Beretta

I purchased my 682 Gold E Sporting shotgun in 12 ga. here. I went pheasant hunting with a S&W semi. First time and hit very little. I had a serious talk with a good friend/​fellow hunter about this situation. The both of us decided to get involved in shotgun. Two 682’s later, the both of us went to both New Jersey and Suffolk County, New York to LEARN how to shoot properly. Several lessons were involved. Bruce Buck and Orvis comes to mind. Also the help of the world famous Ed Anderson of Beretta was forthcoming. We also had a few trips out to the Peconic River Sportsmens Club. Both Ed and an old friend from Northrop Grumman Aerospace are members and got us in. The next time we went pheasant hunting, we were out and out killers. The excellent shotguns and the training were outstanding. The friendship and skill of Mr. Anderson cannot be beat. At Orvis, they check you out with an adjustable shotgun. This «fits» the firearm to you. Ed was pretty much right on in that department. My hunting buddy needed to have his firearm’s stock modified by Ed due to a shorter arm length. Perfect job. Oh, they also sell clothing on the two lower floors. I have a number of items I have purchased. Both hunting and dress gear. You can’t beat this place as far as I am concerned. Considering that the company has been in business since 1526, I’m very pleased.

This is one of Beretta’s flagship stores. The first two floors are clothing and «stuff» and the third floor is the gunroom.
Beretta clothing is very good and I own some nice tweed vests and a wonderful logen coat. The coat is very high quality and cost far less than a comparable coat would in Vienna. They have very nice tattersall shirts but the sleeves are too short. The sleeves on their jackets are too short also — I suppose there aren’t enough very tall Italian men to make extra-​long clothing worthwhile!

The gun room doesn’t interest me much. I already own a Beretta SxS that altho it’s a nice gun, is just a bit clunky. Their O/​Us have a m ore refined feel but I don’t like O/​Us and won’t buy one. I much prefer my English SxS game guns. However, the staff is very helpful and courteous.
Beretta has a warranty on their new guns but you’ll have to fight to get them to honor it. My SxS shot off face after a few months and they couldn’t fix it and balked at replacing it even tho that was in their warranty.
Anyway, the NYC shop is a nice place to look at some interesting guns and to get some very nicely tailored clothing.
Don’t expect this to be a place to get cheap camo!

Hmmm… the shooting gallery is on the 3^rd floor. I thought the selection was «okay», just one of each model in different gauges. I was expecting something more like the high end gun, large gun rooms you see at Bass Pro or even speciality stores like Pacific Sporting Arms. Nope. Not really, People said hi but I would have like to have the gun just put a bunch of guns in front of me and just touch them all. Really, I would think this store should be tailored to not to sell but just touch touch touch. It was more of… no chat and look… like the museum down the street.

I am a wealthy consumer and visited the ny store with ny family. Service in gun room was pretentious, axcted like I was not good enough for his time. Fail, i will start my Cesar Guerini ciollection. Beretta needs to learn their staff work for the customer, i will never purchase their products.

Great store first class array of hunting gear. The store manager, Darin, is wonderful to deal with. And Ed is one of the best gunsmiths on the East coast.

Love the clothing, but the service is less than desirable. Rather rude and stuffy staff. Not sure what that is all about. The service is ALWAYS chilly — never had a pleasant experience in the store. Too bad as I love the clothing.

My shooting skills could stand for some improvement. I’m not bad at sporting clays, but I could be better. Once I reach my personal best, this is one of the first places I’ll go and check out their 28 gauge shotgun selection. In the meantime, I’ll settle for their classic ‘hunting in the countryside’ apparel which is surprisingly not frumpy but rather smart (simple quilted jackets that actually fit!) and cool (for their tweeds & plaids!).
