Good local, lounge bar. Wide open room with couches around the perimeter, but when the place is slammed, it can be tough to get comfortable. There is a U bar with stools with fairly good access when it is busy. Usually two bartenders are on during peak drinking hours so there is never too long of a wait for a cocktail. Pop music with a DJ on the weekends. The prices are good, I like to make it for late night happy hour(11pm-mid). After that, the crowd usually fizzles out and people make their way to other spots. Cocktails are reasonable city prices. Bartenders are friendly and willing to chat if it’s not too busy. Plenty of restrooms so there is never a line, which can be a problem at many NY institutions. Check it out on a night where you are bar hopping in HK!

Jammed. The frozen margaritas taste like BUGSPRAY. Check the machine. Clean the machine. More importantly, when they come back to the bartender because they’re undrinakable, you DONOT charge for a replacement drink. Clean the machine.

$ 8 for a Tito’s and cranberry that is mostly cranberry is not worth the money. While I understand that this bar caters to the local crowd, they have to realize that the visitors usually spend more money. Not impressed at all. Feel like an outsider even though my tab exceeds most of the local patrons that they greet with affection.

I’ve lived in Hells Kitchen for over 20 years and have seen the neighborhood become more and more gay, with more and more places to hang out. Barrage is a staple, a real neighborhood bar. They have a daily happy hour which makes it a go to place for me to meet up with friends after work or before a show. Some of the staff is super friendly, a couple have a little bit of «Chelsea attitude.» But getting a top shelf drink for $ 5 – 7 is worth it! Not a great place to meet people or to cruise.

Here’s the info: — GREAT place for a happy hour. Sometimes there are also great drink specials. — Cute bartenders. Average men. — Good place for a first date during the week. Quiet compared to most bars. — Not a big fan of the seating. While it’s relaxed and lounge-y, it never seems quite comfortable. — The place is small, which can be a good thing. At least men are approachable here. Go here to start or end the night, not at the height of your bar hopping.

This CAN be a nice neighborhood bar to drop into for a drink IF you’re drinking beer. The cocktails are NOT good. Barrage is in need of much better, more experienced bartenders that truly know how to mix a cocktail! Terrible drinks! I was here on the evening that Pedro(name on my bar tab) and some other twink that wore sweat shorts and a baseball cap turned around backwards! Eyeroll. Seriously? No wonder the cocktails were bad! I’ll have to think twice before coming back unless I’m only in the mood for a draft beer — at least they cannot get that wrong — surely! BTW… I sat at the bar and the bartenders were NOT attentive and could have cared less if my glass was empty or not. I sat for 20 minutes before the one with the backwards baseball cap asked me if I was okay. Lame! Big disappointment. Millennials I suppose — no sense of proper service. Sad really!

Went here the other night with a friend for a drink. Was there on a Thursday, the bartender was not attentive and seemed pre occupied every time I went to order a drink. The drink menu had interesting names but I just had my typical gin and tonic which was mediocre to weak. I enjoyed the atmosphere itself and I’m sure you could go and have a good time with friends or pre game here before going out to another place. I just hope to have a different bartender the next time I go.

2 of my beloved friends came to visit(and happen to be gay) so I took them to Barrage to start with. I like the drinks here and the bartenders are very friendly(even to women!) The only down side is how LOUD they were playing the music. We aren’t that old yet but we couldn’t hear eachother. Other than that, a great place

This has been my go to Gaybar for four years. It is comfortable, inviting, and a lot of fun. I love to come here with groups, and I also feel comfortable hanging out on my own at the bar, making conversation, and watching videos. I’m recently in a relationship, and love coming here and spending time with my boyfriend over cocktails. It has wonderful atmosphere, great drinks at great prices, wonderful cocktail servers an awesome bartenders. They also played awesome music videos. Don’t miss out!!!

Well what a short stay! We got there with my friend around 6:30 on a Friday night and guess what, it was crowded! So as we try to squeeze through to reach the only free space at the bar, we got asked to get out of the way by a waiter. Finally at the bar, we try to order, the bartender gave us a terrible attitude with a deep honest«NOTNOW!» in our face. Then we waited for approximately fifteen minutes standing in the middle of the room, and, sorry but, we gave up… It is unfortunate because a bar like this in HK use to be a nice place to grab a drink after work and just relax in the presence of good company.

If you are looking for a gay bar to just relax and mingle with friends then this is the place for it. I was here with a group of friends and it was a delightful experiences. The enviroment of the place is what capture my attention the most. The walls have all of these vintage centerfolds of men posing and as you get closer to restroom the centerfolds gets more lewd. It was a hilariously surprise for my friends and I when we were differentiating between the boys and girls room. I will have gladly post picture, but I am afraid it will get flagged for being inappropriate. The day we came it was a monday Cosmo special, which I found to be too sweet for my tongue, but the drafts were nice. I had a stout. The service is a little slow, but ther waiter walk around each table or stool to check with the customer, which could balance the wait. Overall, I enjoy my time here with my friends will most likely come back here again.

Came here with a group of 6 friends last night and waited at the bar for about 15 minutes and our presence was never even acknowledged. They weren’t even terribly busy considering it was NYE. I can see why as the service is terrible. The bar tender just continued serving everyone else drinks and hanging around as we tried to get his attention and he never so much as looked at any of us. Rude. You lost our business and we took our large tab to the next bar!

Barrage is such a fun place for happy hour. Came here on a weekend – that’s right, they have happy hour on the weekend — and had a great time catching up with some friends who recommended the place. I had a couple margaritas which were nothing special, but hit the spot. I won’t lie, there weren’t many straight people there if that kind of thing makes you feel uncomfortable, but I had as much fun there as I would anywhere else. Good music, extremely friendly bartenders, too. The best part: they have the best bar snacks! Goldfish, kettle corn, all covered!

Barrage is the type of place you go to just to hang out, chill, or meet up with friends. If you knew what it was like before the remodel(all red walls), it has come a long way and has gone upscale. It’s not the largest space, but is very relaxed, has great DJs, and definitely packs a punch. Barrage offers a solid happy hour(but not the best around), and has a full bar with many house cocktails, including their specialty: The Crystal Gayle(aka Frozen Cosmo). DAILYHAPPYHOUR: 5−8pm, and 11pm-12am: $ 2 off drinks Well drinks normally $ 7 — so $ 5 at happy hour NIGHTLYSPECIALS: Monday nights: Frozen Cosmos and Regular Cosmos $ 4 all night long Tuesday nights: Frozen Margaritas $ 4 all night long Wednesday nights: Vodka/Cranberry $ 4 all night long Barrage is run by a company that runs several other businesses in Hell’s Kitchen, including Therapy, Vynl, El Centro, and Hell’s Kitchen(the restaurant). They definitely been around the block and know what they’re doing!

This place is not for dancing! This is known as the pre-game place if there is no alcohol at home. this is also known as the 11pm happy hour place after you have been dancing and partying at other gay bars. We are talking about the only place that will sell very cheap frozen cosmos! Like cosmos!!! Even unfrozen! The bartenders always smile and there is always space at the big long(yet very angled) bar. What I love the most about this place is that it’s relaxed enough to come talk to friends and enjoy a drink or for going by yourself and making a new friend. Always someone at the bar looking to make conversation. I was here once while Bacardi Pineapple was promoting and I got a free hat and a watch. Though the best part was, I was able to get about 5 shots for free just for being there. Yes, this is the place to come and enjoy a drink. never asked for any food, maybe cause they serve none but I do know the bar always have something to munch on(not that I would recommend anyone to eat those at any bar!) This is not a date type place… But it is a place to meet up before you go on your date. ;)

Champagne bar? Nope. I was sorely misled. Le sigh. I arrived under the impression I was going to be served amazing drinks with a champagne base. WTH, Barrage, WTH! But that’s okay, I thoroughly enjoyed the drinks although it was quite expensive… With happy hour! Why? They weren’t spectacular for the price point. And also we know graduate students don’t have money… Come onnnn! Definitely gay friendly! So come on down. Friend and I seemed to be the only two straight women there. Well, okay we were the only women there. Granted it was around 6 or 7 pm on a Friday. That’s pretty slow?! I hail from the great country of Tejas… And if I say that’s slow, then that’s REAL slow. I haven’t been back since. Nothin special. Especially since I didn’t get my champagne drinks as expected! AND one drink is already in double digits price wise? Oh my.

Cool music, decent menu, friendly service. Only 3 stars because I feel like there’s nothing that sets this place apart. That being said, it’s a fun little place to grab an early drink… or a night cap.

Much like a piece of lignum vitae, this place is very solid. I give it three stars. Stopped by here for a drink with some friends on a Sunday evening. It was lively but not too crowded and we were able to snag seats in the back. Couch was comfortable. Drinks were very affordable and the bartender was attentive. Music was a little loud but we were still able to have a conversation. Can’t really tell what the crowd looked like because it was incredibly dark in the place so I felt like Mary Ingalls after she went blind. Not that they had a bar like this on «Little House on the Prairie» but I could see Mr. French stopping by for a beer. Overall a decent place, but I’m really not sure how to characterize this place. Is it a lounge, is it a club, is it a local watering hole? There were some aspects of all of that and the dots didn’t connect fully for me. That said, it was nice enough and you won’t hate yourself for going there.
