throws on each chair to wrap yourself up in for the cold NYC winter months. The best part about the place is the ambiance, after that everything else is eh. Service is slow and our dishes didn’t come out as we ordered; had to remind the waitress. The food is mediocre at best. As an Italian themed restaurant they only have 2 pastas to chose from, one of which is drowned in vinegar! If you come here, come here for the experience not the food.

This place was a huge disappointment. Let’s begin with the service. The waiters were very rude & unprofessional. They didnt know anything on the menu, took forever to acknowledge us, and ignored us when we called for help. To make matters worse, they were out of half the entrees before 12pm. Like get your shit together ppl… Now for the food… the only good thing was the cheese platter we ordered as appetizers. The bread they brought out for us was cold and stale, as if they were baked a week ago. I ordered the Caserecce con Ragu, and this dish was not how they described it in the menu. There was no flavor in this dish, and the pasta was swimming in a pool of olive oil. They also forgot to add the cheese in this dish. When i brought that up to the waiter, he told me the cheese was invislble. Seriously? Also the cups & utensils they gave us were dirty. Save your money… this place is not worth it.

We arrived around 1pm on a beautiful Saturday afternoon. What a great location, upstairs with the sun streaming through the glass window paned roof. We started with drinks at the bar, waiting for our table. Nice bar, but since this place was newly created as its own restaurant and bar 2 days prior to our visit, it was mass chaos. Beer selection is amazing. Not the place to ask for wine, as they were clueless to their newly expanded options and what was available. Took about 30 minutes to get a bottle of wine. The reason for the 3 stars is probably mostly based upon the poor preparation in the changes of this restaurant. Our promised 30 minute wait turned into 70 minutes. By the time we sat down for lunch our bottle of wine was polished off. Food options are more tapas sized… great place for salami, speck and cheeses. Once we ordered, food arrived fairly quickly and was good and fresh. Portions were obviously small. Pasta with mushrooms was good, as was the salad that we ordered. Disappointing again that another bottle of wine that we had wanted to try was unavailable. Overall, great location with a lot of disorganization. Should be much better once they iron out the kinks. Great location on a sunny day in the middle of the winter. Makes you feel the sunshine! !!
