Saw a great Dave Matthews Band Show here. It’s like an overgrown movie theatre with old architecture from the 1920s and Manhattan appeal. This is a hot ticket The acoustics are amazing Seating is intimate Beverages were nice Weather your seeing a comedian, band or magic show this is a great place! PS. Allman Brothers own this place

Recently went here for the Above & Beyond Acoustic II tour. We arrived at around 745, and quickly made it inside for the show to start at 8. The security guard patting us down even let me take in my leftover food in the bag I had from dinner, and told me she trusted me that I wouldn’t eat it inside. I was stuffed from dinner, and promised her I wouldn’t haha. There is a bar to the right immediately when you walk in, serving beer, wine, hard alcohol, snacks, soft drinks, etc. There’s a few other bars around the first floor area as well, and all moved decently fast and had about the same good selection. My wife was happy they had a number of flavored vodkas for her to select from. The merchandise stand is located right when you walk in to the left across from the bar, and this also moved pretty quickly. Both were pricy, but it’s a concert in NYC, what do you expect. We bought seats off stubhub on the first floor, about 20 rows back, and they were pretty good. The view was nice, although we had trouble finding our seats at first, and the person helping out wasn’t exactly keen on showing us. What else was she doing, I thought showing people to their seats was her job. The theatre itself is beautiful, crafted in an old opera style with nice furnishings and opera boxes, as well as two higher balconies. The control panel with all the lights and gadgets was right next to where we were sitting, and I’d make sure next time not to book seats in the middle about 25 rows back so as to avoid having to peer over it. The bathrooms are located downstairs, where there is yet another bar, and they are crowded. The men’s room had a long line the one time I went to use it, and the urinals and stalls are not plentiful and are one on top of the other. Our seats in the theatre were kind of close together, but not horribly so, but there was very little leg room when sitting. Was not the most claustrophobic place ive ever been in, but was not exactly roomy either. Above & Beyond put on a great show, and I thought this venue fit perfectly. The ambiance was just right. We were able to take a cab right up to the front entrance, and then finding one after the show ended was not difficult either. I would definitely come back here for another show, and would try to get similar floor level seats. I’ve been here a number of times in the past for allman brothers concerts with my dad, but this was the first time I could really enjoy the venue with a band I love.

I was here in NYC for a business meeting and a friend who happened to be in town on a business trip at the same time decided to do a date night. She chose Beacon since it was the last night the group she’s been following was performing. I love this place. It’s got the authentic, classic feel to it. We had a blast and was definitely something different to do then my past business trips here which was stayed in the room and work on my projects.

Beautiful 1929 theater with wonderful acoustics. The sound carries so well in here for concerts. The view is decent even on the higher tiers. The gold embellishments, trims, gold statuettes, paint etc.

We came here for the Tori Kelly concert and it was great! The place was venue was beautiful! We had seats up in the balcony but we were able to see everything clearly! Commute is easy! 1, 2, 3, B and C trains are nearby! Parking isn’t horrible as well. Coming into the building was quick and easy. The bag checks and metal checks were thorough but quick. I really appreciated the leg room! We didn’t need to stand up if someone in the row needed to get out. If you’re looking for a place to eat or have dessert around the area before or after the show, then you’ve got options!

Good: –A block away from the 72nd St subway station(1,2,3 trains). –Beautiful venue inside –Seating was comfortable and sized well(not narrow and tight) –There’s a 3rd line to get into the venue towards the Amsterdam Ave. Bad: –The lines get scary long, don’t let that fool you-be patient

Went here last night to see Tori Kelly and Third Story! Though there was a long line to get in, a pizza truck was parked nearby and the line moved quickly once doors opened. This theater is beautiful! I do have to agree that it meets all classy requirements — just look at it! At 5 ft nothing, I usually struggle with seeing over people’s heads, but not here! I could see just fine from the lower balcony, and there seemed to be a good amount of leg room. Lastly, I love that I could hear every note than anyone played!

The venue is nice-easy to get to on the 1,2 or 3 subway and the exit is only about a ½ block away. Once you are able to get inside, there are security people that will«wand» you and they check your bags/purse/etc. After you pass muster at security, you are immediately in the midst of long lines for drinks although there is another place to get drinks further inside but also long lines. The seats are a bit narrow but ok. Some seats have limited leg room in front of them due to something on the floor I couldn’t discern. However, good views on the main floor. I went to see a premier at the Tribeca Film Festival about Steve Aoki and he performed afterwards. It was energetic and the audience fully participated. The décor is quite pretty. There is quite a bit of seating. I can’t speak to the upper areas but the main floor seems to have good views throughout.

I’ve been to many shows here. It’s a great place to see a show. Saw Bonnie Raitt last Saturday! The Beacon is a beautiful venue w/it’s many statues, murals, & beautiful marble work. There are 2 bars(front & back of the venue). All seats are with good views of the stage. I’m glad they kept it original(no giant monitors.) one draw back: no cup holders!

This is a fantastic place to see a show. The interior was remodeled in 2009 and looks it. The whole place is very pretty. The sound is good and the seats are well laid out. People there have always been friendly. Outside of the theater area is IS pretty tight and claustrophobic. Getting around during an intermission or right after the show gets out is impossible. Only bathrooms are in the basement. Other than that though it definitely a wonderful venue.

I recently visited the Beacon theatre for the first time ever to see The Smashing Pumpkins. This venue is absolutely amazing. Not only is the theatre itself truly majestic and beautiful but the acoustics sounded great! I had loge seats which I was a bit worried about. I thought I wouldn’t be able to enjoy the show properly due to a view obstruction. Thankfully my seats were great. I could see and hear the band perfectly. They also had bars set up for drinks. A little on the pricey side.(As in any venue for a show.) Overall a great experience. Hope to return for more amazing shows.

ADA Review: I have been hear plenty of times before my accident so I can say without a doubt there is not a bad seat in the house. In regards to accessibility, I went here in January of ’16 for Umphrey’s McGee & Tauk. I was pleasantly surprised with the location of the ADA accessible seating, which was located at very front of the right and left orchestra sections(not right-center or left-center). It wasn’t the best view with a standing crowd but it was certainly better than being all the way in the back of the venue. The pathway to/from the street is fairly easy to navigate and the floor incline is not too steep anywhere in the building. The nearest train station is only a few blocks away and it contains an elevator for easy accessibility. There is also an accessible bathroom right in the area between the lobby and the exterior of the building. Lastly I was able to purchase tickets over the phone and was able to have the venue transfer preexisting seats to accessible seating by speaking with their box office without issue.

Caught an Umphrey McGee show here and was blown away. This building is charming and beautiful. The art deco lamps, Tiffany windows, and chandelier are stunning. I love shiny wood. Check out the murals by standing at the front of the stage. I like how the staff greets and nods as I say«hello». But yo, they have a Terror Squad at the Front Door looking for contraband. But they are not digging in your stuff like TSA Officials. The Dark and Stormy drink was aiight. The Draft beer was… beer. They knocked the edge off while waiting to be seated Sound system was better than anticipated. Which made me wonder since UM had an extra package that featured super max wireless headphones. I was dancing in the aisles with five young women and a dude from the Chi. I don’t think that would have been possible with the headphones. For another UM show, that is a definite yes. For another show, sure…

It’s an amazing space. I didn’t even know such a place existed in the upper west side. When you walk in, there is a lofty space with a large mural and chandelier. Since it was the holidays when I came it was also decorated festively. The hall itself is a sight to behold. It’s a large space but not gigantic so you can definitely see the artists well. I was in row P and could still see every fine line on Mariah Carey’s face… not that she has any. Enjoy the details in the walls and stage. You will notice it’s not your run of the mill auditorium. There are enough statues and embellishments to make your head spin. Overall a fun place.

This is an absitively, posilutely amazingly beautiful UWS theatre. Like other iconic NYC institutions(contrast Grand Central with Penn Station for example) the Beacon was saved from the wrecking ball of progress and preserved for us at the expense of developers. The interior is gilded sculptures and panels of velvet that my lack of knowledge fails to properly describe but I will tell you remind me of ancient Egypt. My pictures will not hold water compared to those posted by others. As Yael S states in her review«This is the most beautiful building in New York, and no one can convince me otherwise» As an entertainment venue, it is extremely comfortable. The seating bears no resemblance to airplane seating unless you travel«first class». Three tiers of of viewing in real seats. Yes, seats that are cushioned, rock and are sufficiently sized for adult human beings. All seats are reserved and there is no «mosh pit». No pushing or puking. It is a place of dignity and class. Like other older venues, there is «not a bad seat in the house». The SOUND is excellent. I have been here twice — both times to see Steely Dan — and can attest to the FACT that their music sounded at least as good live as it does on their studio productions(vinyl, CD, etc). SD’s music was produced by Gary Katz and is as intricate and refined as you will encounter. On that, I will diverge a moment. Steely Dan was borne out of NY/NJ and one of the most influential rock and roll bands that most on this site will not have heard of. They produced 7 albums over 8 years and folded in 1980. Like the Beatles, Rolling Stones, Allman Brothers, Grateful Dead, Dire Straits, Led Zeppelin among others, their music holds up to the test of time. The Beacon has a BAR that serves beer and wine for circa $ 10 each. For all the splendor, there is a PRICE. We paid about $ 200 for each of our front row loge seats so, you’ll most likely reserve your event for that special time and band that you love.

So I don’t often go above 33rd Street for music shows in Manhattan. My comfort zone is the Bowery or venues downtown. However, there have been a few times when I’ve ventured out. The Beacon Theatre is one of the places where I’ve gone and had an awesome time because it’s such a gorgeous venue and great for music. Anyway, Beacon Theatre is actually a historic landmark. It used to be an old movie theater. With that in mind, it’s a smaller space as well as has great acoustics, so you get a more intimate music experience when you see a show here. Seats aren’t too bad compared to other older venues in the city(*cough* Town Hall *cough*). Anywhere you sit, you’ll get a good view of the stage. My advice to the budget-conscious music-goer(as you’ve most likely splurged to see a show at Beacon where the tickets are a bit pricier than other places): Consider grabbing a drink somewhere else before your show. Drinks are expensive.

I came here several weeks ago to see American Idol Live 2015: Top 5 Performers from Season 14 Up Close and Personal! Not only did I thoroughly enjoy the concert, I loved the venue. Beautiful interior with elegant chandeliers and artwork on the way up to the 2nd level and the theater was filled with very comfortable plush, red seats. I wasn’t super close, but still had a pretty good view and the acoustics were fantastic– Great sound all around, intimate feel and nice cool temperature.

First time time here to see Ultimate Doo Wop show. The theatre itself is gorgeous, you are really in for an experience and feeling like you are in a different era. The décor is classic and really a treat for the year. The sound really carried through the theatre. The theatre is close to the subway station in the beautiful Upper West Side, and when you see the marquee after you come out of the station, your excite, net will rise. For cons, not much of a waiting area and the opened the doors a half hour«ish»(usher’s word) beforehand. We were in the cheap seats, and the performers kept coming out onto the apron/front of the stage where we couldn’t see them. I’d think the theatre would know right up front is t visible to higher up areas and instructed the performers as such. Overall though, it’s a great venue and I hope to be by again.

The Beacon is one of my favorite places to see a show in Manhattan. The theater itself is gorgeous, with relatively comfortable seating and a generally friendly staff. I like the video marquee outside the theater where many people take pictures to remember the event they are attending. I usually take public transportation in the city, but the area is pretty good for parking if you get there early enough. If you have some time to kill there is a nice little bar — the Beacon Bar next door to grab a drink, but they can be somewhat pricey(in line/slightly above standard Manhattan cocktail prices). Not much more to say its usually the performance that dictates where you go to see a show, but all in all, there are much worse places in Manhattan to see a show and not many that can match the style and beauty of this place.

Beacon theatre Here for a valentines day 70’s soul jam featuring The Stylistics, The Dramatics, The Manhattans, The Delfonics, Blue Magic! Great show minus one group(delfonics or dramatics– sorry forgetting which) who apparently wasn’t singing their better known songs(as the audience gently boos) but they start to sing the hit sing from Annie! «the sun will come out…» People were not happy!!! «this ain’t an Annie show!» People yelled. Talk of them having too many cocktails maybe… And I thought my generation of music had issues! Ha! The stylistics could be their own show! They were that good and blue magic put on a great show. The classic/smooth two step and side step in unison is S E X Y! Mom enjoyed herself as she sang along with the other moms nearby, I kept the wine flowing like a good daughter. 2.5 hours and very worth it! Really appreciated the smooth transition between each group but the emcee was annoying! Hitting high pitches and holding them when announcing or talking to us-tacky. More tacky than his foiled baked potato looking suit! Cons– long line for women’s bathroom and it’s one level up. Older theatre so harder for much older people to navigate. Not the best lighting for the elderly. Security flashing his light quickly at the dozens of people taking video was ANNOYING! M —- don’t you know that rapid flashing of a bright light can cause seizures! They should have announced no photos /videos but never did. And the emcee… Mr foil baked potato– annoying. This isn’t a rock concert or a group of 20 year olds!
