I used to file a complaint against a business through them and I would get a result recently when I’ve used bbb to file a complaint againt a business no results are produced.

What a waste of time and effort! I filed a complaint with the BBB of Manhattan against Alpine Kitchen Design DBA EuroTec Kitchen and Bath in Long Island City. My kitchen cabinets which I paid a lot of $$ for last year are falling apart. EuroTec picked up the cabinet doors on Feb 5^th 2016 to repair the cabinet doors. After weeks of being unresponsive, I finally got a manager on the phone who said they will repair them for a fee. After 6 weeks of having them in their possession. They then said it would be too expensive to repair and returned the cabinet doors to me after 7 weeks in worse shape than when they picked them up. The BBB did absolutely nothing! My response from the BBB was that the business did not respond to their request for rebuttal regarding my complaint so therefore the complaint is closed! Really? So when the business ignores the complaint, as they did with me for weeks, the complaint is closed? How terrifying for the business! Just don’t answer and it will all go away. I can’t believe people work for the BBB and get paid to do it! Very disappointed!

Recommendation:
Instead of The Better Business Bureau of Metropolitan (BBB-​NY), you’re better off calling «ABC 7 On Your Side NY» (917−260−7697) and appealing to their sense of reason. At least, they’re willing to contact the business and maybe even BBB-​NY to figure out what realities they’re living or, rather, operating in.

We had an issue with American Express and could not get anywhere for a month. They kept transferring us to non-​US call centers where reps were insulting and didn’t follow through with what they had promised. We emailed all over the place, to corporate, to LinkedIn contacts, complained on the Facebook page, and received absolutely no response. Finally, we contacted the BBB of NY and they were able to get our problem resolved in a week. Thanks for the help!

After being ripped off by an A+ BBB contractor. (I am aware of many who were ripped off by the same company) I now realize that The BBB is a profit driven organization dependent on dues paying companies. The BBB symbol on a company’s website or print material means nothing. I spoke to one other company after this fiasco and was told they were BBB’d I laughed and replied. That really means ‘you’ pay your dues. They didn’t say anything.

I own a business. As with any business, it is impossible to please everyone but we do try. I had an unhappy client who complained to the BBB. Then she left a review on Unilocal stating that we are terrible and that we didn’t even respond to the BBB complaint. The problem is that, because I am not accredited (do not pay dues to BBB) they never let me know there was a complaint.
All the BBB cares about is generating revenue by charging businesses to be «accredited»
They are a complete fraud!!!

This BBB is just terrible. I received a response to my complaint from the company last Saturday and immediately wrote my response and sent it. Today, I was checking the status of my complaint online and saw that my complaint was AJR’ed (administratively Resolved) which means that the BBB felt the company offered a reasonable explanation and/​or offered good faith to reach a resolution. But typically for a case to be AJR’ed the company has to respond to the secondary rebuttal. The company NEVER responded to the rebuttal and who knows if they ever even received it. I didn’t even get a notice that the complaint was AJR’ed from the BBB — WTH!
Worse! Is the fact that the first response to my complaint was mostly not even factual information and in my secondary rebuttal I PROVED it wasn’t!!! What kind of BBB branch is this!!! So I emailed and left a voicemail at the office requesting an explanation. We’ll see! Phffff — stupid agencies subsideized by the government!
At least I still have my OCC complaint and I’m going to investigate to see how to complain against the BBB. HA!

In my past life of adult life, after printing a complaint form along with a written formal complaint of Levitz Furniture of Farmingdale, NY my former love and I were completely dismayed with the shipping and handling performance of our delivery.
Better Business Bureau of Long Island promptly responded to my complaint and notified the business of our dissatisfaction. We were compensated by Levitz with a $ 50.00 gift certificate, despite of having NO desire to become a repeat client again.

Complain to the BBB & companies will finally listen.
It’s weird, but once in a while a company like, oh, Verizon, will get it into its head that you owe it some money which you really, truly don’t. You can spend hours on the phone, writing letters, worrying about the collection agency that shouldn’t be bothering you but is. And nothing happens – they don’t listen to you.
They will listen to the BBB. Fill out their Web form & document like crazy and the company attacking you will finally listen & straighten their thing up. I’ve been in 2 situations like that with out of control corporations and nothing short of bringing in the BBB got them off my back. And it’s free!

The BBB of Metro NY was given ample evidence that we were defrauded and our home ruined by a crooked contractor. Then they or the contractor (or both) lied about a response being sent to us and they «administratively judged» the complaint closed! When the contractor’s profile is viewed on their site, there’s no indication we ever complained – set aside the administrative judgment. Yet the contractor has an A+ rating – notwithstanding scads and scads of Dept of Consumer Affairs complaints and many lawsuits. They are, of course, PAYING the bbb dues – unlike the poor schmucks who hire them, though.
The BBB is a bogus operation and I would never, ever have any faith at all that one of their «A+» members is anything more than a colossal «F».
